For grassroots, ask the division and branch leaders to compile statistics on Indian community in their areas, go for Tamil/English/BM classes, send their kids to Tamil schools (again, leadership by example).
They should also eat the humble pie and admit their weaknesses. Not create more lies to cover their deficiencies.
MIC members to chart strategies
KUALA LUMPUR: Some 3,700 MIC branch leaders representing 640,000 members will convene here on Sunday to chart strategies for the upcoming general election.
MIC president Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu said the convention, two weeks after MIC members and supporters gathered at the Cheras Badminton Stadium to pledge their support to Barisan Nasional and the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, would be opened by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak at the Putra World Trade Centre.
He said the one-day convention would provide an opportunity for branch chairmen to deliberate how MIC, as a political party, could optimise its resources and perform more effectively in serving the grassroots. “We will deliberate on how to prepare the party machinery effectively to secure Indian support in the general election,” he said. It was also aimed at strategising effective approaches in winning nine parliamentary and 19 state seats.
