A doctor, lawyers, teachers,…not bad. MIC trying to win back the community, especially at state levels. This is also to counter HINDRAF which has lawyers at its helm? The lawyers are to bring up issues to the govt? Means more problem for BN in the future?

ELECTION 2008: Samy makes changes at state level, drops war-horse Nijhar

KUALA LUMPUR, Wed:

The changes promised by MIC president Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu has come to the Indian community but only at state level. The veteran leader announced today candidates for 12 of the 19 state seats the party will contest on March 8. The MIC leader elected to keep seven of the party’s nine members of parliament.  Two new comers for parliament are Federal Territory MIC chief Datuk M Saravanan who replaces vice-president Datuk S. Veerasingam and Shah Alam division youth chief and Central Working Committee (CWC) member S. Murugesan, who takes over from Subang MP and vice-president Tan Sri Dr K.S. Nijhar. It is the end of the road for Nijhar but veteran Veerasingam soldiers on as a candidate for the Sungkai state seat.

Samy Vellu said the party was keeping its promise to bring changes while retaining experience. Among the new candidates are three lawyers, an orthopedic surgeon, two teachers, two businessmen and a Senator – a representation of the rank and file to the professional member in the party.

In keeping with troubled times, the MIC lined up seven lawyers and two who have read law but never practiced.  We feel they are able to discuss and negotiate on issues plaguing the Indian community and bring it up to the government,” he said. “This will help alleviate the problems faced by the Indian community.”

Samy Vellu was enthusiastic about the party’s new line up.”We have now given the Indian community new candidates,” he said. “We are confident they will vote for these new representatives. And the people have said that they want to be represented by qualified persons, and we have given them that, who are able to look into their issues.”

    MP: edited.

The MIC can come up wth highly qualified individuals to hoodwink the Indian voters but can these candidates be able to ‘discuss and negotiate’ with the BN to be fair to the Indians.

Won’t the BN especially the UMNO bigots like Nazri invoke ‘breaking rank’ rule and try to suspend or even evict them from BN?

So long as component parties in the BN don’t have a say in the functioning of the government and the implementation of policies, even highly educated people will end up as mules or worse still, the neutered dogs of the BN.

First the MIC, MCA and GERAKAN must muster their courage and fight for equal right in the BN before they can fight for the rights of the people who voted for them. Can they do it? Take KTK for example; he has even given the Gerakan’s right to choose the next CM for Penang to his buddy, Pak Lah.

Do you think (edited) like him will fight for the rights of the people? He is highly educated!! Is it helping the community?

So Mauriya what’s your solution ? Don’t vote MIC ? So we will have even less representation in the parliment ? Kill the only party that represents the Indians ? So that Indians have even lesser say in BN and govt ?

Please be logical and sensible in your suggestion. You are not making any sense here and behaving jike a juvenile.

Let’ s say that we vote the DAP, do you think DAP can make a change ? Do you think they even bothered about Indians ? Of course they talk loud now but ask long time DAP members and they will tell you that Indians are there just to make up the numbers.

PKR ? This is joke party really. This party is akin to a bad comedian in a Tamil movie to keep us laughing at the stupid jokes / lawak bodoh. There is no difference between PAS and PKR.

PAS ? Good luck lah, please go and vote them and encourage these racist and extremist party. Despite what they try to say, they will never compromise on one thing, Islamic nation.

Or you want to send a message to BN or deprive 2/3 majority ? Hello wake up…this is NOT going to happen. Go and look at the political situation and number of seats. BN will easily get 2/3 though DAP will get stronger endorsement this time.

Indians’ vote will be split ? Sorry to disappoint you again but the talk about 80 tp 80 % Indians voting BN in the past is just bullshit (sorry for my harsh language). Don’t believe me, go and analyze the past elections.

Even if 80% of Indians vote the Opposition (which not going to happen), it will make no diffrence. All the talk about Kingmaker is just a script taken from a Kollywood production.

    Wake up from your slumber….

    Dear Killer,

It is people like you who give BN the high-handedness when dealing with Indians and their problems. They treat Indians as pushovers and non-issues because Indians like you cannot believe that the country can be run by other non BN Malaysians.

You cannot even contemplate an increase in the Indian vote of dissent against the BN in the coming elections. Perhaps you are a cynic of the progress made by the Indians in Malaysia in recent times.

You are going to see the power of the Indian vote of dissent against the BN in the coming elections! I would like you to make an analysis of the number of Indian voters in the last (2004) elections and the coming elections and see whether there is a correlation between the increase in the number of Indian voters in a particular constituency has any bearing to the defeat of the BN candidates (of whichever component party).

It is time for a paradigm shift in the thinking of the Indian voters in Malaysia! Pessimists and conformists like you can only stare and watch in horror!

Wake up from your slumber first !

    Dear Balan

Oh man, where did you learn to write like that ? So painful to read through….However you would do well as script writer for a political party’s propaganda department, I see a bright future for you in politics….

BTW you seems to have completely missed my point. So you vote our pathetic opposition and then what ? What happens after that, after the GE ? Would that make any difference to our situation ? You would have killed the MIC and we will have left with DAP/PKR to fight for us. Well, they have never done anything for Indians before and unlikely to remember us after GE, after pocketing our votes.

At least if we have the MIC we will have someone to represent us in the govt and despite what you clowns say always had stood for Indians though the result might not always what we wish for. But then I don’t think it is MIC’s fault but due to other factors beyond it. And if MIC can’t do it you think DAP/PKR/PAS can do for Indians…?

You see that’s the problem with Indians, too emotional without thinking through, unlike the more pragmatic Chinese. You keep harping about voting for the Opposition but you don’t have a solution. Just cheap and empty TALK !!

Dream on, bro…keep dreaming and live in a Kollywood make-believe fanstasy world….

  5. mmuurrllyy says:

    dear killer.
u said “MIC’s fault but due to other factors beyond it”
    can you tell the factors?
or it ‘s just another a crap from you

  6. Killer says:

    Yo mmuurrllyy

Remember MIC is a political party and not a welfare organization or charity house. MIC is only as good as the support it gets from the community. People like you and other HINDRAF/Makkal Sakti supporters sit back and contribute nothing but very quick in turning armchair critics.

The Chinese are way ahead of us because they are united and support their political and welfare organizations. But Indians do not support Indian organizations such as MIC and others in terms of service or financial support. But they expect MIC to do wonders.

Many of the issues that highlighted are nothing to with MIC. There is nothing MIC can do in regards to NEP as this was the social contract that was agreed by our forefathers. How can we expect MIC to do something when even the Chinese can’t ? But unlike the losers Indians, the Chinese decide to exploit the many opportunities that available to progress, rather than whine like you guys.

As for illegal temples, well this is a problem created by irresponsible people and don’t blame MIC for it. This is exactly like the case of Simpang Renggam. You break the law and then we you get into trouble you accuse MIC of doing nothing. You won’t be in Spg Renggam if you don’t engage in illegal activities.

  7. balan says:

    Dear Killer,

You talk of the MIC as though it is the only organisation that represents the Indians in Malaysia!

Remember, there are other Malaysian organisations where Indians are represented. I will not list them because I think you are capable of finding them.

Yes, MIC is within the present BN Government. But what clout did MIC have while being in the BN Government? Could the MIC use its so-called alliance with the ruling BN Government to improve the situation of Tamil Schools located at privately owned lands (especially in plantations)?

Theoretically, an equal partner in the Government could insist the use of the law to acquire the lands on which these schools are located and bring them under the national schools’ system. The Land Acquisition Act is already in place. Why did MIC not insist that the lands on which Tamil Schools (and why not the Hindu Temples, too?) be acquired by the government all these years?

Mr Killer, the MIC cannot do so because it is an unequal partner in the BN government. The MIC is there for name sake only. MIC has no real power to do so. I am sure you would have read about the MIC representatives in Parliament who were brave enough to raise the issues of the CMSU Medical College in Ukraine (YB Dato Sothinathan) and the issue of Indians being marginalised in Malaysia (YB Mr Devamani) but you know what happened to them ! One was suspended from Parliament for a few months while the other had to meet the BN Whip and explain! What kind of respect does the BN Government give to an elected MIC rep in Parliament ? What respect would the BN government give to an ordinary Indian who voices out these issues? ISA detention, of course!

Mr Killer, do not forget that the Congress Party that ruled India since independence in 1947 has already been toppled by other parties. Do not think that Malaysians (I am not referring to Malaysian Indians only here) can lie taking all the nonsense of the BN all the time. The time may not be this elections but the time will come. Most definitely!

Would all the Malaysian Indians face imminent disaster when this event occurs? Definitely not.

Keep up your support of the MIC and the BN government. They need your support. But keep your mind open to the other possibilities that could happen in this country, too.

  8. Killi Valavan says:

    Crooks are always crooks !
They have been tamed and trained to be idiots in MIC . The loyal pets are now going house by house to convince ppl to vote them (i’m begging them to come to my house) . In northen side they’re distributing CDs claiming themselves to be champ for Indian community . The fact is that they have sold indian dignity to umno for decades .
They have assaulted many Indians (AthiKumanan,TamilMani,Pandithan,Subra…etc) but did they react a bit when umno fellows(like khairy, hissamuddin…etc) harass Indians ??? Jerks !
They dun have the foundation to represent Indians .
I know many MIC branch ppl , all of them are only hunger for money , political pride and strengthen thuggery ……… nothing else .

Any ‘manamulla’ Indian will not vote for them !

  9. Killer says:

    Dear Killi and Balan

You can talk all you want, for all these are “cakap kosong”. The General Election is not too far and after that all these stupid talk of HINDRAF and Makkal Sakthi will die off…..

All your boldness and bravery are just talk guys…while you condemn MIC please ask yourself if you have done anything. Well please list the achievements of these heroes of HINDRAF/Makkal Sakthi have done for Indians in this country…I know the answer, a big fat ZERO….

Claims that MIC did nothing or betrayed Indians are not just nonsense but naked lies….

Whatever you say about MIC they will win their seats and BN will return to power with 2/3 majority…just wait and see…We will talk again after the GE and then I will see what you got to say.
