Devamany criticises Hishamuddin over Tamil schools land

Posted by poobalan at 12:35 am under Tamil-Schools | | View blog reactions

Looks like has the same opinion as me :) He subtly hits back at by saying that:

THE ruling Barisan Nasional Government should work proactively to allocate land for Tamil schools first, before asking Pakatan Rakyat state governments to allocate such land.

He said many Tamil schools were situated on private land and the Barisan Government should take over these schools and convert them into fully aided ones.

Earlier, was questioning non-action by Pakatan states on land allocation for vernacular and religious schools.

Hopefully he is not reprimanded again.

I dont know this Devamany much but I think he has a valid point though. Don’t worry about what those clowns of PR are doing, BN should get moving.

Devamany has been known to speak up, though not too often, whenever politicians undermine the Indian community through their deeds and words.

For his criticism of the BN he had been accused of breaking ranks and was reprimanded. What the BN especially UMNO doesn’t seem to understand is that if an Indian elected leader does not speak up for the community, he would be doing a great injustice to the community he represents.

Kerismuddin and his predecessors holding the Education Minister’s position has done little to uplift the physical and educational standards of Tamil schools in the country.

It has been the practice of the ministry to claim that the Tamil schools are either in estates (private land) or on land donated by the Christian Missionaries. As such they can only be partially aided.

By giving such excuses the ministry had absolved its responsiblities towards Tamil schools. If the BN government was proactive and impartial to all communities they could have allocated land or bought over the land from private owners to build proper full-aided schools.

If the BN had done its part we would not have a situation where Tamil schools operate from containers and dilapidated buildings. Most Tamil schools do not have proper facilities and also trained teachers.

The Ministry of Education is aware of the situation but their ketuanan mentality of marginalising other races by taking more than the lion’s share in everything (be it the economy, allocation of places in universities or scholarships) has led to this diplorable state of affairs.

Until and unless the BN is willing to change its mindset and treat every citizen as Malaysian irrespective of race and religion, there is no real hope for the other races in this beautiful country blessed with its natural resources.
