subra to make a comeback?

Posted by poobalan at 11:13 pm under Indian | | View blog reactions

I have seen Subra a few times so far. The first time was at university, and his perfume had a strong alcohol smell. The second time was in Segamat, at a restaurant. He was with some people having lunch. I can’t recall the third time I’ve seen him, i think it was at some temple or religious function.

Personally, as the call is being made to drop veterans from , I think he should not contest in coming elections. It will be hard for SV to drop veterans and then take in Subra.

Subra tight-lipped about comeback

KUALA LUMPUR: Former deputy president Datuk S. ’s supporters are on the offensive for their leader’s political comeback. A source from ’s inner circle claimed that their leader had met Barisan Nasional’s top leadership on the possibility of contesting a seat. He also claimed the matter had been relayed to president Datuk Seri S. but there had been no development on the matter.

When asked, refused to comment. The only thing he said was: “People are talking about it. My supporters still want me to rep-resent them.”

also declined to comment when asked, saying that: “It is all rumours. Let it remain as rumours.”

It was reported in Tamil dailies that ’s son, S. Vel Pari, had met recently. Vel Pari, however, denied meeting the former deputy president on poll matters. “He has known me since I was a little boy. Out of respect, I acknowledge him wherever I see him,” he said.

deputy president Datuk G. Palanivel and vice-president Datuk S. Veerasingam also refused to comment on the speculation. ’s staunch supporter K.P. Samy, also a former central working committee member, said that if his leader made a comeback, it could cool off the tension between the members, many of whom were allegedly still angry over ’s “forced” departure two years ago.  “The opposition is also worried that ’s supporters, who are currently in other parties, might swing back Indian votes to BN if he makes a comeback,” he said.

Former vice-president Datuk V. Govindaraj is also openly campaigning for the return of to mainstream politics. “ can regain some of the confidence and the Indian votes that had waned since the Hindraf rally on Nov 25 if is brought back to the main fold. “He still commands a large following among the Indian community,” he said.

If supporters and political pundits were not enough to resurrect Subramanian’s political career, astrologers, too, were hard at work to prove the point. Astrologer P. Suthanthiran said ’s stars were good and good things would happen to him from now. “According to his birth date, which is on Oct 26, 1946, the stars are in a favourable position and he will enjoy good fortune at least for the next five years,” he said. “He will prosper in all fields, even in politics. He will rise high and might even be made a full minister as I see his salary will increase to more than RM30,000 a month,” he said, in reference to a minister’s monthly salary.
