 PAS must be careful and not treat other states like it does in Kelantan. Perak and Kedah have substantial amount of Chinese and Indians. Plus, PAS will be ruling with support of other parties, and not on its own merit. One religion which cuts across racial boundaries to a certain extent is Christianity. Indians, Chinese, east malaysians, foreigners – all can be Christians. Thus when the churches start to “advise” their voters, the equation becomes a bit more complicated. The Centre for Independent Journalism (CIJ) is concerned that two dailies, Makkal Osai and Oriental Daily, seen to be critical newspapers, have not received their publication permits for 2008 from the Internal Security Ministry.
