Message from Waythamoorthy from London:
If you are unable to view the video, what the leader Waytha says is ask all the Indians to be united and vote for ANY opposition party, and send a strong message to the ruling government that by just giving roads and basic facilities, doesn’t mean that they can buy Indians.
He said the government knows that for last 50 years, Indians have been voting for them and Indian votes are secured like fixed deposit returns.
HINDRAF believes by sending a strong message to BN, the government will wake up and be more sensitive and responsive to the needs of the community. He hopes the government will take into consideration the 18-point memorandum submitted by them.
He further adds that the claim by Pm saying Hindraf may disrupt the election is blatant lie and an attempt to discredit HINDRAF.
UPDATED: MK’s report
Barely two weeks after stating its intention to remain non-partisan in the elections, the Hindu Rights Action Force (Hindraf) has changed its stance – it is now asking supporters to vote for opposition candidates.
“Let us all do our part to deny BN the two-thirds majority as the ‘first step’ and work towards a progressive, cohesive and strong opposition representation in Parliament,” said Hindraf chairperson P Waythamoothy today. He said the opposition has committed to resolving issues affecting the Indian Malaysian community.
“Fifty years of blind loyalty to the BN is enough,” he said in email communication from London when he has been living in self-imposed exile since last December. Waythamoorthy pointed out that the BN had “cheated, oppressed and misled” the community for a long time.
However, he also stressed that Hindraf is not against the Malays or Islam.
“We have lived peacefully and in harmony with the Malays but Umno which controls the BN has deliberately adopted and implemented policies that divide and rule the multi-racial and multi-religious population,” he said. He also accused Umno of instilling fear among Malays in relation to Hindraf’s demands.
This is the first time Hindraf is openly backing opposition candidates in the general election to be held on Saturday. Previously Waythamoorthy had said that the movement wanted to remain apolitical, although he also said it would endorse several candidates.
Hindraf gained prominence after a mass rally in Kuala Lumpur on Nov 25 last year attracted almost 30,000 Indian Malaysians, who called on the government to elevate their economic and social status. Discontent has spread over the lack of opportunities for the community’s development, with the targets of anger being the government and the MIC, the party which represents the community in BN.
‘Makkal candidates’
In an attempt to curb the growing influence of Hindraf, the government has detained five leaders under the Internal Security Act. They are being held for two years at the Kamunting detention centre in Perak. They include Waythamoorthy’s brother and lawyer P Uthayakumar, (photo) who represents the movement’s public face.
Grassroots sentiments have been with Hindraf, leading many to believe that the Indian community will ditch its loyalty to the BN as a sign of protest.
Several Indian independent candidates have also taken advantage of the situation, stating that they are contesting in the interests of the community. While no Hindraf leader is contesting the polls, several of its coordinators – who are also opposition party members – are trying their luck to ride the Hindraf wave.
The more prominent ones are DAP’s M Manoharan (left), one of the ISA detainees, who is standing in the
Among the independents, V Arumugam (Bukit Selambau state seat in Kedah) and N Periasamy (Lembah Pantai parliamentary seat) have openly declared that they are contesting on the back of Makkal Sakthi (people power).

Hello friend, if everything is missing how come you guys are not tapping rubber but leading a comfortable life ?
Perhaps we should send you where there is everything REALLY missing like India…..
Yashi , at times it is difficult to make political judgment being a non-political org. We’ve seen many non-political org giving press statements being supportive to BN . This is a blunder as they simply ‘expecting’ something .
Bro Waytha is humble enough to give golden time for BN to change it’s arrogant mind….
Anyway , many of us been working hard gaining support against BN . Let’s not stop …….. go forward …
Even if you have not enough time at least reach your relations and neighbors .
VOTE OUT BN !
Vetri Nichayam !
see again and again before voting.

Now BN is using all media saying they are the guardian for Indians …… pls…
See carefully 10 cops manhandle one Indian . But look back at the national crime rate statistics ….why so high ??
Vote for better Malaysia !
Vote for Change !
Yes, 10 cops manhandle one Indian is captured but how about 2000 indians throw stones at 50 cops and use vulgar language (ie Batu Caves) ?
You get manhandled if you resist arrest. If you are so brave as you talk and a Gandhi follower, you should not resist but gladly go to jail right ? It only goes to show that these people are gutless.
Also the Makkal Samadhi leaders actually ran away and hid in the Pudu temple to escape the police…ha ha ha….such brave fighters !!

The above are the names of some of the women and children who were brutally raped and killed in Malaysia over the last few years. This list includes children, foreigners, Malays, Chinese, Indians, students, graduates, professionals.
The number of incest cases climbed from 213 in 2000 to 332 in 2006, while reported rape cases jumped from 1,217 in 2000 to 2,341 in 2007. This is BN’s track record with regard to safety of women and children in the country.
And you still want them to form the next government of Malaysia?
another misuse of force….
(Media Conference Statement (2) by DAP Ipoh Timor parliamentary candidate Lim Kit Siang at Ipoh Timor Ops Centre on Wednesday, 5th March 2008)
IGP should suspend Segamat OCPD for using force on seven-month pregnant woman DAP candidate in Labis to demonstrate police respect for women dignity and rights.
The Johore police called an unprecedented 1.30 am press conference in Johore Baru yesterday morning to give their version of the scuffle over a mike between the Segamat OCPD Supt Abd Majid Mohd Ali and the seven-month pregnant woman DAP candidate for Labis Teo Eng Ching in Labis on Monday at about 2.30 pm during my 24-hour four-state 11-stop election whistlestop tour.
This is a reflection of the power of the internet for immediately after the scuffle in Labis at about 3 pm, the Internet was abuzz with reports of a police officer in a scuffle with a seven-month pregnant DAP parliamentary candidate which resulting in her being hospitalized, creating concerns about the health and welfare of both the mother and the unborn child.

i think you don’t have common sense thinking…can you think what will happen if 2000 people threw stone 50 cops..come on man…you can’t even use brain to think something common sense. I think you are wasting your typing writing comment in this blog with your (edit) brain.Better find some good exercise(for your brain) to enhance your common sense and logical thinking ability.
