to boycott or not, what say you

we can see both sides arguments:

Boycott
– retaliation against the temple committee for backstabbing the community on 25 November by calling the police
– Boycott batu caves does not mean boycott Thaipusam or Lord Muruga
– Going to Batu Caves will be misused by MIC as sign of support for Samy Vellu and MIC
– as a support for Hindraf ISA detainees
– show support to other temples who may be in danger of demolition

No to Boycott
– don’t politicise religion
– don’t show anger against Batu Caves or Thaipusam
– it is disrespect/sin against religion (not sure how true this is)
– use other methods to show displeasure towards temple committee/Samy vellu/MIC
– even Hindraf leaders did prayer at Batu Caves after 25/11
– go there, but don’t spend money as a show of support

Well, there can be other reasons for both parties, so let’s make it short:

  2. mari says:

we should show our support to hindraf by wearing certain colour on thaipusam at Batu Caves.

  3. Killer says:

    Guys,

Please grow up. Whether you are for MIC, HINDRAF, UMNO, DAP or even Al-Qaeda, please be united as Indians. Don’t politicise temples, leave politics out of religion. Attending the Thaipusam would not make you a MIC supporter.

If you intend to boycott the festival, we will only shoot ourselves in the foot… This idiots from HINDRAF are the one who is using and abusing religion to play politics.

  4. Mauriya says:

Those who have not taken any vows to go to Batu Caves SHOULD BOYCOT GOING THERE for this Thaipusam. Then Samy Velu and his henchman, Nadaraja, would not be able to boast of millions supporting them. They have been using the number of people turning up at Batu Caves as continued support for them. These two fail to realize that people go the Batu Caves TO FULFIL THEIR RELIGIOUS OBLIGATIONS.

  5. srisurya says:

Try to understand. Those guys detained in ISA is the one fighting for our rights. Maybe we can show our support to them by wearing certain colour. This wil go as a warning to samy vellu .

  6. ramesh says:

MP: latest news – Thaipusam is public holiday in KL and Putrajaya.

    i boycot .
Batu caves will sill be there,so y not go next year.
There are many temple to go,choise is yours.i’m not saying don’t go to Batu cave.I hope u all out there will support. We must show to world that indians is suffering, and show to BN we stand united and strong for our rights
I hope u all wont forget out bro in ISA,there is little bit changes in GOV now,and i heard BN going to anounce PH for malaysia for Thaipusam.

    We need more changes.

  7. Umanan says:

Let’s not politicize this. If you’ve been going for Thaipusam to Batu Caves every year, then let’s make sure you do it this year as well.
This shd not be anything to do with MIC or any individuals…offering prayers to Lord Muruga on the day is the key thing…

  8. Murali says:

Bros & Sis… Please keep politics away from religion. We can show our dissatisfaction to Batu Caves temple committee in some other manner, like wearing same colour clothings, except yellow, or some other better way.
Please do not belittle our own people, let it be whatever the reason is. We need to stand unitedly at this point in time.

    Vaalga Indian!!!

    Rgds,
    Murali

  9. gnathenn says:

Please for heaven sake, show to the world that we the Malaysian Indians are
united by boycotting from celebrating thaipusam in Batu cave. GOD is every where so Lord Muruga is every where too and Lord Murugans temple is every where in Malaysia, sure he can accept your VANDUTHAL & KANIKAI if you realise what had happen to our brothers and sisters in the morning of 25 /11 07 in the locked compound of Batu cave.

So please boycot Batu cave just this one year and see the reaction.

Vanakom My Respective Indian brothers and Sisters,

I have gone thru all the comments above here at this website about boycotts going to Batu Caves and with hearth fully im very much agree with “”Mr. gnathenn”” What he was said in his comments was very true, you can anytime go to any Lord Muragans OR any Hindu Temples to fulfill ur VANDUTHAL & KANIKAI on Thaipusam day , its not really a compulsory that you have to get it done at Batu Caves! Any Hindu Temple will do……

Not to forget “” LORD MURUGANS Manifestation / Present are in every breath you inhale and exhales”’ “OM SARAVANA BAVAHA”

    Hi makkalz

Thaipusam,we celebrate once in year and show our devotes to lord muruga and reflex our religion and cultural to other religion as well.

I got an idea! Why not we have a printed the word of (HINDRAF) in our back of t-shirt to show that we’re strongly behind Hindraf not the stupid Mic.

It’s would be shame for Mic follower whenever they see Hindraf follower more than Mic in Batu Caves.

    My humble idea!

  12. Madhavan says:

    add 1 more to boycott

so that lord muruga will recognize our suffering on 25-nov there in batu caves and provide a better future for us.

  13. bal says:

not sure if thaipusam should be celebrated in the first place. We can use all the money used there ( milk, coconut ect…) for a better purpose.

  14. MrHollyMan says:

Dear Indian Angels & My Respective Brothers, Sisters.

    To Boycott means – No police permit needed, No one can accuse us of going against the law etc ;

A very Powerfull method to show our protest.

Lord MURUGAN will understand if you don’t go and see him in Batu Cave on this Thaipusam.

He is in your heart and instead he will happy to see you fighting against ATHARMA.

Don’t let the Brotherhood and Unity upheld by Hindraf go to waste.

We don’t know how effective e-mails and sms could achieve this objective.

But We need to try and try and NEVER GIVE UP.

Don’t allow blood sucker leaders suck our Communities blood.

    Enough is ENOUGH.
