While MIBA was busy arguing about YSS’s initiative, its interesting to note that EPU have not done anything (at least that we know of) on the previous recommendations by MIC/YSS nor after PM met the NGOs early this year. And EPU is directly under PM’s department! And I still think the community should aim for 10%. Who in the first place set the meagre 3% target? » Read more: MIBA questions meeting with EPU by YSS

125 years old temple in danger
March 30th, 2008This temple in Shah Alam has been applying for land the last 40 years and nothing happened. I guess another one of MIC’s achievement. And the MIC bloke from Kuala Langat got the guts to ask us what they have not done for the community! I would not be surprised if the temple was demolished if Khir Toyo was still in charge after March 8.
And the Indian community, having shown the door to MIC, is still approaching Indian EXCO to solve problems instead of the EXCO in charge of the problem area. Perhaps the community is still shackled with the racial chain deeply ingrained in them by years of racial politics. OR the just feel that only another Indian can understand their problems. » Read more: 125 years old temple in danger
Samy blasts opposition EXCO setup
March 30th, 2008I kind of agree with SV on this. It is disappointing to read that DAP “allocated” two seats for Indians in Perak. It should always be “best person for the job”, doesn’t matter on his skin color. If Perak DAP assemblymen oppose to this, then they should be exposed for who they really are. the state governments (all of them) must be able to show on what criteria were portfolios allocated to the selected assemblymen. Put up the assemblymen biodata as well, and let the people judge for themselves if the state government have any hidden agenda in allocation such positions. » Read more: Samy blasts opposition EXCO setup
take the e out of equality
March 30th, 2008PM was talking about equality, or the lack of it, that the Penang government plans to adhere to by using open tender system and pledging to be transparent. He says equality is not same as fairness. Yes, true to a certain extent. However, the opposite of being equal (using discriminative evaluation), means unfairness if the factors considered are irrelevant or not able to improve on the quality of work. My take is forget on worrying about equality or fairness. What the rakyat wants in quality. That should not be compromised. There should be some programs to help the under-privileged, the poor, the disabled, the budding entrepreneurs etc, but not at the expense of other groups or by sidelining others. If not, the programs will be misused by selected few , resulting in more unfair distribution. » Read more: take the e out of equality
NUPW to renew duel with Human Resource Ministry
March 30th, 2008Earlier, NUPW tried their luck with Fong Chan On. Now its Dr S.Subramaniam they want to meet. Having COLA (Cost of Living Allowance) would certainly help, but what would happen when the prices of the commodities go down? » Read more: NUPW to renew duel with Human Resource Ministry
