I’ve completely lost faith in this govt. It’s full of lies, greedy, selfish and has no respect whatsoever for human beings.

If I feel like I’m being shortchanged, mistreated and my voice subdued by an overbearing father (the govt),… I take steps to finally overcome my fear of him and decide to voice my protest, by telling my mother (because father has over the years been deaf and dumb to my plight). I am a Malaysian citizen, and I am a subscriber of ASTRO Satellite TV Broadcast here in Malaysia. Recently I have subscribed to the ASTRO News Package which contains Al Jazeera and other foreign news media.

I was highly looking forward for the international news broadcast on all of the stations provided by the package when I had shocking news from our local news station claiming that the foreign news broadcasters are lying and making stories without properly acquiring the real facts and they are very good actors !!! Furthermore these claims were also made by our government’s politicians.

Now, this is rather disturbing and disappointing for me as I have only subscribed for the service for just a few days and I’m being bombarded with such claims. This eventually made me to think:

Am I an IDIOT to subscribe, pay and end up watching acts and lies

OR

Is there is any conspiracy going on here????

I clearly understand the fact that Al Jazeera has a strong principal called the Code of Ethics and you strictly follow it. But the claims by the politicians and local media here make me to think otherwise.

The claims below were broadcasted on 27-November-2007 in TV3 news station. Similar claims were also made in other local newscasters. This is just a few of the claims.

1. TV3 news station claimed that the foreign media cannot be trusted as they do not report the actual news.

2. YAB Datuk Sri Samy Velu claims that there were only 4,600 demonstrators on 25-November-2007 and NOT 50,000 or any other number as claimed by the foreign media.

3. TV3 news station said that the questions thrown at the Information Minister of Malaysia by Al Jazeera (Al Jazeera’s name was mentioned) was to purposely create a scene to show that Malaysia is in kiosk situation and Al Jazeera purposely built up the story from the real one. They also mentioned the criticism made by the Information Minister to Al Jazeera.

(Prior to sending the mail, I did some research on the net and actually found the video clip of the above Interview in Youtube. And I actually laughed myself out listening to the reply given by our Minister. Pity him for his language. But in the Malaysian news channel TV3, they only provided the “CLEAN” version of the transcript and the actual call was not aired. This makes me even more confused!!! Who is telling the truth here???)

Now, if Al Jazeera is telling lies,

It is high time for Al Jazeera to review back their Code of Ethics and provide the truth for the people. If you can’t do it then don’t cheat the entire world. And don’t broadcast your news at all. I am not a fool to keep paying for acts and lies.

And if Al Jazeera is NOT lying,

Well, what the heck. The damage has already been done. No one in Malaysia is going to listen to your news anyway due to the “VERY GOOD” publicity done by the Malaysian politicians and the local media. By the way, did I mention that our local media could also be received by our neighboring countries like Singapore and Thailand?

FINAL CONCLUSION

It is not my intension to insult Al Jazeera, other foreign media, our local media or the politicians. If you feel offended by this email, I sincerely apologize to you. Whatever the scenario is, all that I want (and the rest of Malaysian citizens who are in my situation want) is the truth. Since Al Jazeera’s and other foreign media’s names have been badly damaged here in Malaysia, Al Jazeera and the other foreign media’s SHOULD do something to fix it back or you may start loosing your viewer in Malaysia.(and its surrounding countries too)

I hope you could keep my details confidential and properly investigate on this issue (just incase if you don’t trust me) and find out the real truth behind such a drastic claims by our local media. That is if you still follow your Code of Ethics.

shames me that the school administrations are still controlled by the
church. I was also made to understand that many Muslim parents send
their kids to these schools, and that they have complained that
sometimes, the school is started with church songs. I do not know if
this is true, but what I discovered from these parents are the display
of religious symbols. I feel disappointed that in an Islamic country,
Malaysia, if I go to a convent school, the statue of St. Mary is
displayed in the front of the school.

influences in these schools need to be stopped. Also, the funds that
are collected at these schools. Do we have a report? If possible, the
ministry should reveal the funds for these schools. I was made to
understand that these schools are also sponsored by the church.

BTW I am sorry to hear about your rejection for a place at a public University. FYI I am a grad from a public Uni myself despite coming from an estate and Tamil school. My grandparents came to Malaysia as laborers and they know the value of education. My father studied hard and supported himself by working part time when his father passed away. And god rewarded him by getting him a govt job.

I am not the only one who had worked hard to be successful, many of my Uni mates were from estates. And none of us had special connections to get a uni place.

In fact I work for a multinational in a top management position now and travel the world most of the time. At this very moment I am several thousand kms from home at this moment.Had not my grandfather left for Malaysia, I would be probably working in a farm in India instead.

If I can make it without any political connections, then I am sure you could too. But if you had failed, then it is not the failure of MIC or the govt but YOU and only YOU.

You guys don’t know what you guys are missing and how lucky you are. My jobs takes me around the world, from the richest to the poorest. And folks, everytime I come back home, despite all the problems we have here, I never fail to thank god for his kindness in making me to be born a Malaysia.

A lot of Indians don’t realise the hard work Samy has done for the community. And it is shame on you guys to curse him this way. Had he failed to do his job, you folks probably still living in some estates.

Let’s talk about the Batu Caves incident and using the pictures that you asked me to see.

Now let me put in simple point form what the local media had reported and also IGP had stated. Please tell me which of these points are lies.

1. HINDRAF supporters went to Batu Caves temples and broke open the gates

2. They refused to leave upon asked by the temple committee

3. Temple committee called the police

4. The police asked the supporters to leave but they refused.

5. The HINDRAF supporters attacked the police with stones and bricks

6. Police used watercannon to subdue the crowd

7. The crowd damaged temple properties and also set fire to a tourist bus

8. Police did not use force and did not use water cannon or tear gas within the temple ground.

Now let’s look at the pics. These people are not people who came to pray. They had pictures of Gandhi and obviously they had come with other intentions.

Why they were doing at Batu Caves at that time ?

Look at the photos of the FRU using the watercannon. Look at the road. You can see bricks and stones on the road near the police ? That shows that the FRU were attacked by the devotees before the watercannon attack. So do you think these people are inncocent ?

I read Makkal Ossai the other day and it published a big news on how the police beat up the people. But it did not provide any evidence but just a witness account by someone claiming to be a news vendor who “happended” to be there (this is a joke right?). But the statement by the temple commitee was so small and put at some corner that I almost missed it.

So, simple question. If someone who were there can take some many pics, you think they would not have taken pics of police beating ?

There were hundreds of photographers and many more with camera handphones on that day, not to mention the TV news stations. How come not even one had a picture of police brutality ? Your friends can claim that but what can else you expect from HINDRAF supporters ? By taking part in the rally they are obviously biased and can’t be used as independent eyewitness.
