Kedah MB promises Thaipusam holiday next year
KEDAH Mentri Besar and state Barisan Nasional chief Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid said necessary action will be taken to ensure that Thaipusam is declared a state public holiday next year, Malaysia Nanban reported.
He was speaking to reporters after visiting the Paya Besar National Primary School in Lunas and also meeting the residents of Padang Serai in Lunas on Monday.
He said the people should vote for Barisan, as its able leadership had provided the opportunity for the people to live in peace and harmony for the past 50 years.
Mahdzir also announced that the 58 Tamil schools in Kulim Bandar Baru and Padang Serai district would each receive a RM10,000 grant from the state government. He said a new Tamil school would be built in Paya Besar and the Government had approved RM4.6mil for the project.
He said the project was under the purview of Education Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein and Works Minister Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu.
It looks like the BN had all along been blind about the Indians’ plight in the country. Hindraf has finally opened the eyes of the BN politicians to the marginalisation of the Indians.
Forget about the MIC and its thuggish leader. He is forever the chest thumping thug that he is. All politicians irrespective of their party affliations might wake up to reality but NOT Samy Velu. He has been and IS in denial mode.
The Chinese got millions of ringgit as ang pow. What about the Indians? They were given Thaipusam holiday for the federal territories and the promise of a few millions to renovate and relocate a few Tamil schools.
With the general elections imminient even the Kedah MB has jumped onto the bandwagon to promise Thaipusam holiday for Kedah next year. What other holidays in 5 years time? The Ponggal holiday!
Nobody is really interested to look into the root cause of the dissatisfaction of the Indians. The MIC morons will never admit that the Indians are the third class citizens in Malaysia. Nor will they admit that the Indians are the poorest of the poor. How can they? They are filthy rich with properties all over, even in India and Australia. Their accumulated wealth over the past decades is enough for themselves and future generations to live in style!
Now only, they reluctantly admit that thousands are without birth certificates, blue ICs and have other documentation problems. It is very easy for the VERY educated MIC leaders to brand all those as morons. It is a fact that they being morons elected the socalled great leaders in MIC. Why didn’t the MIC do something to help these ‘morons’? Why is it that they only woke up from their slumber after Hindraf gave a tight slap to their shameless lying face?
If Samy Velu has the moral courage to admit that he and the MIC has not done their part for the Indian community, he should resign. If he wants to measure his popularity among the Indians, he should relinquish the Sungai Siput seat and stand in Selangor or in any constituency where the majority of the voters are Indians and Chinese.
Anywhere except Sungai Siput, and Samy Velu might find his political career meeting an ignominous end.
