The man who said he can take on an army, may get his wish soon. SV is going to have his hands full tackling the indian voters. Maybe not in Sg Siput, but in other areas where his BN compatriots have problem convincing them that BN actually cares for them. His singing and rhetorics may still hold sway over the old folks, but the younger IT/SMS savvy group may reply with their own brand of rhetorics Vadivelu or Vivek style! Looking at the news going around on police brutality in KL on the 16th, not only Penang and Perak seats are in problem, even those in Selangor and Malacca may have some difficulties. There are quite a significant seats which have Indian voters as potential kingmakers, so some of the BN candidates may fall, even if MIC candidates all come through.

BUTTERWORTH, Feb 16 (Bernama) — A group of about 60 people, who are believed to be Hindraf supporters, obstructed MIC president Datuk Seri S.Samy Vellu’s car from leaving the compound of a school where he had earlier attended a function tonight.
In the incident at about 9pm, the car was trapped for about 15 minutes within the compound of the SJK(C) Chung Hwa 3 at Taman Kepar, here after it was swarmed by the group who refused to let the car leave the area.
The group, who had gathered at the school compound since 8pm, angrily knocked on the glass window of the Mercedes Benz carrying the Works Minister and asked him to alight from the car to meet them.
It is learnt that the group had come to meet Samy Vellu to ask for his assistance in seeking for the release of several of Hindraf’s supporters who were detained for being involved in an unlawful assembly in the federal capital this morning.
Police had to step in to disperse the crowd and make way for Samy Vellu’s car and two other vehicles escorting the minister’s car to leave the area and prevent any untoward incident.
One of the group members, J.Balamurugan, 31, when met after the incident, said they had come to the school to seek clarification on the detention of several children at the gathering in the federal capital, whom he claimed were being detained at a welfare home in Kepong.
He said he and several of his friends were in Kuala Lumpur during the incident this morning and wanted the children to be released.

Mob jeers Samy Vellu, blocks his car
BUTTERWORTH: MIC president Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu went through a harrowing experience last night when some 100 people blocked his car and demanded the release of Hindu Rights Action Force (Hindraf) protesters detained at an illegal rally in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.
The crowd surrounded and banged his car as he was leaving SRJK (C) Chung Hwa 3 in Prai here after attending a function at 9pm.
The works minister was earlier escorted to the car after a mob started to jeer him. But the group, including some women, blocked the car, and did not allow it to leave the school compound. The crowd demanded that Samy Vellu alight from the car and talk to them but the minister refused, leading to a 10-minute stand-off. amy Vellu later wound down his car window and asked the people what they wanted.
The group demanded his help to secure the release of the demonstrators detained in Kuala Lumpur in the morning. “But they are criminals,” Samy Vellu was heard saying. This infuriated the group who refused to budge.
Samy Vellu finally relented and promised to call the inspector-general of police today. By then, policemen managed to clear the way for Samy Vellu’s car to leave.

No sense of responsibility
M Mayilsamy was in the group of people who blocked Samy Vellu’s car last night. He said that the group was angry with the police action which sprayed water and fired teargas at Hindraf supporters in Kuala Lumpur yesterday morning.
samy vellu and mic”They were innocent people who had gathered to give roses to the prime minister. Not a single MIC leader spoke out against the police action. We wanted to ask Samy Vellu on why he was not in support for calls for reform for the community
“But he choose to remain silent in the car, and at one stage called the Hindraf supporters who were arrested by the police as criminals,” added Mayilsamy.
“That got us angry. Criminals? These were normal folks who went to hand in roses to the PM. They weren’t armed. How can Samy just label them as such. He has not sense of responsibility for the community,” he charged.
Several MIC leaders contacted by Malaysiakini today refused to publicly comment on the police action on the Hindraf gathering. And they were afraid to comment on the mounting criticism against the party boss.
