If the many prospective applicants from other races see no prospect in the civil service, I suppose the number of applications will be less. Further more, the number of Malay applicants are high since it is promoted by the family members, government institutions, etc. They see as just an extension of their family, a big organisation that consists of their kind. Plus, their population is higher as compared to others.
Secondly, the party that claims to be “sole champions of the indian community” has let this rot to take place and now when the damage is done, are being whacked left and right.
This is not an overnight problem but effect of long term strategies. Other races find it difficult to enter local universities and get a diploma/degree with will be approved by JPA. These students opt for private education, which means many are not qualified to enter public service.
For jobs requiring SPM or lower qualifications, intake can be done at ministry or departmental levels, where it is not easy to be not-biased.
Its kind of a vicious cycle, less go into local public universities/colleges, less can apply. those few who apply, may not fit the bill or application put aside. as time goes, the whole machinery is filled with only one race, and the other are further demotivated to apply.
KUALA LUMPUR: The perception of having too many Malays in the government sector has reached the eyes and ears of parliamentarians.
“We are aware that people on the ground may think that there is racial discrimination when it comes to employment in the civil service.
“But the Public Service Department (PSD) has given its assurance that there is no such thing,” said the Parliamentary Select Committee on Integrity chairman Datuk Dr Wan Hashim Wan Teh yesterday.
He said he was told by the PSD that the largest ethnic group they had to turn away each year was the Malays.
“Still, they have to portray that multi-ethnic image reflecting the make-up of the country.
“We have given our recommendations for proactive steps to take in more non-Malays.
“We want to see more non-Malays and we want them to be working at the front lines of the civil service,” he said.
The prospect of getting employed in the public sector AND even in privatised ex-government entities is slim or non-existent to non-Malays.
We would have more balanced representation of the various races if at least the government had followed employment opportunities according to racial compostion.
The Malay agenda of the government has even crept into the sporting activities in the country. Non-Malay atheletes, hockey and football players as well as in other activities are not selected not only at national and international levels but even in schools, they are discriminated. Merit has no place in the selection process.
Drop the Malay agenda, the Ketuanan Melayu and stop the presecution of other religions to promote Malaysia as ‘truly Asia” and give every citizen an even chance irrespective of race, religion or creed.
It is sad to hear that Major portion to turn away were malays, but unfortunately nost vacancies are filled up by the existing staffs anank anak. Just to give you one example la you go to JPJ, Immigration, Pejabat POS,Income Tax and other government sectors lah if you can see non malays you are considered very very very lucky. I cameto know about MIC’s AIMS institute that the selection committe is headed by a malay and indians have to follow the quota system and if you can tarik tali maybe you can go in la.
you know when you submit applican on line for JPA there is a message says you applications is valid for one year and you will be notified if you are lucky.
so you know how effective the government’s delivery system. All you know somepeople from kelantan. Kedah or trengganu would have got the job and you just hang your tounue and wait untill your air liuh dry.
Another story ah people in Acheh already got their house built by malaysian government but those kena tsunami in malaysia haven’t got their houses ad somemore have to pay pity malaysians not acheh. I wonder what happened to the millions collected? sudah bye bye ke
