The last part of the 4-series advertisement came out on Saturday. In this part, MIC lists out its track record in four areas – education, tamil schools, business, and charity. Unfortunately, there’s nothing about 1.5% equity target!
Going through the 4 advertisements, I feel very embarrassed and wondering if can sue the MIC. Their atrocious choice of words and grammatical errors can make people think that Indians have a bad command of English. The so-called sole representative of the Indian community must apologise for spoiling the community name in the eyes of multi-racial readers of the newspapers.
If this is the level of language command among the leaders and this is the type of monitoring being done by MIC, God help us. Simple advertisement also cannot do properly, how to lead and champion the community?
MIC Cares
The power of the truth…
MIC HAS A STRONG AND PROVEN TRACK RECORD FOR DELIVERY
“EDUCATION IS LIFE LINE”
- MIC has dispersed a total sum of RM86 million for not less than 8,000 deserving students since 1985.
- MIC has invested more than RM490 million into its Asian Institute of Medicine, Science and Technology (AIMST) University which is a national pride for all Malaysians. [what is the proof that the college belongs to MIC? Is it under a company incorporated under MIC? Is it possible AIMST can claim it is not affliated to MIC, that MIC is just a sponsor and have no stake in AIMST?]
- MIC’s AIMST will produce more than 12,000 qualified Indians who will spearhead Malaysian Indians as a respected community in the field of medicine, science and technology. [produce when? Over 5 years, 10 years, 100 years?]
The opposition has no plans whatsoever to help the Malaysian Indians in the field of education. [is MIC sure about this?]
MIC UNDERSTANDS THE COMMUNITY’S CHALLENGES IN THE COMING YEARS.
“CREATING WORLD-CLASS TAMIL SCHOOLS”
- MIC has revamped and re-built world class computer laboratories in 76 Tamil schools to provide IT literacy among Indian students
- Under 9th Malaysian Plan, a total of RM46 million have been allocated for rebuilding of Tamil schools. MIC has on its own initiative, obtained a further sum of RM30 million from the government for the betterment of Tamil schools. [when was this RM30 million obtained? After HINDRAF rally? Why nothing on converting status from partially-aided to fully-aided? The RM46 million is only for the fully-aided schools]
- MIC has dispersed RM300,000 annually by providing free UPSR revision books and has produced not less than 2,800 7A students in Tamil schools since 2000. [great!]
The opposition has no plans for Tamil schools. [Wrong! they have a plan, convert partially-aided schools to fully-aided status!].
MIC WORKS FOR THE COMMUNITY WITH A BUSINESS-SOLUTION FOCUS.
“GETTING INDIAN BUSINESSMEN FUNDED”
- Through MIC’s sole initiative, the 2008 Budget has a special allocation of RM3 million for 1000 Indian entrepreneurs. [compare that with RM18 Billion to help 130,000 bumiputera in just LAST four years]
- To create new Indian businesses, MIC has recommended and obtained the support of Institut Keusahawanan Negara to train and create 5,000 micro entrepreneurs by the year 2010. [great news until you know that for the “privileged” people, its 1.1 million people trained in FOUR short years!]
- The Ministry of Finance has allocated RM3 million to MIC through Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia to identify 1,000 potential micro Indian entrepreneurs who require funds up to RM3,000 as revolving fund. [hmm…point number 1 above also says RM3 million for 1000 people. Is it the same thing in different words?]
The opposition has “no business in business”
MIC WORKS HAND IN HAND WITH THE GOVERNMENT TO ADDRESS CHALLENGES FACED BY THE INDIAN COMMUNITY.
“CHARITY FIRST”
- MIC has given out a sum of RM3.2 [the word “million” is missing] between the year 2005-2007 to not less than 2,024 Indians to assist them to seek medical assistance, for natural disaster reliefs and various other basic human needs. [why not use existing government aids? Or are all the welfare for certain people only?]
- MIC has secured RM1 million in 2007 and this was allocated to 200 Indian youths from poor families to secure places in local training institutes. [great! compared to other races, how much is that?]
- MIC has assisted not less than 50% of Indian single mothers through financial aids and self supported programs. [50% of how many mothers? Does this mean MIC knows exactly how many single parent of Indian origin exist in Malaysia?]
The opposition, ‘charity not priority”. [err..how about making minimum wage Rm1500 or giving RM6000 per year as mentioned by opposition manifestos?]

Bro, 3 million for 1000 Indians is only rm 3000 per person. yesterday at the ceramah, DAP brought this newspaper and asked us if 3000 is enough to open up even a mamak stall? the indians were unanimous – TAK CUKUP!
The chinese lady sitting beside me said, ” Pity you indians, your sitiation is worse than the chinese”
My got , that was embarrasing.
This was in seremban, with a crowd over 5000 in rasah jaya, hundreds of Indians sat and listen to mandarin speakers.
Hats off to all indians. DAP candidate for seremban , John Fernandez spoke fluent Mandarin too..
alot of things happening in the ground. People are rooting for change. maybe goverment might change.
Today keadilan Makkal shakti ceramah was even bigger and larger turnout by Total Indian crowd..
Raja Petra has chalenged Indians to prove Makkal Shakthi and thats what we going to do.
Nothing can stop now! Not even by releasing the Hindraf5 at the last moment.
ps: see malaysiakini.tv for iSamy Vellu’s goons assaulting Malay Lady activist in sg,siput
Hello guys
First you say MIC did nothing and when Samy comes out with proof now you say it is not enough.
Let me go point by point.
1. AIMST : Dear Poobalan, i am disappointed with you as I thought you are a fair and balanced person who thinks. How can you question if AIMST belongs to MIC. This is so obvious unless to someone who had been staying in Mars for the last few years.
2. AIMST’s 12,000 doctors : again, this is nit-picking. Instead of rejoicing that Indians no longer had to spend hundreds of thousand to become doctors and also get more chances, you question the time frame.
3. Rm46M for Tamil school : Please be fair. This was announced in the 9th MP and it is there for all to see. 9MP is a 5 year plan and don’t expect all Rm46M to be spent in a year. It takes time to get the school repaired, just ask any engineer due to the approval, tendering, selection and building process.
4. Opposition’s plan : hello, there is a different between election manifesto and actual plan for implementation. Please show me the Opposition’s plan that was done before the HINDRAF’s rally.
5. Rm18 Billion for bumi entrepreneurs ? Source please ?
6. 5000 micro-entreprenuers : The numbers for bumi are almost surely wrong but even if it is true why you are so concerned ? Shouldn’t we worry about the Indians ? Isn’t this an achievement ?
7. Rm3.2M special aid : It makes me laugh at the comments. In most cases these aids are for funerals, bus fare, provision, private medical treatment, etc. Instead of giving credit where it is due, you guys criticise MIC. So what should MIC do ? Stop giving aid ?
8. Minimum wage : Well, i can tell you this. We can kiss the foreign investment good bye with these minimum wage as it will kill of business and our competitiveness. Why do you think the BN govt didn’t introduce this ? The opposition will bankrupt the nation and scare away the investors and drive away local business with its stupid and dangerous policies.
The bottom line is this. MIC has done a lot for the community. In fact much more than this as I can write a research paper on its contribution. Whether it is enough or not may be questionable. But end of the day MIC is just a political party and not a bank or welfare society. It is only as strong as the support it gets from people. I don’t meant votes but the day to day support in terms of financial support and service rendered for various activities.
One thing is clear regardless…..killer, u hv a complex with an inferior rate that’s too high, you seems not to find even a fraction of error in MIC and it’s chief for 3 decades. It’s not wrong that way too, for someone who usually gets 39 marks in exam, getting a 40 once is cheerful. Our MIC chief possibly has achieved that and you’re greatful for that maybe because you’ve planted in your mind the fact that Indians were bad before, are still bad in India, so why question…modesty is not bad but not until allowing issues like Maika holding shares went unnoticed. You may still argue, out of RM10, “makkal” will still get RM1 and this is good enough for a “disgraceful” race??..why question..
Statistically, not everyone will let go this. Ppl with high expectations will question even the smallest of things and those in power needs to answer that..we know what will happen if someone is to question something in AGM correct…
Anyway,
Since “makkal” is now bad in not “appreciating” MIC, let’s throw all the MIC incumbents out in the upcoming election and see what happens…we’re Malaysians afterall correct…let “makkal” experience the difference and to assess for themselves if it’s good or not.
