Looks like PAS is doing something extra for the Indian community in Kelantan. Everything starts well, let’s hope it goes on well. No news of cronyism, bribery, leaking roof, etc. will be great!

KOTA BARU: The state government plans to extend its homestay programme to the Indian community, especially those working in estates, to enable them to earn additional income.
State Economic Planning, Finance and Welfare Committee chairman Datuk Husam Musa said suitable areas had been identified for the purpose. “We will provide them with the houses and they can rent out parts of the units to visitors and tourists. “Apart from getting another source of income, the villagers can also help promote their areas (to tourists),” he said after launching a homestay project at Pantai Mek Mas yesterday.

Husam, who is Pas assemblyman for Salor, said the proposed project for the Indian community was expected to start soon.
Under the Pantai Mek Mas homestay project, which is handled by a local-based company, three wooden houses have been built at a cost of RM38,000 each.  The villagers who operate them will get to keep half of whatever the tourists pay to stay at the houses.

Villager Hussin Senik said he was happy to have been selected for the project.  “I will decorate the house so that I can attract tourists. I hope I can get more people as my house is facing the river,” added the father of five. Hussin used to be a fisherman but his income was not enough to support his family.
