And most of the time, it will backfire. The person will end up being a part-timer for every job. Plus, he will be branded as greedy and power crazy, even though the intentions are good. Please give others a chance to help in nation building.
My say is that Kula should forget this idea. He can also lend his experience to the new Mayor (whom should be pro-Pakatan). Now, if the post is given to an Indian, since I think PR haven’t really escaped the racial barrier fully, it would be much easier for Kula to communicate.
Kula’s move questioned
IPOH: Ipoh Barat MP M. Kulasegaran must quit as an elected representative if he wants the job of Ipoh Datuk Bandar, said PKR assemblyman Chang Lih Kang.
Chang, who is Teja assemblyman, said he was shocked when he was informed that the second-term DAP MP was interested in becoming the Datuk Bandar.
“I am strongly against Kula vying for the mayor post unless he gives up his position as the MP for Ipoh Barat,” said Chang, who is also Perak PKR Youth deputy information chief.
Chang said all this in his blog posting yesterday.
“It has got nothing to do with race, capability or political party. “The only reason is that Kula is the MP for Ipoh Barat,” he wrote. “It is sickening to see an individual holding two very important posts at the same time,” he said.
Chang also said that the people deserved more than a part-time mayor and MP.
Kulasegaran had been quoted on a news website as saying that he would be able to address the problems of the people if he were to be selected as Datuk Bandar. He said that as a two-term Ipoh Barat MP, he knew the city and its people well so he would be able to better address them as the Datuk Bandar.
Chang also wrote that he hoped the matter could be settled within the Pakatan Rakyat or else another round of “political chaos” would occur in Perak.
It is learnt that the three parties have not discussed the issue of a new Datuk Bandar. The tenure of current Datuk Bandar Datuk Mohammad Rafiai Moktar ends in June.
Well, As a Ipohan i fully support Kula for the MAYOR post.
He has been all the time for us in his ipoh office whether he was a MP or not.
Im sure the man can juggle MP and Mayor post easily.
Sleeper Pak Lah can juggle 2 WHOLE MINISTRIES , and we say this man cannot juggle 1 MP and 1 Mayor ?

i don’t think can compare Kula with PM 🙂 that will be unfair to PM.
if and if Kula is nominated, the BR must come out with solid reason WHY. for us the commoners, it will clearly look like a case of power-grabbing. surely there is a qualified person that Kula can recommend since he is well versed in IPoh affairs. Dont tell me not even Ipohan or malaysian is qualified? this is trial period for BR and they cannot afford to fail. each mp/exco/adun must put 200% effort, and holding many positions will be detrimental.
i can forsee it happening in penang soon as the DCM 1 and DCM 2 are getting put into many committees, nearly every week got news that either one or the other, or both are heading some committee or team. how long until they breakdown or commit a snafu? it is better to put someone else, but if BR says no one else if fit for the jobs…what to do?
And the decision must be conveyed to members of 3 parties, and the rakyat. if not, BR in perak will turn into another BN. seen to be aloof, not listening to rakyat, making unilateral decisions, in-fighting…manyak susah oh…
Well, i see it like this.. BR( PASK+PKR) is just malay ultra like UMNO.There are doing,anyone but Indians policy.. Or maybe they are giving sweeteners for BN people to cross over to BR.

I’m just comparing peanut jobs compared to Pak Lah full fledged 2 ministries under him.Of course we can debate that PM has Deputies who run the show for him. I’m sure Kula will be having his own side kicks to run the show,( A.Sivasub and buddies) We r not asking for 101 commities like Guan ,P.Ramasany.Just one MP and A mayor.After all he is MP for half of Ipoh,and both jobs criss cross in many places. So it will be easier,not harder for a person to manage Ipoh.

Most of the problems which are happily highlighted by Main Stream Media are created by old DAP members who think Guan and PR just got lucky with Makkal Sakthi wave. That is kind of true also. And with Kula, DAP members in Ipoh,be it Indians or Chinese support him.

i always have my doubts on PAS. religion can easily be misused in a second. PKR is just tumpang sekaki with the two parties.
for me, whether its BN, BR, or anything from BA to BZ, they must respect the citizen. don’t make fools out of the rakyat. don’t insult their intelligence, you the parties will learn the lesson in a hard way.

Yeah, he covers half of Ipoh, and also covers national issues. Thus i see it as a benefit if there is a separate person who will be around if Kula is not. Ipohans can enjoy both Kula’s presence, and another person who is Mayor. 2 is better than one, no? Obviously, i refer to a competent and capable Mayor who will serve the people, not a person who create problems for the people. if Kula is the only choice, so be it la.
DAP grassroots (maybe minority) is making problem for the Prof. If he is not careful, it will spread. if there have been mistakes, admit. if there are post seeking members, reveal them. honesty is the best policy. He must attend to this problem soon.
Hmm….being ultra may cause problem…since other ultras will request for their own rep. if all agree on one person, easier. but in reality, everyone will nominate someone the like.

I had been telling for a long time but people here had been blind to truth.
There is not an aota of sympathies for Indians within PKR or PAS. All the dancing and singing was to grap Indians’ votes and after the election we are conveniently forgotten.
Of course I have more confident in DAP leadership based on their track records and the sincerity of their leaders. But again as demonstarted in Penang and Perak, there are issues in DAP too.
First of all, we must remember DAP is a Chinese party. When it comes to providing positions, DAP will ensure the Chinese leaders are taken care before the Indians. Another problem is the Indian MPs in DAP are mostly junior or just joined the party recently. As such they have no grassroot support so they have no backup in their quest for a key positions.
You see in the case of Ipoh, the reason is nothing to do with Kula being an MP. It is more to do with Ngee and his clan wanting more influence. In Perak DAP is called as NAP (Ngee And Partners). Many of his cronies and relatives are clamouring for positions and contracts. Though PAS hold the MB position, the real King is Ngee. He would get his supporters in key positions.
The situation in Penang is worse for Indians. Prof Ramasamy is not even from Penang. Remember he is just DCM2 and the PKR guy is DCM1. I wonder why DAP has to create such differentiation so such we are still at No 3 in the position of power.
Prof Rama has been undermined by DAP Indians. They are unhappy that he has jumped over them in getting the DCM post. And on the otherhand, he gets no respect from DAP Chinese senior leaders who failed to get an exco posts. In fact although he is the DCM2, in actual fact he has less power than some of the Chinese DAP folks in the exco. And to make matters worse is the beaviour of PAS and PKR who are upset that they are not given sufficient representation in the exco and giving newcomers like Prof Ramasamy a hard time by not cooperating.
Prof Rama’s unwise statement has been exploited by the DAP indian members to further damage his reputation. Already even in Baru Kawan, the talk is that Prof Rama has changed….
I am no friend of Pakatan Rakyat but what irked me is the attitude of DAP. We know that they talk about Malaysian Malaysia and meritocrasy. But how come when it comes to promoting and appointing people for key positions again it is based on race, being Chinese No 1 and the Malays No 2 ?
i’ve no arguments in critizing any side (be it oppo or ruling) but what giggling is that these pro ruling jokers tend to criticize one side , that is the oppo alone . The whole nation knows what ruling coalition has done in the past that irked civilized society to strive for a change . The ruling party has been here for 50years !!! how long oppo has been ruling ??? 500years ??
