The visit by HINDRAF to Hari Raya open house is being labeled as “insult to PM”, “insult to Islam’, “insult to Muslims”, “spoiling country’s image”, “causing anger among the Malays”, “rude”, “treachery”, “irresponsible”, and many more negative comments. Thus, this is seen as trying to incite the Malay community to go against HINDRAF. By having PAS support, this attack is somewhat nullified.
The Pas chief said the action by the the Hindu Rights Action Force (Hindraf) at the prime minister’s and cabinet’s Hari Raya open house on Wednesday was part and parcel of democracy. Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang said it signalled a change in the democratic practices in the country that should be viewed positively.
“I don’t think it was rude. That’s democracy. In the United States, people demonstrate in front of the White House. It’s not like they caused a commotion or started fighting,” he said after the party’s Hari Raya gathering at the Tarbiyyah headquarters yesterday.
His comments were dismissed by Information Minister Ahmed Shaberi Cheek who said:
Describing Hadi’s understanding of democracy as off tangent, Ahmad Shabery said it was unbecoming of the PAS chief to liken the action by an illegal group as a normal practice in a democratic country like the United States.
“Do not liken demonstrations in front of the White House with the action of Hindraf supporters who had disrupted an Aidilfitri open house. It was the time for the Prime Minister, his deputy, and ministers to meet the people.
“The action had tarnished the hari raya celebration and the goodwill spirit advocated by Malaysians. We should not misuse democratic practices.
“Just because he is eyeing for votes from Hindraf supporters, he (Hadi) is willing to forget the sanctity of hari raya celebration,”

The level of misinformation from a minister is just appaling!!! I’ve really just come to a point where I feel that it’s not an issues of BN ministers or opposition ministers but for GOD SAKE……..lets get some EDUCATED ministers la!!!!!!
The amount of crap that is shelled out by these misinformed, uneducated, ill equipped, sorry excuse for ministers are our country’s downfall!!!
hindraf desperately trying to reach umno with good objective but always gets backfire .
No matter how hard it try i doubt umno will give face . It’s in their mentality and blood so hard to change . Media played hindraf attendance at the open hse but not RPK supporters simply because
hindraf are indians , the vast minority .
If I were to be hindraf , i wont agree with the open hse activity as possible solution .
Hindraf need to reach people , of course especially indians . Then go beyond races . It maybe apolitical but it need to contribute to political changes (as what it did for GE12) . When all races understand the struggle is democtratic and genuine it will carry political awareness
further . The reason i kept pressing on political change is because i dont see anyway to achieve anything under current federal . At the same time cant give excess power to religious party like Pas which will defeat the purpose as well . So there’s a need to have moderate parties like PPP,GR,PSM,SAPP,MCA…etc to joint forces under fresh federal
umbrella . On top of that , hindraf have to approache support from these moderate parties as well . Till these levels crossed i really doubt any improvement to be seen .

This action only re-inforces the perception that HINDRAF supporters are a bunch of goondas and gangsters.
HINDRAF is dead and losing their influence and respect rapidly, the response to the recent temple demolition and other issues had exposed their current leaders’ true colors as PR’s cheerleaders and apologists.
I expect the HINDRAF 4 to be released soon but Uthaya to stay back to partner RPK….
Whatever PAS say’s,end of the day we indians are the one’s to feel any after-effect of any such actions.Hindraf have made lot of enemies>>>within the indian community too.Regardless whether hindraf is right or wrong>>>The open house is truly risky affair..what happend’s if someone have inflitrate the hindraf wearing the hindraf outfit…and fired few shots at the open house>>maybe injuring or worse killing one of the minsters..I am not saying hindraf do it,some entity’s who don’t like hindraf might do it.Rember,hindraf is loosely form orgainstation,they come together normally for rally or protest>>>There is possibilty they don’t know each other well…The above mentioned scenario if it happend’s…I think u can mark it as D-Day for indian community..Yes,the after-effect would be truly devastating
