The proposal to relocate Klang Bus Station (in midddle of Klang Town) to Meru was taken quite some time back. The construction started soon after that, and now the new terminal is ready. The opening has been postponed few times already. Now its scheduled for 29th December.
The new terminal is located near Taman Aman Perdana and its about 2 minutes from the Setia Alam interchange on Jalan Meru. I passed by the place on Sunday night. The road will soon be congested if buses start to operate.
The problem now is that many residents are opposing the relocation. For those folks from Kapar and beyond, they have to take two buses to reach Klang Town. Same goes for those who want to go to Kapar and beyond. Students, for example, will be having problem attending tuition in Klang Town.
The areas around new terminal will of course benefit from the traffic generated. Businesses will soon occupy the new shoplots. Giant and Tesco are also near to the new terminal. But will the local residents make use of it, or will it be monopolized by foreign workers?
Perhaps a better location for a bus terminal would have been near any of the KTM Komuter station, since it would have provided some sort of integration.
I went to the area few times since my close friend staying there. Setia Alam did a great job by creating a new town, btw..the bus station is about 5-7 minutes from Setia Alam. It is very near, like you said the road will get congested soon. The current road only good enough for the cars and bike. It is a mistake locating the bus station there.
about shop lots and job opportunities, I been to the Tesco few times, glad to see many Indians working there, but the foreigners will take their chances too as usual..
This is a stupid move and while PR govt can claim that this was initiated by the former administration, they have no excuse for riding roughshod over public opinion.
One of the fundamental principle of transportation planning is integration of various transport modes (KL Sentral for example). This move, instead of encouraging more ppl to use public transport, will discourage it. Though this only applies to express buses, this makes no sense to separate express buses from town buses.
MPK and Selangor govt also is causing so much pain to Klangites by the disasterous bridge construction which is also handled in an unprofessional manner.
The self-proclaimed people friendly govt is hardly people-friendly at all. The shocking treatment of Charles Santiago and Manikavasagam for raising these issues is something that all Indians should note.
BTW how come the “hot” issue of Manikavasagam has not been covered ah ?
I agree with Anil Netto’s article on his blog – make the agreements public. If it involves red tape, then suspend the relocation until things are clarified.
Manikavasagam issue – coming soon 🙂 I’m clearing the backlog of articles.
As an MP and leader he should lead the people not let himself to be controlled by self interested group of people……he must get the nessecery information from state gov and deal with the issue not sensationalising the issue by threatening to resign.
This is not the first time he doing it…during ijok by election he did the same thing because PKR refuse to choose indian candidate.
All this episode reflect badly on him and shows how good is his capability in crisis management….this is the kind of issue which need a leader to use his head not his heart.
People will demand a lot in emotion because they dont know and dont care about the reason for relocations…they mite prefer to trade and carry out their daily duties in a dirty and polluted environment just because they are used to it…elected representatives is the one who must arrange meetings with the opposing group and go to the ground to explain the state gov stand.
Having bus stop location in the centre of town is contributing to traffic and pollution problem in the already crowded, over develop and high density area.
PKR,DAP and PAS is not in oppositions anymore pakatan rakyat is leading a develop state selangor ….so its very important for all elected representatives in selangor to horn their management, communication and crisis handling skills and behave like an elected representatives from develop state.
People wont accept change easily political leaders is the one who must lead, teach, train, educate and transform the people of selangor.
Why gov never ever think about us lah!
what will happen to those working at KL? If let say their working hours is 8.30 to 5.30, wat time they will reach their office?
Previous bus stand at klang is mere comfortable for us…
i am from kapar if let say i want to go to klang little india, i need to get down at the Klang Sentral and take another bus to klang????
before is not like tis wat!!! before just take a bus from kapar to klang only one bus……………………………………………………….
AS MALAYSIA CITIZEN IAM REALY NOT HAPPY WITH TIS CHANGES!!!!!
Note: NOT ONLY ME BUT MOST OF THEM IN TOWN!!!
KLANG MAKKAL…………………
Though I am not exactly his fan, the issue here is the Klang Sentral. Why the Selangor govt is so secretive and adamant ? This leads one to suspect that there are DAP and PKR cronies stand to benefit. Instead of helping the people, suddenly the PR become buddy buddy with the business people.
The same is happening in Penang where the irritating CM LGE has suddenly become “business focused”.
I read that the Selangor govt having a meeting to sort out the issue. But funnily the stakeholder most affected, the rakyat, has been left out of this. Mike too has been left out. So it does seems that the MB and Teng is more interested in the interests of business than people.
MP: Edited
Killer,
You are nothing but an utter disgrace to the community. You once cursed MS and now returning to champion many issues typical of a slave owned and raised by UMNO.
You condemn DAP and Keadilan, but it was the very MPs themselves who raised the concerns above. It shows democracy is live and well within Pakatan, where else in your beloved BN – MIC is treated akin a third class pariahs.
Samy has recently been disgraced in India, so why dont you go and wipe his hardly bruised ass, you might get something somewhere from uncle sam.
By the way, UMNO needs some kuli to stick posters of najib in KT, I will nominate your name for it. Oh yah, I forgot, you go by the nickname Killer, although I bet the most you would have killed is your self respect. You are nothing but a cursed **********.

Can I ask something? How far the Klang Central from Klang City?
Its about 8km, but plenty of traffic lights to pass through. The road between Meru and Klang town is always jammed, with cars parked along roadside. So, the journey can easily take between 10 to 30 minutes.
It is situated about 9 kilometers away from the Klang town centre.
