This benefit comes in the form of a loan or scholarship given to dependant children of an insured employee who is in receipt of a monthly benefit, provided that the dependant children fulfill the eligibility conditions set by SOCSO.

you are eligible for SOCSO Education benefits since your dad is under its pension scheme. Visit the haad office at jalan ampang with all your dad’s particulars and yours. check the website for what else is required. do it today OK

  2. martin says:

    Dear lavender
I feel sorry for you girl. At a stage when you should stay focus and study, you are being haunted by thoughts that if STPM is the right thing to do. STPM science is definitely tough but this is the ticket to a degree and post graduate studies. A level is “expensive” and equally tough I must say. I have nephew, nieces and friends’ kids who sat for STPM, HSC and A levels, trust me they are all on par!!!
People who have money will say STPM is a waste of time and opt for A levels which is fine if you got the money. I did my HSC (science) 25 years ago at a time when there were no private colleges and so called university colleges. But to do form 6 back then you need to have an aggregate of not more then 10. STPM today is no less inferior to it in any way but due to political reasons which leads to the people undermining this quality exam.

STPM is indeed a poor man’s path but for SMART students ONLY as it is very demanding but very rewarding in the end. Private colleges in Malaysia are all simply in the “$$$ Business” and none of the foreign universities listed are anywhere in the top 100 in the world. Money gets you the course you want even without the basic qualification but is that course recognized worldwide.

Here is some encouragement for you.
My daughter did STPM in 2009 and scored 4 A and 1B. She studied at her norm and only went for tuition in Literature because it was not offered at her school and she took it as her 5th subject. She never had tuition from year 1 till form 5!!! All she did was focus in class and studied at home under our guidance and did revision with work books and lots of it.
She never burned the midnight oil nor quit watching TV or listening to her favourite songs etc.
She was normal teenager. She was in science and scored 8A’s in SPM. She had her mind set since form 4 that she will do SPTM and get her 1st degree in a local university in her choice of course. She told us from day 1 that she wants a degree from a reputed local uni and not any college.
Her passion is English and literature and so she is pursuing her dream of being a writer. We taught our kids to be passionate about life and to do what pleases them and that brings joy. We also showed them that “$$$” is secondary in Life. Happiness is what counts and money can never buy you happiness and good health.

Get the myth out of your mind that STPM is a waste of time. Please enjoy your life as a teenager doing what you should be doing for you will never come this way again path again in your life. Study as you plan to, play and enjoy time with family and friends. Stop talking about suicide as it is such a negative mindset. Watch quality movies and not run down the mill movies.
Do not let others dictate you on your choice of career in life. Stay focus and achieve your goals and always trust in GOD for HE never fails those who believe in HIM

    • Lavender says:

@martin, Hi, Martin Uncle! You are the one who encouraged me after my parents.Even until today , i am worried whether i took a right decision or not by doing STPM .This because i am a SPM 2009 straight A’s student.Rest of my friends are doing foundation in private college although they have little A’s with them in SPM .

I become very sad as money makes a big difference in our life. However, my dad had retired &my mom is just a house wife.I don’t have the heart to ask them to send me to private college although they are willing to send me .

But sorry to say , i don’t really think about doing STPM till the JPA SCHOLARSHIPS results comes out.Somehow, i will study hard in STPM again and promise will obtain straight A’s again in 2011.By the way , can i know whether ur daughter was in science stream or arts for her STPM??

Again, UNCLE MARTIN , I would appreciate a lot of your encouragement that you have given to me….. THANK YOU !!!!!!!!!!

    • poobalan says:

Mr Martin, thank you very much for sharing your experience. I’m sure it will be useful for the students.

  3. Vaishnevi says:

i completed my SPM in 2009 with 10As (6A+/4A). i applied for the JPA scholarship but was unsuccessful. I appealed via the website & MIC but when the appeals & local scholarship results came out, i was unsuccessful yet again. currently, my family is not in a position to afford financing my education as my father has just lost his job. due to this, i’m doing form 6. i wish to pursue a degree in medicine. besides the JPA scholarships, i have applied for SimeDarby’s but never got a reply from them either. are there any other scholarships i can opt for? your advice on this issue will deeply be appreciated. thanks & regards.

    • poobalan says:

      hi vaishnevi,

at the moment, no medicine scholarship available to my knowledge.

try follow up with MIC on the appeal.

you can still do Form 6 and try for IPTA later.

  4. JO says:

    hello sir…
I got a degree in Computer Science(Bioinformatics) course offer in UTM.I would like to get some opinions about this course and its beneficial criteria from you.And Im a stpm bio students. Do tell me about the future prospects on this course and is it worthy to be studied?
    Thank You.

    • poobalan says:

      hi jo,

UTM’s computer science program is well known among the IPTA (my biased opinion since i graduated from there 🙂 )

      firstly read about bioinformatics here:

since its much related to the healthcare industry, i must say that the job opportunity is limited. many of the “bio-” courses having problem since graduates can’t find suitable employment.

however, if you can learn extra skills in computer science, then can venture into other areas of IT, and IT is a very wide industry.

for me, the advise is that computer science involves learning the theories and also acquiring the latest skills. if you are able to learn new skills, then you are more likely to get a job compared to fellow graduates.

  5. miserable......... says:

Dear sir, I have obtained 11A’s for my SPM 2009.And yet I didn’t secure for any scholarship that I applied such as Sime Darby,Petronas, matrix and etc..I was called for the interview for JPA but at last I didn’t get through it.I was very frustated as that was my only hope to pursue my further studies. My family is just a middle class and I didn’t to burden mt parent as my younger brothers are still schooling.Currently I am doing my Form 6.I felt some kind as my other friends have already studying foundation in private colleges while I am here doing Form 6.I believe I can score strait A’s for my STPM too..the question is that will I get any scholarship if I score strait A’s for my STPM???I couldn’t take the pain anymore as being a strait A student but not geting any scholarship…………..Or any other alternative way??? plzzz!!!I desperately need a guidance now>>>

    • poobalan says:

      hi miserable,

well i’ll be miserable as well if i were in your position. tough luck, life’s not fair in short term.

since you can’t afford private colleges (actually some colleges will give you full scholarship for foundation since you got more than 10As), then Form 6 is only option. and since you feel can do well in form 6, then go for it! stay focused and try your best.

if you get 4As, then apply for IPTA and hope that can your course of choice. once in IPTA, you can apply for JPA scholarship.

  6. Shanti says:

“hi sir, im 21 and will be in my 2nd year degree in less than a month. Sadly i did not apply for any scholarships as ive not done well for stpm, only a 3.00. However, ive managed to get a CGPA 3.9 most scholarship application are closed i will be waiting for next batch of scholarship offers. Is there any opportunities available left for a 2nd year student? I was thinking of applying for the JPA PIDN.”

Hi sir, sorry for not giving the adequate information. Well im currently doing Food Studies in UPM. I really hope to get the JPA scholarship so may I know when JPA would offer my batch the scholarship again? Ive heard of rumours that it will be offered this month,is it true? Thank you very much in advance

    • poobalan says:

      hi shanti,

the application will open soon. exact date not sure since everyone is waiting for JPA to announce. expect to be in july when the new intake students come in. it will be announced on major newspapers, and at of course, you can refer to this blog too 🙂

yes, 2nd year students can apply but i think CGPA should be 3.50 above. as for the course, its subject to change, but last time Food Science was in the list of accepted courses.

  7. karaen says:

    hi sir,

” i’m completed my matriculation programme and nw been offered 4 IPTA for the course perubatan dan pembedahan at UDM. I didnt get JPA scholarship after my SPM. So, can i get JPA scholarship nw or i have 2 apply 4 the ptptn loan???

  8. raj says:

i’m a medical student who has finished his 1st year at Moscow Medical Academy, Russia . unfortunately due to some unavoidable circumstances i apparently need a study loan to pay my fees for my future medical years there. other than MIED loan, where else can i apply. or is it possible for me to apply for scholarship whatsoever?
    what are ur suggestions?

    • poobalan says:

many students doing medicine seem to be asking the same thing, and my answer also the same:

      – JPA loan (after finished 1st sem and from selected uni only)
      – bank loan (personal loan scheme)
      – MIED (small amount and higher interest rate)
      – MCEF (need to talk to them)

i’m not aware of other loans/scholarships for students already studying in overseas uni for medicine programs.

  9. dianah says:

hi, I completed my degree in chemistry field in one of the local U. Can i know is there any scholarship/sponsor for pursuing master/pHD at oversea? I have a good matriculation and SPM result but got second lower class for my degree.

    • poobalan says:

having 2nd class lower may be a big problem. you need to refer to international scholarship websites. refer to page two of scholarships on this blog. there’s a link to Scholarship Online website.

  10. lis says:

hi,i m student after matriculation, may i ask how much the salary after degree biomedical science n what sponsorship offer scholarship to biomedical science student?

    • poobalan says:

      hi lis,

generally, salary from degree holder is between 1500 and 2500. but currently, the demand for biomedical grads are not much. even scholarships aren’t many, and most, if not all, are closed already.

  11. Confused Sham says:

Sir, may I ask if I can apply for PTPTN loan using my A-Levels result. I plan to do pharmacy in the future. Some say I wont obtain PTPTN using A-Levels, if it’s true then I am doomed. Please clarify to me sir? Thanks in advance.

    • poobalan says:

as far as i know, PTPTN only accepts SPM results or cert from kolej komuniti, or diploma from politeknik. so, even though you have a-levels, you still apply using SPM results, which just needs 3 credits.

  12. jojo says:

hi dere….jpa has been offering pidn scholarships to all ipta, utp, uniten and multimedia uni lately….i would want to get that scolarship for my medicine degree but i’m not from any instituitions stated in their list of instituitions…i would like to know wether jpa will offer a scholarship for students from private uni soon??if there is, when will it be?if there isn’t any from jpa, can u pls suggest other parties that offer scholarships for medicine?

    • poobalan says:

jojo, jpa will not offer scholarship for IPTS other than those sponsored under PIDN and those cases under PILN who got to study locally only.

as for alternative for medicine scholarship other than JPA, this is popular question and the answer is none that is available now.

  13. tiro says:

    • poobalan says:

      hi tiro,

you should check with your employers, maybe they can sponsor your study. other options is to check other hospitals or medical centers to see if they are willing to offer scholarship. you can try write in to their HR department.

  14. Prakash says:

sir,i get only 5as 5Bs and 1c in spm.nw i do spm .i tink to do a-level.Is it a-level best or stpm best 4 my result?

    • poobalan says:

      hi prakash,

if you aim to enter IPTA, then have to do STPM. if you plan to study elsewhere, then take a-levels if you can afford it.

If nt m planni 2 do medic in Mahsa University College… its MBBS prog… ther d cost is affordable n cheaper… Wts ur opinion sir… MBBS is better than MD rite?.. m cnfused.. hope ull enlighten me… thnx..

    • poobalan says:

      hi abi,

the USM for Medic is a twinning program with Indians uni. and so the cost is different. JPA does offer loan but depends on the uni and also you must have completed at least a semester first before applying.

if you can’t afford to cover the cost, may try other option like bank loan.

as far as i know, MBBS and MD are terms used in different countries, and nothing more.

      • abi says:

thnx sir….. sir, do u hv ani other suggestions of me applyin ani bank loans if i were 2 study in mahsa…

        • poobalan says:

if you were to study in mahsa, PTPTN will cover about 160k (depending on family income) of the cost. you will still need about rm120k more. option left is bank loan or maybe mortgage/sell property. or if later MAHSA offers scholarship, you can try for it (IF they offer).

  16. Sathia says:

sir, where n how can apply loan for the arcitectural course?

  17. abi says:

thnx sir.. sir, if i wana apply overseas uni.. hw do i do tat… wer cn i apply them?

    • poobalan says:

if you want to apply for overseas uni, you can apply directly to them or go through the placement agents. There’s a few registered placement agencies. i’ve listed some at:

you will need to take entrance exams or foundation programs. also, you will need an NOC certificate from MOHE. your placement agent will guide you on the procedure.

  18. gravis says:

i’m a first year medical student at um.besides jpa and ptptn, what other scholarship can i apply without having to work for them for a very long time after graduated?

    • poobalan says:

i’m afraid there’s none that i know of. for medic, you have to work for govt (compulsory service), so who want to sponsor other than govt?

  19. hema says:

hello…hema here…currently pursuing my ACCA, part 2..i was just wondering if there’s any foundation which offers scholarship/loans? would love to hear fr u…thanks loads in advance…

    • poobalan says:

ACCA is not an degree program, so not covered by most foundations/companies. so far, i haven’t seen any advertisements on ACCA scholarship. best if you approach your college and ask them.

are you doing undergraduate program? you should have applied for JPA scholarship (deadline over already). other than that, whatever scholarships available at the moment is listed in this page.

      • velan says:

        yes im doing undergraduate program,,,,,,,,,,,tq

        • poobalan says:

u should refer to your hal ehwal pelajar office which will stick the advertisements on scholarship often. since 2nd semester will start soon, some scholarships will be adverstised. but most will be offered in may-july period only. you can refer to this blog from time to time, or subscribe for my FB or twitter.

  22. Lilis says:

I’m Lilis. I have financial problem and I dont know if i can further my study because of this matter. I have been offered by Bangor University, Wales to further study in MSc Environmental Forestry. I had my scholarship before from JPA for my bachelor study at UPM. I had applied to them for this master programme but they rejected my application. I have also gone to mara to consult on this matter but they only give loan to students who pursue at their recognize universities.

What else can I do for this matter? I really2 want to further my study in this course since it’s my passion.

Hope you can reply me asap via email if possible.

    Thanks & regards,

    Lilis (^_^)

    • poobalan says:

you can ask the uni itself if they can offer position as research assistant or tutor, which can help to cover the cost of living. they may also have internal scholarship programs. another option is to try for those companies related to forestry and environment, like plantation firms (IoI, Sime, KLK, Guthrie etc) , timber firms, and also international bodies related to your field. you can write to them to inquire about scholarship offers. another option is Maxis, but i think the postgrad application is in end of 2010 only.

if its not recognised uni, you will have a problem securing scholarships locally.

  23. muslin zain says:

I got JPA, Khazana and BN scholarships for medicine to study overseas…which one to choose…?

    • poobalan says:

i think many people will be envious, disappointed, proud, and even angry to read your comments! spoilt for choices is not an everyday scenario, and in fact, i think its the first time for to get such a question.

      to answer this, compare :

bond/not bonded. if bonded, the duration.
      amount sponsored
what the sponsorship covers (foundation, degree, cost of living, flight tickets, internship etc.)

because its medicine, you can skip the first criteria because you have to come back and serve the housemanship period.

if the difference is not much, just pick one of them. after all, its the govt’s money.

hey, its not hard to decide is it? after all, if you got 3 offers, you must be a brilliant student 🙂

  24. Kiat says:

i would like to ask if i need loan for just my A-levels exam fees, how can i get it?please enlighten me…

    • poobalan says:

      hi kiat,

i’m not aware of anyone offering loan for a-levels. however you can apply loan for foundation program from selected IPTS via PTPTN.

you should try the chinese clan association, Kojadi etc. in case they offered loans for pre-uni program.

  25. moggy says:

hello mr. poobalan, i recently graduated with bachelor of medical science ( cgpa of 3.79 ). i obtained a seat for medical school however i would like to do masters. however i would like to know whether it is possible for me to do phd straight in any overseas uni… wat would you suggest

    • poobalan says:

it depends on your ambition. doing a master is not the same as doing a medical degree. doing medical degree means you will be medical doctor. while doing masters means you will be in the “researcher” category. its possible to do PhD directly after bachelor degree, but it depends on how the uni views your project. if the topic is deemed suitable to qualify you for a PhD, the faculty will recommend so. you usually enrol as master student first, and along the way, may try apply to convert the program to PhD based on your research work. your supervisor needs to be consulted of course.

  26. Navin says:

Hi Mr.Poobalan.My name is Navin 20m.I’m writing this email to know whether i have the eligibilty to get the MCEF loan or not.For your information,i finished my SPM in 2007.Then i joined Nursing course in 2008 at Segi University College.Unfortunately,i can’t continue my studies due to my phobia about hospital environment. It’s my mistakes that i joined this course although i have problem.I studied there for one semester that is 4 month. My full course fee is Rm60,000.I managed to get PTPTN loan. When i withdrawal from the course,i’d been reminded that i have to pay about Rm10,000 for PTPTN which is the fee for me studying there for one Semester. When i planned to join other course i can’t get PTPTN loan due to my previous balance. So in 2009 May i joined Foundation in bussiness at University Tunku Abdul Razak in Kelana Jaya and finished at July 2010.The fee is about Rm 5000 which i paid by working partime and half of it is paid by my parents. So now i’m facing the problem in which i failed to get loan for me to continue my Bachelor in Bussiness. So i want to know whether i can apply for the MCEF loan to continue my studies.Hope “Ms.Chitra” will give me some idea on this.

Hello sir, currently im duin my degree in psychology in IPTS, and im looking forward to continue my master at oversea, but finance is a big problem. Can I get information on those scholarships that can be applied for the field of psychology? Thank you so much.

    • poobalan says:

      hi priya,

      1. why not do your master locally where its much more cheaper?

      2. if you still insist on going overseas, best is to check with your target uni and also the embassies.

  29. crash says:

    Good day Sir,

Do you know any college or university in Malaysia offering degree programme for Automotive/Automobile ?

At the same time, I wish to know if there is any possibilities or options to do Phd after completing degree (with second class upper : 3.43 cgpa & also dean’s list awards)…

    Tks in advance….

    • poobalan says:

you have to pursue your masters after completing degree (even if you get 2nd upper). what usually happens is that during the course of your master program (research based master, not the coursework type), if your faculty feels that your research is worthy to be upgraded to a PhD level, then they will propose to do so. so, it depends on your research topic, your supervisor opinion, your faculty evaluation.

  30. Aghilan says:

    • poobalan says:

can you be specific on what advice you want? if you want to study O&G, then your science, maths and english subjects must have good results. if you looking for scholarships, go for 10A+.

  31. kevin says:

Hi, can I knw if there is any scholarships available for post graduates study and for a single mother family?

    • poobalan says:

i don’t have capacity to handle postgrad scholarships in this blog. i focus mainly on school leavers. you can refer to other websites listed in second page for postgrad scholarships.

  32. Mira says:

Sir, currently Im in IPTA, after finished this course, I plan to do another degree in UNIKL in Aircraft engneering
The problem is, PTPTN , JPA and also MARA does not provide loan for 2nd degree..
I want to learn this so much. I regret now entering IPTA.. Is there any way to apply for loan?

    • poobalan says:

there are other loan providers but most have an age limit. so you have to check that requirement first.

you can try pinjaman from the state governments or foundations.

  33. Subashini says:

    sir ,

i am 1st year student in Limkokwing university and currently im doin my diploma in interior design course. I want a loan that can help me to finish up studies, because when i want to apply for PTPTN loan, they told becaus my BM dun have credit so i cant apply for PTPTN loan, so can u suggest that any other loan that can help me to finish up my stuides sir. Tq.

    • poobalan says:

      hi subashini,

i’ve listed some of the loan providers in this page. you can give try with them. But with your BM not being a credit, it will be tough. why not take the bm paper next july and get a credit?

  34. saestre a/p selvakumar says:

hello sir, im s.saestre, 24.i previously studied bachelor of medical science for 4 years. it cost rm 60,000. i just manage to get ptptn, rm 22,000. i stil debt my university rm 34,790 for currently im doing 3rd year in mbbs and it cost rm195,000 to continue my studies. i have applied ptptn, but no news there any other source esp scholarships i cn rely apart from ptptn. thank you sir.

    • poobalan says:

      hi saestre,

have you repaid PTPTN loan? PTPTN won’t give 2nd loan if doing same level program (in your case, both are bachelor degrees).

i think you have to plan carefully with the assumption that won’t get ptptn.

as for other scholarships, now the scholarship season is mostly closed. you have to wait till next feb/march, but even then, have to compete with the fresh SPM leavers.

  35. Darma says:

sir, i am going to sit for spm this year. i want to do Aeronautical Engineering. sir pls advise me on the right college and scholarships
    thank you sir

    • poobalan says:

      hi Darma,

1stly, hope you get good results in SPM. After SPM you can enrol in diploma/foundation in UTM or go for STPM, and then apply for aeronautical in USM, UTM, UPM.

in IPTS, i’m not aware of aeronautical engineering course, but some colleges may have mechanical engineering specialising/majoring in aeronautical.

  36. Lily says:

    hi sir,
what happens to those jpa scholars doing A-levels, SAM etc who do not pass the mark set by jpa? are they given another chance like re-test. My forecast results is quite bad but jpa have ask us to get our suit measured, apply for our passport, attend the BDN camp etc etc.
    thank u very much

    • poobalan says:

I’m not sure about this case but i dont think JPA would be giving chance for resit or retest.

why not you try asking at, or or

  37. Darma says:

sir how about studying in other countries. are there any scholarship. JPA? what are the universities avalable?

    • poobalan says:

JPA scholarship is available for both local and overseas (PIDN and PILN), and yes covers engineering. you can request for aeronautical, but the decision is up to JPA. as for list of universities, it depends on JPA’s policy year to year. next year, they may think want to send more students to Japan or Germany (for example).

  38. ruzzz says:

    Hello sir,
i’m studying engineering biochemical / biotechnology course in ipta somewhere within selangor area. i recently got 3.085 out of 4 for my sem1 1st year cgpa. i really want to know if i can apply any local scholarship on engineering for that cgpa?
as far as i’m concerned, there are some companies offered for 3 and above. please help me.

    • poobalan says:

      hi ruzzz,

your results are quite on the low end for scholarship. anyway, you can give a try when the scholarships are out. at the moment, there’s only a few. more scholarships will be offered as it gets closers towards spm/stpm results announcement date.

  39. martin says:

    Dear Lavender
I am very happy to hear that I did some good to after all. I figure it is your decision at the end of day. I just hope you are settled into doing what is pleasing you right now, it could be a JPA scholarship, SPTM or whatever choice of course you have decided on

it is my pleasure to share my knowledge and experience and hopefully i get to lift the spirits of one child among the many disillusioned child out there today.

  40. crystal says:

sir I am currently doing actuarial science a 2+2 twinning programme with the us. I just finished my two years in Help Institute and I got accepted to Drake University to continue for another two years. My current cgpa is 3.13. Is there any loan or scholarship that I can apply to? Does ptptn offer loan for overseas studies?
    Thank you

    • poobalan says:

the best place to check is with your current college and also the target university. but, having 3.13 is not so easy to obtain scholarship. very few scholarships is for overseas studies especially if you are in IPTS.

      2. ptptn doesn’t give loan for overseas courses.

  41. School Leaver says:

    Dear Sir,

Time passing fastly, Do u still remember this school leaver? im taking STPM as private student in 2010 and just finished it few days ago…and i would like to ask about do I need to buy the PIN CODE from BSN before the result come out as the MPM stated that the purchases of PIN started from 10 Jan 2011??

Secondly, i wolud like to ask about as im not attending for F6 and just taking stpm as calon psendirian, so i dun have any coco marks for F6 rite, so can i use my F4/F5 coco marks or working experience to get the marks bcos 10% is quite a lot for consideration in entering my favorite course… Sir, is it the koko marks 10% and STPM 90%? or the STPM 100% and the coco is just a marker if they is 2 ppl choose a same course while there is only limited seat??

If, i just means if accidently (Just in case even thought the possibility quite low, hehe) i get 3.5 above, can i apply JPA scholarship for local uni or any others scolarships recommeded???

Thanks a lot for ur encouragement while im taking stpm by myself…..

    • School Leaver says:

and i got Band 3 only for MUET, if im not intend to get English Based courses or Lawyer courses, do i need to resit until i get Band 4???

      • poobalan says:

if you got band 3 and got a-/b+ during spm, then should be ok. if not, you have to resit to get band 4 (or whatever required) for the english or law program.

    • poobalan says:

      hi again,

too many students, so can’t really recall.

      anyway, answers to your question:

pin need to buy after the date they announced. you can buy and keep it first.

the problem with the koko marks is that it will be zero. academic marks is 90% and you can’t replace the 10% from other sources. best if you call up UPU and clarify with them.

yes you can apply any scholarship that is for STPM leavers.

      good luck.

  42. Nandakumar A/l Sengoden says:

My daughter by the name Tushita, waiting for SPM result and she is in Science Sream, Now I am going the join her in Penang to GCE “A” level. Afte I am planning to send her for medical in Manipal. Can she is get scholarship to continue for GCE “A” . Currently I am 58yrs old still working in Intel as Project Safety Enginner. Pls advise.

    • poobalan says:

      Hi Mr Nanda,

There are some colleges that offer scholarship for pre-u program like A-levels. 1stly, you should check with the college you are going to enrol her in. BUT, sometimes, the pre-u scholarship may have some restrictions for example must pursue certain degree only or must study in certain college only. And i assume her trial results are excellent.

2ndly, scholarship news will appear from time to time (mostly betweeen november and june) so you have keep an eye on the newspaper and internet sites.

  43. Shal Segar says:

First of all sir, I would like to thank you for creating such a site to help many students like me. Sir, actually I really need your help. Well, am 19 this year. Completed my foundation in science as well. I have made myself determine to chase after my ambition. Yes, sir. My ambition is to be a doctor. I wanna continue to do my Medical Degree in Indonesia (Andalas University, Padang). This is because, Andalas provides a flexible 1st payment and it is considered to be one of the medical schools in da world with low amount of tuition fee. Am making myself prepared by going to work and saving some money till am leaving to indonesia. The problem is i can’t seem to find an source to solve my money problem. I would like to have solutions for my problems. It would be really helpful if I am given an oppurtunity to apply for study loans, so that I can pay them when I’ve graduated. Thank you, Sir. Hope to get a reply from you soon.

    • poobalan says:

      hi shal segar,

i hope you have verified that your foundation results are accepted at the uni, and that the uni is recognised by MMC. also, you’ll need a NOC from higher education ministry if want to study overseas.

studying overseas is a problem, especially for field like medicine as the loan or scholarship is very rare. most students self-finance, but its not easy due to high cost. you try personal loan (via parents) but other than that, I don’t see any alternatives. JPA does have a loan but its only appliable after you complete at least one semester of the degree program.

  44. Lavender says:

Hi Mr Martin……How are you? I am so surprised as you still remember me after a long time! Thanks alot for your advice …….nope i don’t manage to get JPA scholarship. Its ok ……I am doing my lower six currently….it is going very well…..By taking your advice ,do you know that i manage to get 3.95 pointer for my final exam last year…it was amazing and makes me to work harder and not just keep that for once……Thanks alot Mr.Martin…..and i will make sure that I obtained a good result in Stpm next year…………

  45. sagadevan says:

Dear sir, my daughter had 11A for her SPM last year. She is keen in doing Nuclear Engineering in . USA. She is in Sunway College now doing her American Degree Transfer Program. Is there any help in terms of schlorship/loan offered by any institution or government?. She attended the JPA interview but was rejected when the JPA results were published. She is very disappointed! Need your kind advise sir, She wants to go to USA.

    • poobalan says:

      hi Mr Saga,

The usual option is to check with Sunway – the have their own scholarship foundation. also can check the university she plans to study. MACEE is also another option. i have listed some links as well in this section – can check out Scholarships Online.

  46. raj91 says:

    hello sir,
I am waiting for my STPM(science stream) result currently. I want to be a pilot or an aircraft engineer. I wish i can get a seat in UTHM where they are providing both pilot licence and degree in aircraft engineering when I apply for IPTA after my result come out. I have applied for cadet pilot AIRASIA too. Besides, can i know other ways to be a pilot? and I dont think I afford to take the pilot licence privately..

    • poobalan says:

      hi raj91,

if taking license privately is not an option, then your option is to apply for cadet pilot in airlines like airasia, sia, mas etc.

i’m not aware of other universities offering pilot license under the degree programs.

  47. kumar says:

hi sir, i was doing my lower six science stream and i got an offer for foundation course in a private university as they promise for a scholarship. lured by that statement my family decided to stop me from form six and enter for the course. i was there for 2 weeks and regretted every moment as everything was money oriented. so during my deepavali break, i told my parents how it was there and i decided to do a recognized pre u that is a-level. the full fee is expensive and i guess that is the price i have to pay for leaving form 6. however would i still be able to secure scholarship provided that my result is good to do medicine after my a-levels?

    • poobalan says:

sorry to hear about your predicament. unfortunate that your parents were misled by the scholarship offer. form 6 is still the best option for those looking for cheaper (but unguaranteed) route to uni. A-levels is expensive.

there’s no guarantee that you can secure scholarship/loan after a-levels, especially for medicine. in fact, you may find that you can’t even apply for most scholarships since its for spm leavers, or not for medicine studies.

  48. yyun09 says:

    Dear sir,

I am a recent Universiti Utara Malaysia law graduate, and I am looking to do Masters in International Law and Human Rights.
My CGPA is around 3.15, which I believe is not very high, but I have very strong law based co-curriculur to support my application, such as having represented the country 3 times at international level moot court competitions, as well as being a two time national moot champion. Could you please advise as to the scholarships I may apply for?
    Thanks and cheers!

    • poobalan says:

      Hi Joshua,

your best bet would be to inquire at the universities where you plan to further study. secondly, you can give a try with the embassies/high commissions, MACEE, Commonwealth countries etc.
