MIC unhappy only 34 offered JPA scholarships

We read yesterday about Kamine Devi who scored 10A1s not being offered anything  by PSD (JPA). She should also consider registering an appeal via MIC since they have a representative in cabinet. The community has no choice but to rely on MIC in this case because of the race based politics.

As Samy suggests, it should be an automatic offer for students who fulfill certain criteria  – certain number of As and/or family income. The should be a system integration between MES and JPA so that details of students can be linked. This will avoid cases of not being able to apply online, loss of data, incomplete/invalid application, incorrect data entry etc., and most importantly ensure no deserving students are left out. We are sick and tired of reading in the papers, year after year, students begging for scholarship. Simple thing also cannot solve.

Imagine only 34 get scholarship, out of possibly 2000++ places. Not even 5%, but about 2% only! And already have 194 appeals.

Let’s wait for MCA to reveal the numbers.   » Read more: MIC unhappy only 34 offered JPA scholarships

Hmm….looks like end of the chapter for Alex. Maybe he waiting for party leaders to sack him so that can jump ship to PKR/DAP soon?

Anyways, Samy is still on his nationwide roadshow agenda to brainwash the community. There’s even a new slogan now – New Generation Party! Well, for starters, there should be a rule making those aged 70 and above to retire gracefully or forcefully. Ooops..that means Samy himself!

HINDRAF Nationwide Peaceful Assembly for Uthaya And ISA detainees

HINDRAF together with various other groups and NGOs organised a nationwide peaceful protest (meaning police did not provoke the protesters, no tear gas and water cannons!) in various location in KL, Seremban, Penang, Ipoh, JB etc.

So far, 7 people were taken for questioning in Penang as reported by MK and Anil Netto , including K Sudhagaran Stanley, M Suparamaniam, B Vimal, Lau Shu Shi, Teh Chun Hong (both Suaram members), social activist BK Ong and blogger Sathish.

My guess is that the bloggers like Sudhagaran and Sathish were there to cover the event, but report says they were distributing phamplets. I wonder if the police are actively targetting those with digital camera and video cameras so that the images and videos don’t get into websites. Its a case of you can’t see it, you can’t talk about it, I guess. Anyway, its a bad idea since many many people have camera phones and digicams now. How many people can you can you arrest? One may stand a bit far and use telephoto lens to zoom in or record from a higher ground, so there are virtually unlimited ways to get things recorded. » Read more: HINDRAF Nationwide Peaceful Assembly for Uthaya And ISA detainees

Rise of the CHINDRAF

After HINDRAF showed the power of the Indian community, we now have CHINDRAF- CHeras Irritated N Disappointed Residents Action Force (or Chinese Dedicated Residents Action Force or make your own versions). When 1000 residents gather and get hit by water canon and tear gas, BN can kiss its hopes away for the next election.

Obviously the parties involved – developer, toll operator, state government, federal representatives, JUPEM, lawyers etc., should identify the root cause of the problem. Is it the developer or toll operator? Why should residents suffer for others’ mistake? As we know, legal cases takes ages to reach a verdict, and that also can be appealed. How long should the issue drag on? Until next election or the one after?

What has happened since yesterday’s attack by police on residents: » Read more: Rise of the CHINDRAF

Correct, correct, correct. Not penyangaks, not HINDRAF supporters, not BERSIH people, not lawyers, but residents, like you and me!!!

At first, I did not really take interest in this story. But the interest picked up when the residents and Grand Saga ding-donged with the barriers. One puts up, the other removes.
