What can the NS people comment on this? The independent candidate Jeevakumar, a lawyers, seems pretty confident of his chances and claims won’t lose his deposit. 2 of the 3 seats sees a 3-cornered fight, so most likely will affect the opposition.

ELECTION 2008: Negri Sembilan MIC candidates remain optimistic of chances

PORT DICKSON, Fri:

Negri Sembilan MIC candidates remain positive that they will retain all three parliament and state seats although two – Teluk Kemang parliament and Port Dickson state – are embroiled in the only three-cornered fights in the state.
State MIC chairman Datuk T. Rajagopalu, who is defending the Port Dickson seat, believes the situation will not cause the party problems and that the two independents posed no threat.  Deputy minister of natural resources and environment and MIC vice-president, Datuk S. Sothinathan will defend his Teluk Kemang seat, while first time contender, V. Mogan will contest the Jeram Padang state seat.  Sothinathan will face Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) state chief, Kamarul Baharin Abbas and independent candidate Mohd Rashid Arshad, while Rajagopalu will face PKR’s M. Ravi and independent, Jeevakumar Marimuthu. Mogan will take on K. Manoharan (PKR).

“These independents have sprung out of nowhere. Nobody even knows who they are and suddenly they want to contest in the general election. There is no way voters will abandon BN to vote for somebody they don’t even know,” said Rajagopalu. Asked if there was a possibility that the presence of these independents may split votes, thus giving the BN a lesser majority, he said there would be no such thing. “They are as good as not being there at all. I don’t know what they are trying to achieve by wasting their time here.”

Sothinathan, meanwhile, also brushed aside the possibility that independents may create confusion among voters, reducing the BN’s majority. “It does not matter how many candidates are contesting. As long as the voters want the BN, they will vote the BN,” he said.

However, Sothinathan said they were not taking anything for granted and were rigorously campaigning. “Our aim is to try and increase our majorities as much as possible. We want to maximise the campaign period and meet as many voters as possible come polling day,” he said.

However, contrary to what the MIC candidates say, Jeevakumar believes voters will opt for an independent as opposed to a candidate who is “tied down” to a political party. “What the voters need is someone who can fight for them without being tied down and obligated to any political party,” he said. “An independent can fight without fear or favour and this is what the people want,” said Jeevakumar, who is a lawyer by profession. He said he had no ulterior motives in contesting, but merely wanted to represent the people’s interest. “There is no way I will lose my deposit. I will do my best and believe the voters will make the best choice,” he added.

Sothinathan is right. BN supporters will vote for him. The 3rd inependent candidate will not take away the votes from BN. He will break the opposition into 2. Thus ensuring The incumbents win. Sothinathan has a very big majority of 17000 over his opponent in the last election.

Also, even though makkal sakthi is strong,PD people esp indians still have sentiments on sothinathan. I have cousins who talk day and night about Hindraf but ask : who else do we vote if not our sothi?”

SPINELESS INDIANS WHO HAVE NO SHAME OR PRIDE.

ITS NOT ABOUT SOTHI. PEOPLE LIKE THIS CANNOT BE SAVED.

Raja petra has stated in his latest article.
Makkal sakthi : Prove it in the elections! Dont talk. show in action.
Then only the Chinese and Malays will respect you.

Unless, like samy vellu says THE INDIANS WILL FORGET AND COME BACK BEGGING TO MIC WITHIN 3 MONHS.

Vetrivel you are very right . I’ve came across many Indians with ‘low spirit’ mentality . These ppl scared to death to vote opposition thinking there will be powerful tornado if BN loses . Many of us busy explaining to such ppl for days to convince them .

The momentum is good this election with rise of Hindraf , Bersih …etc .
I personal feel that , if in this election Indians fail to show frustration then in coming years not Hindraf 5 but even the God will have difficulty to save M’sian Indians from ditch .

MP: Killer, i read RPK’s articles when it gets forwarded via email. Some of it sounds out-of-this world and certainly can be said as slander against certain people. So, why don’t the police investigate him, or the named people in his articles make a police report? How can he is still out and freely writing? His domain and webserver maybe foreign registered and located, but he is in Malaysia, so our laws do apply right?

    Exactly right…

You support makkal sakhti is like having a “Chinna veedu”. She might be young, sexy and attractive but end of the day Indians have no choice to stick with MIC, the legitimate “wife” because come whatever she will be there for them until the end.

It has nothing to do being “spineless”, it is logical.

RPK is a conman and a BS-artist. He knows how to talk and spin tales of half-truths. RPK, don’t talk about guts. You stand in the election if you got the guts and let the people decide. I am sure he won’t because he will be crushed.

Killer, Killer you really tickle us pink. Why would anyone choose the MIC? Because it’s the legitimate wife? What you ingat MIC is indispensable to the Indians like oxygen or water kah? Stick with the wife even after she has cheated you, lied to you, stole your money, slept around with other man, abuse you, take you for granted. If you are married or in the future married, your wife does all those things to you and you still stick by her, then I salute you Killer. You really know the word LOYALTY. But maybe you are not so familiar with the word STUPIDITY.

RPK is a conman and BS artist? If so why don’t the IGP catch him and charge him in court for slander and sedition for linking the IGP and his cronies in the police force to Johor based triads? Mind you those are very serious accusations and not main-main. Furthermore, the characters named by RPK such as Tengku Goh came out in the news when he was arrested by the CCID. What happened after that, Ramli head of CCID and No. 3 police officer was arrested, sacked and now facing charges of corruption in court. While several of the IO in the Tengku Goh case were disciplined and threatened. Tengku Goh himself walked away a free man. How do you explain the queer timing of Ramli and his subordinates arrests? Right after he arrested Tengku Goh? What a coincidence!
