Earlier, I wrote that MPs should be forced to take public transport. Looks like one of them already had. MP Johor Bahru and Minister for Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs took ERL from Putrajaya to KL Sentral. Of course the comfort of the stations and the ERL is better than road transport, so there won’t be much complaint about cleanliness, dust etc. However, even ERL is getting packed nowadays as areas surrounding in Salak Tinggi become more populated. There are also people travelling from Putrajaya to KL or Bandar Tasik Selatan. Perhaps its time to lower ERL’s ticket price.

NST and Star both provided some comments from Shahrir.

According to him:

A single ticket to Putrajaya costs RM9.50 and a return ticket costs RM15. Considering Putrajaya is about 30km from the city, the fare is reasonable.

However, in the Star, he prrovided more comments:

“It’s not so convenient since there is no bus connection from my house to KL Sentral to take the ERL to Putrajaya. My wife has to send me to KL Sentral and my driver picks me up in Putrajaya. He will be bringing the matter up in the Cabinet today.

Tracking the system: Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Shahrir Samad arriving at the Express Rail Link station in Putrajaya yesterday, the second day he was trying public transport from his home in Jalan Tunku in Kuala Lumpur to his office in Putrajaya. His verdict after two days? “It’s not so convenient since there is no bus connection from my house to KL Sentral to take the ERL to Putrajaya. My wife has to send me to KL Sentral and my driver picks me up in Putrajaya. He will be bringing the matter up in the Cabinet today. Shahrir is a frequent user of ERL to KLIA.

Bloody useless politicians, for a camera shot they will do anything. Liars ..liars. I remember a similar picture when the fuel price was raised the last time. Ong Kar Ting using the LRT. Tell me , is he still using the LRT ? while the Rakyat are suffering these useless politicians are giving us ‘spins’.

I do support Public Transport but, recently there are some many free car park started to collect money especially those free parking. One of them effect badly on my household. My wife earning small salary from a company located at KL Sentral as we are staying in Banting. So the more convenience and good way from us is to use the Public Transport as government urge. And the fare is not cheap but still effortable for us although the fare has been hike by those ” genius management” after petrol hike as they found that those ERL user can’t live without them, so they petrol hike? i really dun know. As a normal person i thought it will going down as more ppl choose to stop their vehicle at Putrajaya and take ERL to KL sentral to KL City…but i am wrong maybe that why i am not a rich man… However past is past..

But now, my wife told me that they are going to collect the parking fees and based on the signage it gonna be RM 1.00 per hour. Wow it is a really big bomb here. With a petrol hike just happen this year, ERL Fare Hike and now not hike but additional bill need to paid. My wife need to take out from pocket for RM 800 just for Petrol, ERL Fare and Parking Fees ( estimate). And we are almost use out her salary to paid those hard expense which not way to withdraw…Can government consider that as a urge to reduce the Public fare. or they just dun want Rakyat Malaysia to take ERL and this ERL is special make from foreigner? i really dun know. As i knew this make i felt no hope in future and sound like i am going to raise debt if still wish to carry my life in my lovely nation which i growth up. I hope government really need to study carefully in every aspect.

      hi t,

sorry to hear about the expected increase in your wife’s travel expenses.

since staying in banting, why not try take the bus? or maybe drive to klang and take komuter? obviously erl is expensive and not expected to reduce price. in the long run, try look for job in nearby places or even in putrajaya, cyberjaya, salak tinggi, nilai etc.

I am laughing at your comments. If your wife has small salary why then drive all the way from Banting to Putra Jaya ? There are buses in Klang that goes to Sentral and if you buy the monthly RapidPass it is very cheap.
