Penang Deputy Chief Minister Prof P Ramasamy told Makkal Sakti supporters at the forum that the DAP would exhaust all means and ways to secure the release of the Hindraf five soon. “The DAP will surely raise the issue in the Parliament at first instance,” he said.

The best Pakatan MPs can hope for is to raise enough publicity and dissatisfaction among the public to pressure PM to “relook into the necessity and implementation” of ISA. So, looks like Sivakumar may get the assembly speaker position, but there’s a small matter of contest since the opposition BN also proposing another candidate. Earlier, it was the other Siva – Sivasubramaniam who created a ruckus by quiting DAP when only one Indian was selected for EXCO position. It is easy to say “train local people”. But the task is not easy as said because the infrastructure is not in place and red tapes causes many headache to start such programmes formally. The Sikhs would have to fund such training programs on their own.

Secondly, the local trained priest need to paid more, but it would provide savings in terms of importing foreigners. A bit of investment is needed to reduce reliance on foreigners. Who would want to work for nothing less than RM2000 nowadays especially for a highly skilled job and in view of ever increasing cost of living?
