Last time I remembered the staff writing something with a pencil on the list of voters name they had. Not very sure about it since it has been 4 years already.
Voter’s number not noted in coming polls
PUTRAJAYA: For the first time, a voter’s electoral number from the computer printout at the polling station will not be noted on the ballot paper.
In previous elections, the electoral number was written on the counterfoil of the ballot paper, leading to complaints that the voter’s identity could be known.
Election Commission (EC) secretary Datuk Kamaruzaman Mohd Noor gave an assurance that the votes would be a secret because there was “no way we can trace” who the voters cast their ballot for.
“Voting is a confidential matter and there should be no way for it to be known how a voter casts his vote,” he said.
“In the past, the number was written in the counterfoil in the event there was a need for the EC judge to check if there was a fake vote.
“We have stopped this.”
The counterfoil, the votes and voters registration book were all destroyed after the election, he said.
hopefully this will give guts to civil servants to vote for opposition where all the while they were in fear of being traced . Good Luck !
