Indians in Permatang Pauh

According to Samy’s mathematics, there are 3,125 Indian voters in the Permatang Pauh parliamentary, of which 2,000 are MIC members. How would they vote this time? Obviously with a voting population of about 47,000, 3,125 is quite small (6.6%). Previous election statistics showed that 67.7% voters are Malays, 26.3% Chinese and 5.7% are Indians.

Most likely the Malay votes will be split. The Chinese are unknowns. So, how about the Indians? Vote for BN to show unhappiness against PR government? Stick with PR in hope of better future? Or abstain from voting?

A vote for Anwar means an endorsement for the polices of the PR govts. So what we have got up to now ? In Penang we have an Indian DCM who claims he can’t help Indians much as he is the DCM. We have Indian ADUNs who seems to worry more for their business than taking care of the Indian grassroots’ problems. We also saw how a Tamil school was robbed of its land. No rightful representation for Indians in exco, councils or other key state bodies.

A “meritocratic” tender process is seeing DAP Chinese members getting all the govt contracts. The dominance of Chinese in business and in every aspects of life was bad enough under Gerakan but under DAP it feels like Singapore, HK or China. Slowly and surely Indians and malays being driven off Penang Island to the mainland and eventually to Kedah or even Perak. The discrimination in job opportunities is getting worse especially after the GE. Many of my ex-employees say now every where they apply in Penang, the knowledge of Mandarin is compulsory. Reason given is that the state govt is making Penang like Singapore so we must know Mandarin to be international. I think if Penang continues under DAP then our luck will be similar to the Malays in Penang and Singapore…totally marginalised and end up working as labourers or office boys. I think if this continues soon there will be no Indians will be hired into exec or managerial post in Penang.

My advice is either vote for BN to send a strong message to PR or don’t vote all all.

My personal feeling is that DSAI will either win with drastically reduced majority or lose narrowly.

Wow Killer, u r very interesting.
In one post, you state that you were a school teacher in a Tamil school.
Now you state that you are an employer, and your ex-employees are saying that they cannot get jobs unless they speak mandarin.
In the Hindraf item, u r very sure that only a handful of Indians will turn up.
I like ur style.

By the way, there is no justification for the upholders of the law to violate the law and follow the herd. In any civilized country, the police can not turn on their citizens or even tourists or criminals. They cannot beat them or abuse them.

Unfortunately when we r victims of a crime, we feel violated, and we become comfortable with the upholders of the law violating the law in the name of the law.

We have to change. Else we will go down a self-distructing spiral and end up a Zimbabwe, Burma, etc.

U did not mention ur new job function as u comment on the Hindraf issue. R u perhaps a journalist now? My regards to Azalina and her UMNO cyber-troppers.

Have a nice day!

BobSam

Thanks for being my fan.

I suggest you to read my previous postings to understand my background. Otherwise you might end up looking rather foolish.

I was a Tamil school teacher once for a while when I was just out of univ once, but that was many years ago. Now course I am working in a MNC in a snr management position. I have more than 70 employees working under me in 6 different countries (including in Penang & KL). But that doesnt mean I am an employer. Please check the English dictionary on what does that word really mean.

There is no chance of Malaysia going down Zimbabwe way since Malaysia has been growing rapidly after 1957 and we are about to the reach the developed country’s status in a few years time. Of course this is under BN rule and I would admit that under PR rule there is a posibility that we might follow Myanmar and Zimbabhwe. In fact 5 years of PR rule enough to destroy what we built in 50 years.

Anyway please send my regards to the fake Prof (ie Rama, DCM2) and his political master LGE.

ya correct ….. because of BN we’re seeing such partial development compared to successful neighbour country .

Brother

Don’t just look at the successful neighbours, there are far more poorer countries than Malaysia. In fact how many countries with such a delicate racial mix as Malaysia have even succeded from the clutches of povetry ? How many countries which became independent as the same time as us are as successful as Malaysia ? Singapore you say ? If you say so then you have swallowed the propaganda of DSAI or the PAP govt. It is like comparing Selangor with Kelantan, since Singapore was a city that was the most developed state in Malaya in 1965.

The trouble with Indians in this country is that on top of being an insignificant minority, they insist on stabbing each other in the back, well before they even get slapped around by the other major races.

Therefore, the sentiment that an Indian can never trust another Indian holds true all too often. It seems to be an inherent cultural trait originating from the separatist mentality in the motherland.

A divided race can never get ahead amidst the competition especially in an adoptive country!
