Well, after Syed Hamis insulted Gerakan indirectly by saying government will not listen to political parties when asked about releasing the 5 Hindraf ISA detainees, Samy Vellu throws his weight and asks the government to release 4 out of the 5 detainees. He specifically mentions that one of the is sick while another has been elected as assemblyman. 2 others are not much involved in the rally organisation. He did not mention about Uthayakumar. » Read more: Samy tries to free Hindraf 5

Samy blasts opposition EXCO setup
March 30th, 2008I kind of agree with SV on this. It is disappointing to read that DAP “allocated” two seats for Indians in Perak. It should always be “best person for the job”, doesn’t matter on his skin color. If Perak DAP assemblymen oppose to this, then they should be exposed for who they really are. the state governments (all of them) must be able to show on what criteria were portfolios allocated to the selected assemblymen. Put up the assemblymen biodata as well, and let the people judge for themselves if the state government have any hidden agenda in allocation such positions. » Read more: Samy blasts opposition EXCO setup
take the e out of equality
March 30th, 2008PM was talking about equality, or the lack of it, that the Penang government plans to adhere to by using open tender system and pledging to be transparent. He says equality is not same as fairness. Yes, true to a certain extent. However, the opposite of being equal (using discriminative evaluation), means unfairness if the factors considered are irrelevant or not able to improve on the quality of work. My take is forget on worrying about equality or fairness. What the rakyat wants in quality. That should not be compromised. There should be some programs to help the under-privileged, the poor, the disabled, the budding entrepreneurs etc, but not at the expense of other groups or by sidelining others. If not, the programs will be misused by selected few , resulting in more unfair distribution. » Read more: take the e out of equality
reMIC
March 30th, 2008Rebrand. Rejuvenate. Revamp. Revitalise. Re-energise. Replace. Looks like words taken from a dictionary! Well, “re-” all you want. Why not just reMIC the whole of MIC? Close shop and try something else for a living. Or quite en-bloc and call for early elections. How about setting retirement age at 72 and limiting term of office-bearers? Oh..one more thing – ensure all members are from Tamil school and their children go to Tamil school, or drop the “champion rights of Tamil school” tag. » Read more: reMIC
MIC councillor arrested by ACA
March 30th, 2008Hmm… is this the actual reason for one the MIC candidates being dropped from Johor state seat election? In the beginning, Samy Velu said the candidate was dropped because the constituency “had more women voters” and thus a woman candidate was chosen. Even the original candidate said that. But MK did mention that the actual reason may be linked to an investigation by ACA. » Read more: MIC councillor arrested by ACA
