did or did not?

Hmm..yesterday was quite interesting. RPK gave a statutory declaration that included statement saying PM Badawi received a report from military intelligence. But Badawi denied it.

Then, if you remember the indelible ink issue during the last election, the Election Comission’s chairman Abdul Rashid said that it was the Cabinet decision that “instructed” him to not use the inks (bought for RM2 million – can purchase land and build one Tamil school!) just days before the election. If I’m not mistaken the chairman implicated PM Badawi as well. In yesterday’s Parliament session, PM gave a written reply to Lim Guan Eng’s question. According to the reply, the Cabinet only “suggested” and the decision was still with the commission.

So, who is lying and who is not?

While we were amused and maybe horrified over the directive issued by Kota Bahru Municipal Council, those guys clarified that its just a confusion over a circular and brochure on dress codes for Muslims women which was sent out to local businesses.  The MPKB PR officer said its part of an “awareness campaign”.

The brochure is just a part of a campaign to explain to Muslim women the dress codes according to Islam which forbid the use of lipsticks and high-heel shoes.

However, if they (do not comply with this) dress code, MPKB has no right to take action

The local media is unhappy that only 5 employees are allowed from one organization due to “security concerns” and that to at limited location. The reason given by Deputy Speaker to avoid “the chaotic scenes during the last session of parliament in the lobby”.

Thus, the media has began boycotting the all the press conference and events held outside the Dewan Rakyat hall as revealed by Malaysiakini. So, who needs who now?

200th day under ISA for HINDRAF 5

29th June 2008 will mark the 200th day under ISA detention for the 5 HINDRAF leaders (detained since 13th December 2007). What is the opinion or comment of the Indian community on this? What do you, the man (woman) in the street have to say? Agree? Disagree? Hurt? Angry? Don’t Care? Feel hopeless?

Should they be released? Should they be brought to court for a fair trial? Should we instead ask for those who claim these people are linked to terrorists to be put under ISA?

Having a hard time wondering how long is 200 days? Well, sit back and think what you have done since 1st January 2008. Changed career, met a new love, bought new things, voted in elections, paying higher for petrol, met new friends, watched plenty of movies, attended weddings, graduated, went for holiday, involved in new hobby, learned new skill, moved house, got married, and many, many more things would have happened in the last 6 months. Feels like a long time doesn’t it?

Share your thoughts please.
