St Andrews to name new faculty after B.C. Sekharsource

KUALA LUMPUR: University of St Andrews, the third oldest university in the world will name its new School of Medicine and Science after the late Tan Sri B.C. Sekhar.
In announcing this yesterday, the Sekhar Foundation, the charitable arm of the Petra Foundation group, has agreed to give RM56 million in scholarships to deserving Malaysian and South Asian students. » Read more: faculty named after BC Sekhar

I’m curious, can teachers hold position in political parties? I thought government staff cannot do so? Or is the rule only for “degree holders and above” category staff?
