MIC president Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu today launched a stinging attack against a non-governmental organisation, the Hindu Rights Action Force (HINDRAF), which claimed that the Barisan Nasional (BN) government had done little to address the woes of the Malaysian Indian community over the last 50 years.
“I must state here that if there is anything that affects the Indian community, the MIC will be there to fight it out even when we are partners of the Barisan Nasional. To me, I have never remained idle and I don’t waste time,” Samy Vellu, who is also Works Minister, told Bernama today.
The MIC supremo was asked to comment on a 18-point memorandum by HINDRAF, which was handed to the Prime Minister’s office last Sunday by the organisation’s chairman P. Waytha Moorthy, secretary V.K Regu and its legal adviser P. Uthayakumar.
Apart from stating that the Indian community was marginalised by the BN government, in the memorandum, HINDRAF also wanted an end to special privileges given to Malays. The memorandum also took a dig at Umno asking the largest political party in the country to “stop playing politics” through the “mandore” (supervisor) system by dishing out aid to the Indian community on a piecemeal basis.

I think the main problem of indian in malaysia because their own politician especially samy vellu is fulling his own stomach where other indian living in poverty. Its not because of other races n religion. Even in sarawak i never heard about indian doing a protest. The letter you had attached earlier does indeed give us an insight of what is happening in India. But, we can never know a country till we live in it and be among the locals. There are many differences between our lives in Malaysia comparatively, and you cannot use that against us and tell us how proud we should be. We are entitled to certain rights when Independence was granted. But that was manipulated by certain people and our forefathers did not stand up for us and oppose the ruling. I’m guessing it’s only because we belong to the minorities.
The Indians in India choose to still practice the “caste” system, corruption which is heavily ingrained in their political bodies and live their lives according to it. Thus, the fight put up by HINDRAF and the socio-economics of India are 2 very different things.
Now, lets look at the “Bumiputra” benefits. To all the Malays out there, did you know that you are not the only bumiputras in Malaysia? Even the Portuguese are bumiputras. Has anybody checked if these people enjoy the discounts given by the government? No need to go far, I’ll tell you.

The term is false and it should be re-worded. So why is the term still being used? It is because the non Malays are tolerant and we accept the injustices done.
By saying that Tuah67, the Indians have just stood up. There are other races which are still being marginalized by our government. It is up to them to fight if they want to or continue accepting their fate. We cant keeping calling ourselves Malaysians when the government does not treat us fairly. I would say it is the government that led us to where HNDRAF has taken the Indians.
Oh and on another note, our ministers need PR skills. Very, very badly. All they speak and argue about is in Malay and some ministers refuse to acknowledge English as an important language. Today, they have just shown the world how capable they are. Oh yeah and I bet some of you have received the email on the difference in education levels between the Malaysian ministers and the ones in Singapore, I truly believe the email is a fact. Cos if our current ministers really worked their way to Harvard / Yale, they’d have more sense in them on how to address HINDRAF rather than looking at sending everyone behind bars. In their mindset, “If you sweep it under the rug, no one will see it”.

We agree wif InFullSupport over Tuan67 remarks. Although we are also malay and bumiputra but we did not get any priviledges from the govt. I understand that our govt only give special incentives and projects to their proxies or cronies using the rakyat’s money. Ever heard of poor melayu and poor bumiputra getting large govt contracts?? or poor indians and poor chinese getting help from govt?? i dun think so. That’s why our SMI/SME market is soooooo poor, people starting business in Malaysia on SME/SMI most of the time failed. Even Tony Fernandez from AirAsia always get “kacau” from the govt as our govt give better incentive to MAS for Airport space and license and landing permits and so forth. Tuan67, do you get any large contracts from our govt?? If not, the only reason you are not getting jobs from govt is because you are not a proxy or crony of UMNO. Ever heard of our govt helping SMI/SME market?? I dun think so…only proxies and cronies gets the contracts. Our govt dun even provide tenders for the SMI/SME businessmen to get the govt contracts. The best part is …our govt officials says, if you want contracts you must pay undertable or football money then only the govt will give you contract, rite Tuan67?? Anyway our govt is paying the cronies/proxies for contract given out with the rakyat’s money and the bulk of the payout is from the rakyat’s money which is tax contributed by SMI/SME businessmen. So Tuan67, do you still think it is fair from the govt?? Singapore got no natural resources, and is at the size of Penang with only 5 million people, but their country have improve on trade and economy and their market capitalization is 5 times of malaysia in terms of GDP and trade. Even their stock market is several times in value compare to Malaysia. How Tuan67 should compare then??? Common not all Malaysians are stupid, we all malays(i dun wan to use the word bumiputra here) can also compare lar. Look 30 years ago P.Ramlee movie is the best in Asia. At that time South Korea, Japan, Thailand, India, China, Singapore got no movie industry(30 years ago) but today you can see all 6 countries have more movies produced every year compare to Malaysia, even the quality of their movies is much-much better then Malaysia movies. Look at their music industry, P.Ramlee songs was the best in Asia 25 years ago but today, have any of our music or songs penetrated other countries or gone global?? NONE!! This shows that our country is not improving. Even our own Malaysian chinese that have gone to Taiwan to sing is performing better then artiste in Malaysia. (look at Micheal Wong) So Tuan67, you are backward and your statistics are not correct. If we think we are proud of Proton, look at South Korea then, they have Hyundai, Kia, Samsung, LG, Daewoo and some many large conglomerates which have markets globally. Although South Korea 30 years ago is poorer then Malaysia in terms of natural resources, but look at their brands today, most of the brands mentioned have gone global and is well known worldwide, have our Malaysian brands gone global – not many rite Tuan67?? So please-please Tuan67 pls compare intelligently not stupidly as you are insulting our malay race by comparing us Bumiputra with Pakistan.

However, it’s sad that ppl are biased in judging hindraf’s core motion. Some think, ppl r fighting for that 1 million, some think it’s political, some just concentrate on the rally itself saying it’s wrong etc etc.. Police are torturing indians through road blocks. They give summonses which is not relevant at all.. Poor indians, we will still fight for our rights. Withous us, these people are useless, Malaysia would have been a jungle.

I doubt ‘Semi-Value’ is losing any sleep over this or staying up and reading this blog site 🙂 He knows this incident will just blow over in time…unless real steps are taken to remove him, his thugs, and his a$$-kissers from office. Merely blowing hot air in this forum is not going to get him out.
