We only answered the first question.

The rest of the Question we invoked Section 112(2)- our fundamental  right to remain silent.

This action by the Royal Police Force of Malaysia is nothing but harassment and intimidation of our right as citizens of Malaysia. We as Malaysian citizens have a   right to go to Parliment. What is so wrong in going to Parliament to provide evidence of the lies by the Malaysian Home Minister. Malaysia is degenerating into the darkness of Political Autocracy. SHAME ON THE UMNO REGIME  THAT PREVENTS ITS CITIZENS TO GO TO PARLIAMENT. THE POLICE ARE USED AS UMNO’s TOOL TO SUPPRESS DEMOCRACY.

S.JAYATHAS

POLICE WATCH & HUMAN RIGHTS COMITTEE

The following is reported by NST:

Former coordinator of the outlawed Hindu Rights Action Force (Hindraf) R.S. Thananthiran was summoned by the police today over a commotion in Parliament on Oct 22.

Besides Thananthiran, Police Watch Malaysia member S. Jayathas was also seen entering the Sentul police headquarters at 10.15am. They left about two hours later.

Sentul police chief ACP Zakaria Pagan said later that police had recorded statements from the two individuals.

Thananthiran told reporters: “Both of us were asked some 20 questions on the handover of a memorandum on Oct 22 but we only anwered a few because it is our right not to answer. We are only ordinary citizens.

“Why were we called to give evidence when we only went to Parliament that day to hand over a memorandum? Nevertheless, we thank the police for their professional conduct today,” he said.
He also said members of Parliament for Kapar S. Manikavasagam and Teluk Intan Dr M. Manogaran had been summoned to give statements over the same incident tomorrow.

I feel Home Minister Datuk Seri Syed Hamid Albar should also be called to give evidence since there are over 40 police reports lodged against him nationwide over his inaccurate remarks about Hindraf,” Thananthiran said.

I just came back from a nearby house. There was a death in the house. its a new taman and we barely know people in our own row. But i knew the owner whose house had the tent set up. i thought it was some old person in the house who passed away. imagine my shock when i saw his body lying in the coffin! damn, i saw the guy barely 24 hours ago! i remember he had young kids. the guy who was standing next to me said the deceased had 3 kids. the two young ones were aged about 2 to 4 years old. they were still unaware that their appa is no more. His wife, a foreign looking lady, whom i’ve never talked to before.

my neighbor died of heart attack. age 37. 3 young kids. a wife who seems to be foreigner. just moved into new house.

i can’t imagine what will happen to the family.

This is indeed a good news! Now, there’s 70 less reasons for government to deny funds to the Tamil schools.

DEPUTY Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister Senator A. Kohilan Pillay said most estate managements nationwide have agreed to transfer land titles for Tamil schools to the government, reported Malaysia Nanban.

Previously, the Government had refused to give aid to most Tamil schools because they were located on private land.

The Selangor Gerakan chief said of the 289 Tamil schools partly aided by the government, landowners of 70 schools had agreed to transfer their land so that the Government can extend financial aid for the maintenance and operating expenses of these schools.

Only surprising thing is that Gerakan fellow make the announcement. Well, who cares about the messenger as long as its good news 🙂

Perak EXCO doesn’t know MIDA!

I nearly fell of my chair when I read the following:

State Industry Development and Information Committee chairman Tai Sing Ng (PKR-Kuala Sepetang) bore the brunt of it when he was ticked off by Datuk Ramly Zahari (BN-Manong) for not knowing what was Mida (Malaysian Industrial Development Authority) as it was under Tai’s portfolio.

Ramly asked a supplementary question on whether all foreign direct investments (FDI) into Perak was approved by Mida.

Seeing Tai’s puzzled look, Ramly asked Tai whether he knew what Mida was.

When Tai said he did not know, Ramly said: “Don’t know? Sorry.”

How in the world can an EXCO don’t know what is MIDA? Students learn in school itself. Worse still, this guy is the EXCO in charge of Industry Development in Perak. Like this means can close shop soon!

I label this under Crime!

719 students scored 7As this year. This is a big jump from previous year where either 573 or 571 students got 7As.

This is the first time students who took Science and Math in English since Standard 1 took the exam.

Some statistics as mentioned in the Star:

Between 31% to 46% of pupils who sat for the Ujian Pencapaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR) this year answered the questions set for the Science and Mathematics paper entirely in English.

Education director-general Datuk Alimuddin Mohd Dom said a total of 159,234 pupils answered the Science paper completely in English. For Mathematics it was 238,153.

This is a significant increase compared to last year’s figure of 1,324 for Science and 1,075 for Mathematics.

“The 518,616 pupils who sat for the UPSR this year are the first group to have started studying the two subjects in English since the policy was introduced in 2003,” he told a press conference Thursday after giving an analysis of the UPSR 2008 results at the ministry.

Meanwhile, Alimuddin said the ministry had compared this year”s UPSR results with the last five years to compare pupils’ performance.

“The pupils’ UPSR results were better this year compared to the average measured over the last five years,” he said.

He said 9.2% (46,641) scored all As this year compared with an average of 7.8% over the last five years.

The number of pupils who achieved grades A, B and C in all subjects was 62.7% this year compared to the 60.5% average over five years.

Usually they compare year by year, but this is the first time comparing with average of five years results.
