Even DAP’s senior assemblymen Teng did not get a place, what more of Manoharan. Teng was the opposition assemblyman in previous BN goverment in Selangor, and he did highlight few issues that made him well-known.  I suspect DAP will be soon “forgetting” the HINDRAF effect.

No details of portfolios yet, except Teresa said she handles investment, industry and trade. Khalid, the MB handles finance, land, youth development.

Dr Xavier who defeated Kamala Ganapathy is the sole Indian in the EXCO, representing PKR.

Selangor exco sworn in

The Selangor executive council members were sworn in at Istana Bukit Kayangan in Klang this morning.

They were Teresa Kok (DAP), Dr Hassan Ali (PAS), Yaakob Sapari (PKR), Rodziah Ismail (PKR), Dr Xavier Jayakumar (PKR), Dr Halimah Ali (PAS), Iskandar Abdul Samad (PAS), Ronnie Liu (DAP), Elizabeth Wong (PKR) and Ean Yong Hian Wah (DAP).

As reported by Malaysiakini on Friday, the exco line-up had an equal number of Malay to non-Malay members. It also included four women members.

Selangor menteri besar Khalid Ibrahim also revealed that no deputy menteri besar would be appointed for the moment.

Kok told journalists that she has been named senior exco – a new position created in lieu of a deputy mentri besar post. She has been given the state cabinet profolio of investment, industry and trade.

Teng not present

One obvious absentee among the state assemblypersons today was DAP’s veteran Teng Chang Khim, who has been left out of the exco list. Teng, who is Sungai Pinang representative, was former state opposition leader. According to Kok, Teng had informed Chinese newspapers yesterday that he did “receive any invitation” swearing-in ceremony.

However, this appeared to be a snub by Teng over the fact that three relatively junior DAP assemblypersons had been selected over him. As a compromise, Teng is likely to be picked as a speaker for the state assembly.

When asked by journalists whether Teng’s supporters would not be happy with his faction being sidelined, Kok said that it was all “up to Teng”.

Among those present today at the palace were former mentri besar Mohd Khir Toyo and new state Barisan Nasional chief Muhammad Muhammad Taib.

    It was expected.

When the pleas of the people to free the detainees fall on deaf ears and even when one of the them is elected by the people to serve them, don’t expect a blind, deaf and racist system to appoint Manoharan as an exco member.

since S’gor Sultan hit out at hindraf , he could have disagreed to have M.Manoharan in exco……possible

Not surprising..the opposition had been riding on “Makkal Sakhti” for their own personal ambitions i.e they needed the much coveted Indian votes to enrich their vote Bank.

What happened in Selangor is deplorable, the Indians had again been marginalized, just that this time by the Opposition…Just see how many EXCO portfolio/s given to Indians and what kind of portfolio..Estate & plantation and poverty? The same old defunct and last portfolio in list…no difference between BN and PKR …why TS Khalid never consider giving an equally important portfolio, e.g economy, trade, education. technology etc..Based on “Makkal Sakhti” popularity which attracted a major swing of Indian votes to opposition shouldn’t we be rewarded with 2 “EXCO” posts. DAP could have easily nominated Manoharan for EXCO seat, let alone be decided by his Highness, Sultan…

Selangor PKR government should have emulated the Penang government led by Lim Guan Eng in recognizing & rewarding the Indians for their support ..

PKR & TS Khalid pl. wake up……If not in next election Indians in Selangor may decide otherwise !!!!!!
