Following up on their boss’ call for rebranding, MIC Youth launches its new office and website today.Drop by http://www.pemudamic.org

According
to its newly appointed chief (no more temporary coordinator?) T Mohan, the opening of the new office “showed that the Youth wing was serious in its efforts to rebrand the party and at the same time serve its members
more effectively.”

We will station a communications officer at the office to hear and solve problems that crop up. We normally deal with issues concerning birth certificates and identity cards.

“This office would also serve as a one-stop centre. We will deal with these problems systematically. We will also forward problems to the relevant
authorities and two other officers will be in charge of this,” he told reporters after the opening by party president Datuk Seri S.Samy Vellu.

He said all complaints pertaining to social and welfare issues would be handled by several other officers who would man the office from 9am to 6pm from Monday to Friday and 9am to 1pm on Saturday.

Racist teacher transferred out of state while police is powerless

Earlier, we had the community fuming at the lackadaisical attitude shown by those responsible in punishing the teacher who insulted the Indian community. Only a warning letter was issued But today, the Star reported Deputy Education Minister Wee Ka Siong saying that the teacher will be transferred out of Selangor next week (when school reopens).

He clarified that this was past of the disciplinary measures decided upon completion of the investigation. One then has to wonder why this punishment was not revealed earlier together with the warning letter.

The teacher, who is currently suspended from school and doing
clerical work in the Selangor Education Department, has been undergoing
two-week counselling. She has been reprimanded and given a stern warning. The teacher has promised that the incident will not recur.

Not sure if this the “we will do it our way” outcome of MIC.

Meanwhile, the police admitted that they cannot act against teachers like Ms Rusitah who go about insulting the Indian community, unless they physically harmed the students.

District criminal investigations department chief Deputy Superintendent
Roslan Ibrahim said no action could be taken against a teacher accused
of verbal abuse.

“When such cases (verbal abuse) are reported, we can only forward it to the Education Department for further action,” he said.

On racial slurs, Roslan said it could be categorised as mental abuse.

“However it would be difficult to charge a teacher suspected of
racially abusing a student unless there is strong supporting evidence
and witnesses who are willing to testify in court,” he said.

MIC goes multiracial!

Only in stance, so don’t go and storm the HQ for membership forms! Samy Vellu says MIC had learnt a lesson from the General Elections:

MIC will adopt a multi-racial stance in dealing with the people’s problems, party president Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu said here.

He said the problems facing the Indian community could only be resolved through a non-racial approach as was evident after the 2008 general election.

There must be understanding and respect among all races. There must be a give-and-take attitude. Only then can we all survive as a Malaysian race, he said here yesterday.

MIC will still represent Indians, he says and will ask for what is rightful.

We will only ask what is rightfully ours without infringing upon the rights of the other communities.

Question: Is asking for children not to be unilaterally converted by spouse who convert to Islam can be considered as “asking for what is rightfully ours without infringing upon the rights of the other communities”?

Question: Is a convert to Islam who unilaterally convert the children without spouse’ knowledge and involvement is considered an act of “asking for what is rightfully ours without infringing upon the rights of the other communities”?
