Got this via email from Egam. Photos of Arulmigu Siva Subramaniar Temple in Kota Bharu Temple. What caught my eye was the building shape which does not look like a temple at all. It is a two-storey building with a semi-circle end. Reminded me of a bungalow house which I used to pass by while studying at university.
Great looking temple! Very well maintained. Seems the opposition government, PAS, is supportive despite being a religious party!
I remember when I was 6 (1971),I went to this temple. But, then it was just like any other temples we see in Malaysia, with all the traditional tower and architecture. Now, looks as if the PAS led government had covered the original look of the temple, or was it removed to this location? Is it a taboo to have temples in Islamic country? If this simple thing they can’t tolerate, what is there to say about grandeur stuff in the universe? In India, there are thousands of mosques from north to the south, east to west, and all of them retains the standard architecture of mosque, just like elsewhere in the world. The Hindus never argue about the mosque being like this or like that, rather they go on living the normal lives.
well i stayed in kelantan for the past 7 years…. i have been to this temple before this new 1 was built…. the old one was just a hut with no walls… it used only zinc sheets as walls… now we should be happy that the new temple is much more better……. i feel that PAS builds more temples while BARISAN demolishes temples….
I stayed in kelantan for 25 years and i find there is nothing unusual about PAS, they don’t really disturb the non- malay. There are many siamiese temples in the villages. I don’t mind the shape of the sivan temple , as it far better than what it used to be just as mr arvinthan have said. It is not the building that matters, but the heart, god is everywhere even in our soul if we look deep enough.
Cheeran,
” If this simple thing they can’t tolerate, what is there to say about grandeur stuff in the universe? ”
” The Hindus never argue about the mosque being like this or like that, rather they go on living the normal lives. ”
Are you sure ?
Reminds me of the Babri Mosque Destruction in Ayodhya 1992 :

Also all those continuous religious riots in India that resulted many Muslims killed in the end. Like this one in Gujarat 2002 :

Cheeran,
India is never a great example when it comes to religious harmony. Malaysia is still far better. At least you don’t have lawless mobs leveling religious structures here in Malaysia.
Besides, you got it wrong when it comes to this temple. It is a new one and it is better. There is another one in Tumpat and a smaller but abandoned one near the Clock Tower Roundabout in the town center. What Scorpstar, arvinthan and barathi said is indeed true regarding the state govt.
Right now,
they are burning down churches and killing Christians in Eastern India. Maybe that’s just how they ” tolerate ” Christmas.

Maybe that’s what Cheeran means by ” go on living the normal lives “.
Simply Amazing.
