Business rivalry not ruled out in murder
KUALA LUMPUR: Business rivalry may be behind the shooting of Johor MIC deputy chief Datuk S. Krishnasamy.
The Tenggaroh assemblyman was known to be involved in several businesses.
He had a construction company and is believed to have had a stake in several restaurants in Johor Baru.
One of his close business associates was a man with known underworld links. Sources said their relationship, which began before Krishnasamy entered politics, turned sour about two years ago when police closed in on the man's activities.
The businessman, from Kedah, was investigated for passport forgery, human trafficking and several other cases. He is said to have moved his operations from Kedah to Johor several years ago. Krishnasamy was said to have helped his associate obtain a tow-truck business licence in Johor Baru.
In October 2006, DAP MP S. Kulasegaran lodged a police report against Krishnasamy for manhandling him during the Maika Holdings annual general meeting.
The Tenggaroh assemblyman is the second MIC man to be shot dead. In 2000, Lunas assemblyman Dr Joe Fernandes was gunned down at a traffic light junction on his way home from one of his many clinics.
What has transpired does not come as a surprise. If you associate with scums and other forms of lowlife, you deserve what you get.
