MALAYSIA Nanban has urged Indian parents to send their children to Tamil schools to ensure the existence and continued use of the language.

It welcomed the call by National Land Finance Cooperative Society executive director and trustee Tan Sri K.R. Somasundram who said that in 50 years, the Tamil language would disappear if parents do not support Tamil schools by sending their children there for their education.

The daily said that the Government had done its best by providing the facilities “for the language to prosper”.

It said the language’s popularity depended on its usage by the community.

“Indian parents must discard the negative attitude that students in Tamil schools cannot progress in their education,” according to the daily.

“Our present education policy encourages the brilliant student to excel in his studies and achieve world fame without any hindrance,” it said.
