after a relatively short saga on meanings of "bocor", now-i-apologise-now-i-don't scenes, comments by various experts on acceptable behaviour of our YBs, reflections on YBs being humans after all ("things can get carried away or emotional during debates" – according to one minister),  we finally have it..Yes..the two YBs apologised..finally…Again!

MPs make public apology to all women

The MPs who made the "bocor" remarks in Parliament made a formal public apology to all women after meeting Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil Friday morning.

Shahrizat said there is now "closure" with the open apology by Jasin MP Datuk Mohd Said Yusof and Kinabatangan MP Datuk Bung Mokthar Radin.

She added that her Ministry accepts the apology with "grace".

"It is up to them to personally and specifically apologise to (Batu Gajah MP) Fong Po Kuan," she said.

"I would like to categorically state that sexism in any form, by words or action, by men or women, whether in Parliament made by elected representatives of both Government and Opposition or indeed anywhere else in this country, is not acceptable.

"I have in no uncertain terms communicated to the two MPs from Kinabatangan and Jasin the Ministry's unflinching stand on this matter i.e. do not trifle with gender issues.

"They have offered their sincere apologies and expressed their remorse over what had happened as they said they never intended to offend anybody.

"As they have tendered their public apology to the women of Malaysia through this Ministry, we must have the grace to accept it with a serious reminder that this kind of episode must never happen again."

the Federal Court granted leave for appeal to Subashini to appeal against the decision by Court of Appeal ordering her to go to Syariah Court.

the court ALSO granted leave for appeal to Saravanan to appeal against decision to prevent him from initiating or continuing any proceedings in the Syariah Court or converting their youngest son pending the final outcome at the apex court.

so, now she is to appeal againsts going to syariah court, while he is to appeal to continue proceedings in Syariah Court while waiting for this court to decide ….

beats me!

anyhow, the Federal Court is yet to determine whether it is able to answer the nine questions posed by Subashini as it may predetermine the divorce case outcome.

KUALA LUMPUR: The Internal Security Ministry is studying the recently published book on May 13 to see if it violated the Printing Press and Publications Act 1984.
Its Deputy Minister Datuk Fu Ah Kiow confirmed that the book was not banned and that his officers were reading it to check whether it was prejudicial to public order, morality or security.
“We are not taking any action now because we have to study the contents of the book and see if it is likely to alarm public opinion.”
It was reported that ministry officials seized 10 copies of the book from a bookstore in Mid-Valley Megamall here on Tuesday.
A publisher said books were seized when they covered controversial issues.
The book on the 1969 riots, titled May 13: Declassified Documents on the Malaysian Riots of 1969, was launched on Sunday at the Chinese Assembly Hall here.
Activist Dr Kua Kia Soong wrote the book based on his research at the Public Records Office in London.
Yesterday, Dr Kua said that if the book were banned, publisher Suara Rakyat Malaysia (Suaram) would put it online. He said the book was written to uncover the truth and was in line with Vision 2020.
“Getting to the truth of matter, the facts in the book will help in building a knowledgeable community and a society that will be able to achieve peace with itself.
“The facts in the book are based on recorded documents and will help us exorcise the ghosts of May 13,” said Kua, a former lecturer at National University of Singapore and Petaling Jaya MP from 1990 to 1995.
“The inquiry is crucial for national reconciliation – the elusive national unity we talk about, the elusive ethnic relations we want in this country. Unless we have that inquiry, we will not get that reconciliation,” he added.
Meanwhile, most bookshops here have sold out their copies.
