I think it can’t get anymore clearer than this. Everywhere else, its the protesters who are bashed up, arrested, chased after and shot with tear gas/water cannon. I thought the same rule applies for all. But we have seen that people like Khairy get special treatment.
Today, the police asked the forum to end early instead of getting rid of the protestors. Now, I’m not telling the police to treat the protesters like how they treated the HINDRAF rally attendees. Let people protest, but in an orderly manner. If anyone turns phyiscal, arrest them. But it is very embarassing to read that police asked the forum to end early! Worse still, only yesterday this guys made a joke that they will “not hesitate to take action if anyone gathered at or near the Bar Council because of its forum on conversion to Islam”.
Dang Wangi OCPD Asst Comm Zulkarnain Abdul Rahman said police would be on full alert and advised people not to hold gatherings there. He said this was meant for those who were against the forum and those who supported it. But look what happened today. These people can afford to put bored-looking policemen to relax at roadblocks but can’t control a measly crowd of 300.
Both Malaysiakini and Star have the story.
Among the 300 protestors are members of Muslim welfare organsation Perkida and Islamic party PAS, who shouted, “Hancur Bar Council” (Crush Bar Council), “Hidup Islam” (Long Live Islam) and “Batal forum” (Cancel the forum). They carried placards saying “Jangan cabar Islam” (Don’t challenge Islam) and “Bar Council, Don’t play with fire”.
Among the protest leaders seen in the crowd are PAS Youth chief Salahuddin Ayub. The protesters, many of whom came just before the forum began, later decided to sit down in front of the Bar Council building and vowed that they would not budge until the event had been cancelled. Some threatened to storm the building to physically stop the forum.
Due to the advice from police, the program ended at 10am, about one hour after it started.
A leader of the protesters – PKR Kulim-Bandar Baharu parliamentarian Zulkifli Noordin – declared the abrupt end of the forum as a victory
for them. By 10.40am, most of the protesters have dispersed.
Most embarassing is PKR and PAS are in it. What is DAP’s stand on this? And do you realise that MIC, MCA, Gerakan and PPP cowards don’t even dare to open their mouths. COWARDS. COWARDS. COWARDS. Definition for political parties in Malaysia. All these people know that they can’t say a thing or they will be roasted. They will come up with the usual “we will talk about this in our own way” crap. But 51 years also no solution, what more can you talk about? You can’t be that stupid or have low IQ, can you? There’s no political will to solve this inter-religious contentions. That’s the problem.
Now imagine if we, the makkal, protest against the criminal, seditious teacher in Teluk Panglima Garang. You think the police will be so kind? They’ll chase the people away, not close down the school. I dread to think of the day when church sermons or temple prayers are asked to be stopped because some people protest at the noise, smell, or traffic jam.
No wonder more and more Malaysians are considering migrating. Recently two of my friends expressed their intentions.
And what does our Hindraf friends think about this? Their PKR / PAS friends were there.
UPDATES FROM MKINI
“”Shouts of “babi”, “pengkhianat” and “balik China” were heard as forum participants trickled out of the venue. “”
I think Waytha will send his press statement from London condemning the protest. What do you think?
Im sure brother waytha is preparing his lyrical ammo now. When he will come back and inject the motivation back to Indians ? 🙁 🙁
hmm…and join his brother in kamunting?
Yeaps. At least there will be another uprising.
The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants. – Thomas Jefferson.
Novin , how about mic members come out of their comfort zone and land hand to refresh the tree of liberty ? Oh wait ….is tht becos there are no patriots and tyrants in mic but only corrupts and group ‘amam samy’ ?
Easier said then done my friend 🙂

PRESS STATEMENT
NATIONAL MIC YOUTH COORDINATOR
T.MOHAN
THE MIC YOUTH STRONGLY CONDEMNS THE TACTICS OF IRRESPONSIBLE GROUPS IN DISRUPTING THE BAR COUNCIL FORUM ON CONVERSION TO ISLAM IN KUALA LUMPUR TODAY.
THEIR ACTIONS IS A STEP BACKWARD TOWARDS THE UNITY AND RELIGIOUS HARMONY AMONGST THE VARIOUS RACES IN MALAYSIA ENVISIONED UNDER VISION 2020.
WE ARE DISAPPOINTED WITH THE GROUPS FOR FAILING TO ALLOW THE DISCUSSION OF THE ISSUES OF INTER-FAITH IN A MATURE AND RESPONSIBLE MANNER.
THE BAR COUNCIL HAS REITERATED THAT THE FORUM ON RELIGIOUS CONVERSION WAS NOT TO QUESTION THE PROVISIONS OF ARTICLE 121 (A)
OF THE CONSTITUTION BUT TO ADDRESS THE CONFLICTS OF LAWS FACING FAMILIES CAUGHT BETWEEN THE SEPARATE JURISDICTIONS OF CIVIL AND SYARIAH LAWS.
THE MIC YOUTH REALISE THE NECESSITY OF THE ABOVE FORUM AS IT WILL CLARIFY CONFUSION OF THE CONCERNED GROUP AND WILL BE A BASE FOR GUIDELINE FOR THOSE WHO ARE LOOKING TO CONVERT TO THEIR ORIGINAL RELIGION DUE TO THEIR PERSONAL JUDGEMENT.
WE BELIEVE OPEN DISCUSSIONS AND DIALOGUES ON THE PROBLEMS ARISING OUT OF THE SYARIAH AND CIVIL COURTS SEPARATE JURISDICTIONS AND OTHER ISSUES TO RELIGIOUS CONVERSIONS ARE IMPERATIVE TO FIND SOLUTIONS.
THERE ARE SO MANY CASES WHERE INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES WERE AFFECTED BECAUSE OF THE CONVERSION IN AND OUT OF ISLAM. MANY WHO HAD CONVERTED WERE ALSO IN A DILEMMA AS THEY WERE UNABLE TO REVERT TO THEIR FORMER RELIGION.
WE STRONGLY BELIEVE THESE GROUPS SHOULD HAVE USED THE FORUM TO COME AND GIVE THEIR VIEWS INSTEAD OF ACTING HIGH-HANDEDLY AND FORCING THE CANCELLATION OF THE FORUM.
WE ARE DISAPPOINTED THAT THE POLICE HAD ALSO FAILED TO TAKE ACTION AGAINST THESE GROUPS FOR STAGING DEMONSTRATIONS AND HAD INSTEAD ASKED BAR COUNCIL TO CANCEL THE FORUM.
THE MIC YOUTH IS ALSO CONCERNED WITH THE STATEMENTS MADE BY CERTAIN LEADERS WHO HAD STRONGLY OPPOSED THE FORUM AS IT HAS CAUSED RESENTMENT AMONGST THE NON MUSLIMS
THEY SEEM TO HAVE IGNORED THE FACT THAT THE BAR COUNCIL HAS ALREADY CLARIFIED THAT THE FORUM WAS TO ADDRESS THE CONFLICTS OF LAW.
THEY SHOULD HAVE COME OUT WITH THEIR PROPOSALS IN ADDRESSING THE ISSUE OF NON-MUSLIM HUSBANDS WHO ABANDON THEIR SPOUSES AND THEIR FAMILIES AND CONVERT INTO ISLAM RATHER THAN TO STOP A LEGITIMATE FORUM.
THE MIC YOUTH ALSO CALL ON HINDRAF TO PUBLICLY STATE THEIR STAND AS THE GROUP WHO OPPOSED THE FORUM WAS LED BY A PARTI KEADILAI RAKYAT MP. IS THIS WHAT HINDRAF GETS FOR SUPPORTING PKR IN THE GENERAL ELECTION?
thanks punithan, i was about to write about this statement by MIC Youth’s Mohan.
I salute your brave comments on police double standard regarding demos.
The police supposed to warn the protestors to disperse or else fire water cannons.
The bar council forum was held inside a hall so what the hell the police need to stop the forum.

it’s not about me being brave. even old people who see the news are asking this question. People are not stupid. If those guys want to give a reason, please think of something more logical or just admit your mistake. can clearly see the incompetence (?) or discrimination.
this is an expected “Knee-jerk reaction”,Two speaker’s former Sharia court judge and assosiate professor on Islamic law pulled out of this forum, making it largely a non-muslim event. If more muslim speakers like PAS,PKR,islamic mufti’s who might be sympathic to this cause, had been included, it will look more acceptable. The organiser’s must have expected this protest,Their objective for this forum whether to gain publicity or find solutions clearly need to be questioned?.If u need to find a solution, then islamic experts in sharia law have to be included.
We are seeing more of such protests, more of candal light vigils, more of such forums, more of passionate speeches in temples…but our community is still not making any headway. If this keep’s up,people will lose confidence in them.
We are changing into a radical Muslim country… accept the fact and move on.. Like they the bumis have always reminded us, we are the immigrants in this country.. might as well pool enough resources and emmigrate elsewhere.. there’s enough proof that Indians can survive in a global competitive arena… we should start feeling proud about being Indians, being ourselves and make worth of it..
Instead of sitting and paying tax in a cuntry that has forgotten how to appreciate it’s fellow countrymen.. I’m willing to bet by 2020 we gonna be exactly what Zimbabwe is today.. any takers?
I agree to some extent that the radical elements are present. In comparsion, with some middle-east country’s we are still better off.I doubt we will ever be like Zimbabwe, one primary reason is “money”.After,9/11 the arab’s in the middle-east,are bit edgy about investing their oil-rich money into western and american nations. They fear that
their money would be frozen.Though they have invested in certain part’s of it in emerging economies like India and china.A large chunk of it,are being channeled constantly to Malaysia via Islamic Banking. We are not talking about billions, but trillions. It has become hub for islamic banking.Second,Malaysia and Indonesia are stragedic ally in “america’s war in terror”,so they need their assistance in quelling this elements.Last, but not least they are also visionary’s like “anwar”who are striving for a more equalitarian society.
sometime reading all this make me depressed.I wish,I was brave like the hindraf guys to be articulate,But I am really a coward, sometime I think of commiting sucide to end it all.I was on medication for long time and had to go for theraphy.
I told myself, that I have to think postive of the future.I am going to concentrate on my studies. My elder brother,he is not that educated,he has found job as a security officer,in a Japanese MNC in singapore.By conversion to malaysian ringgat,it sum’s up to around 6,200 rinngat per month.I also understand there are many of our people working, living and studying in singapore. From secuirty guards,Bus-drivers,electrians,IT professional,Teachers,Chief Executive officers. After, working for 4 years,My brother had obtain Permanet Residence status in singapore.I think they look at,how much you earn per month and employers testimonial for that.My goal is to go and work in singapore…hopefully one day
guys , yes set your goal right and right now and go for it . There’re heroes working to correct sensitif and depressing political issues . Lay ppl can do one thing to help out …… via ballot box . Just be sure to do that . The silent majority done that on March8 . Time will come again .
Fair point there fellow coconut…
But how does this large economic pie translates into properity for the real Malaysians?.. The same Malaysians that contributed every single effort in making M’sia to where she is today is not appreciated let alone ackowledged.. I’m sure we aren’t really concerned with concession in housing, loans, etc. but to be marginalised from education, job prospects, humiliated openly and insulted being a certain race in this country seems to be boyond me..
In terms of middle east channeling their money, what happens when Dubai becomes the financial hub for islamic banking it strives to be? It is successfully emulating what we once-upon-a-time visioned. Once this channeled funds from the middle-east flow via Dubai, we’ll be dropped like a sack of potatoes. We aren’t a developed country like the G8, nor are a we labour-centric nation like China nor India. We keep flip-floping our policies, our parliment and judiciary system is more entertaining than the Royal London Circus (which is from Ipoh, btw), and we have a government that is reactive and defensive, rather than being proactive and sensitive.
No, I agree we will not be in a dire state like Zims (at least I hope not), but we aren’t really moving forward. The faster we slip back, it’s the Malaysian Indians which would be caught out. I suppose the better apples in the society should start thinking ahead and emmigrate to greener pastures. It is a hard decision to leave, but it is even a harder decision to stay.
On Anwar, just another political rhetorics there Coconut. That man is at the verge of selling his soul if need be to become the next prime minister of M’sia and get his revenge on the Mahathir et al. The select few that I would consider to run this country justly and rightfully is the Crown Prince of Perak, Raja Nazrin.. He has shown over the years to be just and fair to all Malaysians alike.. If need be, I would say bring back the monarchs and do away with this rubbish “prostituted” democracy we have..
Lastly, one can talk till the cows come home, unless the cows move to another home..
I can see from your perspective view-point and do agree on some of your views.Sadly,it does not really benefit the entire community’s of malaysians. As for Islamic Banking transfering via Dubai, there is remote possiblity. The middle-east arab’s would not put all their eggs in one basket,as dubai is very close to conflict-prone region, traditionally they have invested in west and american coportations.Even, the Royal Family of Dubai have heavy stake’s in the Islamic Banking in malaysia. The idea is to have a alternative avenue of investment wing.yes,it does not translate nothing for ordinary malaysians or in this case indians,The pie’s is largely a muslim affair.(maybe we will be given scraps)As,on your view-point the nation is not a labour intenstive like china or india,I am going to rule out possiblity. Our next neigbour,is indonesia and of the same ethinicty as the malay’s,I wonder what will happend if they started issusing citizenship’s to them in droves and resettling them in special economic zone’s and concentraing on specific types of industries.of course,it mean’s the demographic’s will change dramatically, sadly we,indians will become more insignifianct.
I do agree “anwar” might not really be our saviour, once he come’s in power,he might change his tune.As for the crown prince of perak, frankly I have never heard of him,if he is someone who can uplift our community..I say vote him in….
Sadly,I do agree,it look’s like migration is the best way forward to uplift our community.
MP: Thank you for the suggestion sir, but I have no intention to be like Malaysiakini (media). This blog is for me to express my opinions on the issues mainly related to Indian community. Readers then can leave their comments. My wish is that more members from the community will share their views as well. Let us all learn from each other. I also hope more will start a blog or websites – improve their writing skills, explore the world of Internet, and take pride in their country.
I hope mr poobalan upgrade this blog into a website something like malaysiakini . The discussions are very interesting and by creating a newsaper like website it would reach a large section of the indians.malaysiakini is more general so your site could be more toward indians cause.- ks manohar Chairman Headmaster’c council kuala selangor.Tel: o1223 67899 e-mail: ksmano@hotmail.com
another shameful act of the police force . If the protesters happen to be Indians than it’s totally a differently story . Now the ISA is so silent but Hamid Albar threatened bar Council that it may consider ISA for bringing up sensitive issues .
I can tell one thing …… it’s utmost shame for anyone for a matured religion like Hinduism , Buddism….etc to convert . For those dungu who intend to convert or already converted…….. i dun know wht nasty word to use …… with due respect to a open blog i calm myself…..
MP: Edited.
Hey boss…. To be fair, religion is a personal thing.. Like in the Quran it says “Mine onto mine, yours onto yours”… The problem we have in this so-called harmonised and multiracial country is that some religious kepala udang decided to make its own fatwa and make it impossible to be apostates (or convert out of Islam).. and then, to top that off, it gained a following from a larger crowd of kepala sotongs to support the idea with the hope of 72 virgins in heavens.. Ever wondered why is it possible to convert out of Islam in countries like S’pore and Indonesia when the majority follow the same Sunni sect we have in M’sia?.. I’m amused that the Syariah beats itself to death before letting a Malaysian Muslim convert out, but doesn’t whimper a sound when 66% of rapist in this country are Muslim-Malays… Do they have fun reading the news of incestual rape by their own peers?Islam is beautiful by its own right, same as other religions and thoughts, but the kepala kambing mentality these Muslims have in Malaysia is only helping to paint the religion in bad light globally.. Hence, Killi, I’d say instead of punishing the man of his freewill to choose his religion, punish the kepala udangs and kepala kambings that is spoilling the plot for the rest of us humans.
