Obviously you can punish those who wear its emblems or symbols (quite hard to ban orange color clothing!). You can also arrest those known to be its leaders or spokesmen. Freeze the accounts of the key people. Shut down its websites. Probably stop gatherings, prayers, talks and functions held by the group. In the case of HINDRAF, it would mean that about 30 people will be arrested – including its various coordinators and Waytha’s wife.
What about “makkal sakthi”? Should the word be banned as well? Cars having “makkal sakthi” stickers stopped and driver fined? T-shirt wearers arrested?
This may force situation back to status quo – unhappy community that is unable to express itself. This unhappy will only burst again the next time, when another group of people rise to lead the community. So, ban HINDRAF. Later there will be HINDRAF 2. Ban that. After sometime, HINDRAF 3 and so on.
The Home Ministry may end up needing to build large depot to house everyone it arrests. I know many HINDRAF sympathizers (a gentler word compared to supporters or members) compared to anti-HINDRAF Indians. I guess the ratio is like 65-35 among my circle of contacts. Then, you have to consider those who symphatizers who are non-Indians. Would you arrest anyone who speaks in favor of HINDRAF? That would be a very long list indeed – PAS leader, opposition MPs, JIBA president, Samy Vellu, MHS president, Gerakan chief, bloggers, NGOs, Bar Council people, lawyers, wah…very long list.
Secretary-general Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusof said as Hindraf was not a registered organisation, the ministry’s legal unit would look at the technicality of disbanding the group.
He said Hindraf had on many occasions created unrest within the community, citing the recent gate-crashing of the prime minister and cabinet’s Hari Raya open house as an example.
Abdul Aziz said Hindraf’s insolence could not be tolerated as it had angered many, especially Muslims who felt Hindraf had marred the spirit of the Hari Raya.
He also said the police were looking into who were behind the incident. Speaking to the New Straits Times from Singapore, Abdul Aziz was also bemused at reports that Hindraf had lodged a police report against Home Minister Datuk Seri Syed Hamid Albar and Malay daily Utusan Malaysia, for allegedly hurting the feelings of Hindraf members in a news report. He said if the report had been made under Hindraf’s name, it would be ridiculous as the group was not even a formal entity.

I think you are over-exaggerating by saying the supporters will be arrested and so on lah….
Hmm…in that case, what’s the point of banning? Just like many other things banned, it will be superficial only. There must be fear, then only supporters and those who thinking of supporting will decide not to show their support. No?
I don’t think its over-exaggerating. Desperate times sees desparate measures. They may arrest a few hundred people, put in lock-up for a day and later release them. Scare tactics like this is enough already.
They will not arrest everybody…as Mr killer said that they will go for the ringleaders…I think there could be some in hindraf who are PRo-Govt…they just don’t use only arrest to deal with them…It’s more like carrot and stick..Trying to help them build a temple or something…releasing some ISD detainess..then arresting some…the former Hindraf members will give a statment that how wathymurty has failed to help the people..Lot more like soap opera….They know they can’t solve all the indian problems atleast immediately..they will try to focus on the problem on the top or tip of the iceberg..
Maybe they will monitor hindraf carefully,if they keep on going to open house acting in same way….what mr poobalan say might happend…It is still early days
Hindraf is a movement while MS is a spirit . It can be used in english,BM …etc . If any minister says ban MS ppl will laugh at him/her . (anyway ppl already laughing at them) How to ban a spirit ? If one screams ‘thalaivan valga’ …tht is called spirit . The spirit is generic to any party or movement . Only thing is that hindraf supporters adopted first. Even umno supporters can say ‘MS’ so it gonna ban itself…..?
As for banning hindraf…. it will give another excellent gem for PR ….. 🙂
it would be utmost stupidity to expect waytha to shoulder 50yrs of community weight and resolve everything . Messenger is a messenger . Jesus was a messenger and his belief spread across globe becos ppl accepted and supported the message . So are our 63 ‘Nayanmargal’ .

They will need to renovate Kamunting first la.. not enough for all the Hindraf supporters.. wakakaka.. I tell you.. if that was meant to frighten Hindraf supporters, then I can only laugh at its stupidity.
You know what, I say bring it on. Let them arrest. We will see how many people they can arrest, how many people they can stuff at Kamunting. This is so funny that I have to email my Australian colleagues about this. LOL.
Perak govt wants the kamunting camp to get out . So thy have to find alternate place . How about bodowi’s house?
Waytha is messenger of stupidity and brainless person… he is a person who practices double standards and cheats the poor indians and is person who is not serious enough to sincerely look at the root cause of the problem and resolve it. In short, he just barks !!!
