3. upload your form into their system.
any problem, can also email shell.
TQ I APPLIED,BUT I GOT KICK BY 3 SCHOLARSHIP [SIME DARBY, TNB, TODAY ,PETRONAS} IS THE STILL ANY MORE SCHOLARSHIP OPEN WITH MY RESULTS? ANY IDEA ?
I ALLOW SO APPLIED FOR [UEM,TM, SWATCH,ASEAN]
PLEASE REPLY A SOON AS POSSIBLE.
sorry to hear that your applications got rejected. if got any news of other scholarships, i’ll post in the blog.
what options are still open?
is STPM A GOOD IDEa ?
what can i do with stpm than local U ?
which is the best stpm school in malaysia, Negeri sembilan, and melaka?
i heard shell schlarship does not ffer to spm leaver but i applied , siti true?
if i get UEM scholarship they will send me to kolej yayasan UEM ( kyuem)for A-level and then continue dgreein finance, is kyuem a good place?
sorry for disturbing with all these question, take your time to answer the question,
thank you
well, STPM is good if you plan to go for IPTA. other than that, you can also use it in local IPTS and some of the of the foreign universities who recognise STPM.
Best school – no idea. you have to ask around the people in those areas and see the results of top students to see where they come from.
Shell – spm leaver can apply too, if refer to the advertisement. deadline is 13th april now.
Well, the KYUEM is for foundation only. after that you for degree elsewhere. since getting scholarship, i won’t mind studying at KYUEM or any other place. Take it if you get it.
WITH STPM, DO WE HAVE BETTER CHANSE INTO SINGAPORE UNI?
HOW MANY STPM HOLDER ARE STUDYING IN SINGAPORE UNI?
WITH STPM, WHERE CAN CAN WE STUDY IN OVERSEA?
WHICH COUNTRY RECOGNISE STPM?
Well, STPM is recognised in singapore, so you can try applying. i’m not sure on how many STPM leavers are studying in Singapore, and i have no idea who keeps track of this stats.
Yes, can study in overseas, but which university – have to check with the particular universities.
i think i did not get tm schlarship. sir no more open scholarship?
maxis just opened.
i did not get shell scholarship, sir i am good student and my result is stated above (even thou it does not fully reflect my capacity)but most of the scholarship, a least did not call me for an interview.
why??
what options are open for me?
but i do not have the money
well, life is not always a smooth ride. You got 9 As, but as I told another student, those that get 6 – 10As are the ones who can sometimes be the “unlucky” ones. You find it very hard to get scholarships, and also “overqualified” for cert/diploma program in local uni because there’s so many students with 5As and less who go for such programs.
I’m sure you applied for local uni, so wait for that results. The other option is to do form 6 or enrol in private colleges. Now, contrary to what many students think, not all colleges have expensive fees. If you go for the “famous” and “happening” types like Inti, Metropolitan, Nilai, Sunway, Taylors, KDU, LKW etc, of course its expensive. But there are equally good choices in other places like SEGI, UTAR, TAR college, UNISEL, UniKL, UNITAR, KLIUC and so on.
You can still try for scholarship after enrolling in colleges. Worst case, there’s PTPTN loan as well. If you are Selangorian or Perakian, the state governments also can offer loans.
i am going for s tpm, but do not know to which school. iam for negeri sembilan just shifted from melaka
moreover i had problem entering your site , the date of your site is always
13/3/2009
STPM intake will be announced via MOE website. i think results will be out by next week. you can check there. if the school listed as in malacca, the you have to request for change to NS because you just shifted there.
The blog is updated daily, but the FIRST post is fixed to be the “What to do after STPM” title. That article is dated March 9 2009. The second and third articles will be newer as its not related to education help.
I also manually write when the FIRST article is updated. refer below:
“NOTE THAT THIS POSTING WILL BE CONTINUALLY UPDATED UNTIL END OF MAY 2009. THOSE WHO CAN ADD RELEVANT INFO, PLEASE INFORM ASAP.
Updated: 9.15am 22/4/2009 -”
That means i last updated it on 22nd april, even though the article date shows 9 march.
thank you ,
your informations are appreciated
sir , i am going to take green technology, asi did not get the uem schalorshipinfinance through, some engineering but i do not know whether chemical, mechanical or other engineering
what do you mean? you got scholarship for engineering, but not going to take it? what course is “green technology?
no, going for stpm to take engineering
oh, ok. all the best.
now i,am reading stpm at smk st paul ,negerisembilan.
Hi Sir,
First of all i would like to thank for ur kindness in providing such usefull infomation for student like us.
I want to ask ur opininio regarding my further studies sir. Im a student in final sem(internship) at UniKL MICET (taking diploma chemical engineering technology bioprocess). It will be over end of this april. Im confuse whether want to continue back my studies at MICET for Bachelor in Biosystem technology (july 2009 intake)or just proceed with career life. I also got some financial problem because i have pending tuition fees of RM10,000 with micet. Currently im in the process of applying for some of the scholarship from your aids for my bachelor study. As an info my spm result was 6A4B and current cgpa is 3.23. Appreciate if u advice me on what to do next sir.
Thank You,
RanithaMathialagan
well, job market is a bit down now, so i may be difficult to get job. however your results are good (3-pointer above), so you have better chance of landing a job provided do well in interview. it will be excellent if you can push it higher via your final sem, but since its internship, i think no marks, right?
i think its good to talk to your parents/siblings as well. if they can support you for repaying the tuition fees, then perhaps better to further study. or if you feel want to settle the financial burden, then go to work. remember that learning is lifelong. always keep reminding that you will do your degree/masters while you go to work. many people work after diploma and study part-time.
another option is to postpone your bachelor study for a sem, see if you can apply to join in next intake (if they have one). in that way, you can spend some time applying for job. who knows, if you get a good company?
dear sir…i m very gratefull for the information,it does help…really.
however, i have a friend who did not very excellent in her SPM,she gets about 6As(if i m not mistakened)…well,i wish to help her by getting some information on scholarships including those offered by the colleges and private universities..she wish to study designing..is there any relevent scholarships offered?…if there are, will you pls send it to me via my email add:
tzexin1991@hotmail.com
i’ll be ‘double’ gratefull if you can help me with this…thank you
p/s:i m going for the jpa interview this coming thursday…will you wish me luck?…hehe^^
GOOD LUCK FOR ALL OF THE CANDIDATES GOING FOR THE JPA INTERVIEW^^
all the best! remember, get or don’t get, life goes on. God knows best, our job is to do our best.
as for your friend, design – meaning interior design or fashion design? some design colleges are like IACT and LKW. scholarships, so far i havent heard specifically on design courses.
thx…
she prefer interior design.i can’t find any scholarship specificallyon design courses though…anyway, your reply did rang me a bell..mayb i should go over some colleges or uni that offer this course and seek for scholarship…u know, study in LKW is not cheap..
after all, thank you.
btw,i have done my interview..and it was quite ok..i think lar ^^
specific scholarship in design is hard to find. as you mentioned, better to visit the colleges that provide design courses and give a try. most will ask you to enrol first before applying for scholarship. LKW is very expensive, probably not worth the money. and you better ask around many many times before enrolling over there.
hi sir,
i got 2A1(BM & SEJARAH) 1A2(AGAMA ISLAM) 2B3(EST & MATH) 2B4(FZK & CHEM) 3C5 (BIO, BI AND ADD MATH)
i received offer from UNITEN for Foundation is Computer Science.
for MMU i received offer in Diploma in Information Technology.
what is your advice to me?
UNITEN for Foundation is Computer Science is too expensive, 53k.
-some people say too many people taking IT and some of them are jobless after grad.
53K for just foundation program is ridiculous. i think 53K is for the whole degree program. pls recheck.
MMU’s diploma means you have to apply for degree after finishing the diploma. you can do it in MMU or other uni.
UNITEN foundation means if you pass it, can proceed into degree in UNITEN.
IT jobs are a lot as well, but mainly in callcenter/BPO services. also in multimedia/graphics, networking, etc.
many graduates, but how many are good students? how many have excellent results or learn properly in college/uni? if you barely pass subjects, who will offer you jobs?
secondly, what you learn in the course is very important. must be relevant to industry and future. not just theory, but useful subjects.
sir i wan 2 study 4 chemical engineering….can i apply 4 gamuda scholarship?
well, if you were gamuda, would you accept the application? probably no, right? i mentioned specifically civil, mechanical, electrical, and environmental). but, you could apply for environmental.
i say, just give it a try. you can attach your reasons for applying – maybe it may interest the committee to call you for interview.
thank you for your advice sir!!!!!!!!!!! hope i will get a scholarships that will bring a bright future to me………… anyway, thank you very much sir!!!!!!!
Sir,
How 2 apply 4 MCEF scholarship?thx…
HAI SIR.H R U?IM A STPM LEAVER OF 2008.I HAD OBTAINED
2A-(BM n P.P) AND 1B(P.A)AND C+(SEJ)..HWS THE CHANCES TO GET PENDIDIKAN KHAS COURSE IN USM? N TESOL IN UM? N HW BOUT CHANCES IN GETING SCHOLARSHIP,SIR?PLZ DO HELP METQ.
Hi, about the chances, first depends on the cut-off marks. that’s the rough indicator. second, depends on how many people applying for it. so, quite hard to say. scholarship – can give a try. most ask for 3As and above. but also depends on the field of study. since you are looking at pendidikan khas, may be easier to get funding. not sure about TESOL.
sir, i got 5a1, 3a2-bio,kim,fiz 2b4-eng,admaths, can i get matriculation programme, n my ambition 2 b chemical eng…am i qualified 2 get shell scholarship?
you have total 8As. a bit hard, but can give a try. don’t put all your choices as chem engineering. shell scholarship, well, have to try and pray hard.
hello sir!! im a student wit 10As in spm…7A1 3A2….applied 4 jpa medicine…went thru d interview quite well i guess… 😛 According to d news and mass media, dis yr indians r gettin more jpa scholarships…plus we were told to send a letter to d human resource ministry (YB SUBRA) to inform about our application…wt is d main purpose of sending this letter actually??? They will help us in gettin dis scholarship izit???
– confused and worried 🙁 –
hi,
congrats on the interview. i hope you get a place for medic. i actually saw few students undergoing the program pendedahan in Klang GH last week.
anyway, back to your question, the reason why MIC is collecting the data is to tabulate figures on number of applicants and their status – successful or not. if in the case your application is unsuccessful, you approach MIC and they will appeal on your behalf (if the reasons are good enough). so, its like a second channel.
sir….
can spm leaver apply 4 gamuda scholarship?
nope. need to have stpm/a-levels results.
hi, i just finished my jpa interview on the 2nd of april. i would like to share my experience with those students who have yet to attend the interview. here are some reminders. First of all, be careful when u answer the questions posed. The interviewer asked my group whether we will come back to malaysia after graduating from overseas. To my surprise one of them said that she will not come back to malaysia and will work in some foreign country, earn lots of money and payback jpa! Seriously that was a big mistake as u should realise that in the first place they are sponsoring u to study so that u will comeback and work 4 them. the others said that they will work in foreign countries 4 a few years and comeback to malaysia with experience n then work with the government. This is also a weak answer as the interviewer will not be pleased with u. In fact after we all answered, one of the interviewer said that if we are not going to comeback, than it would be better to sponsor someone else who would be wiling to work with the government! Luckily my answer was, yes i will come as i am indebted 2 the malaysia taxpayers and jpa, so i should comeback and show my gratitude. Next, dress up well. wear a tie 4 the boys and also long sleeve shirt. i saw a boy who did not wear a tie and did not even tuck in his shirt. his hai was rather clumsy and i am sure the interviewer will not consider hm 4 the scholarship. also, please shave. And dun forget that actually the interview is very relaxed and after a few minutes into the interview, u will not feel tensed up at all as the interviewers were friendly and not strict. The topic 4 my group discussion was, how will the government gain by sending students to study overseas than in local universities? During the discussion be a good team player, do not sit quietly and expect your members to give all the points. u must speak and participate during the discussion as the interviewers will be watching u. And after u finish discussing u will be asked to present ur ideas and if the interviewer asks who would like to start first, pls politely raise ur hand volunteer if u like to be the first to speak. in fact the interviewers will be pleased if u volunteer as it shows u are confident. Lastly, do not feel nervous as the interview will be fun. there will be students from all over the country, so use the opportunity to make friends with them and get their contact no or e-mail address as u will be able to build a good social network. as for me i think i did not well in the interview and i wish all the best to those who will b attending it soon. Here are some topics for group discussion given to other groups:
human capital(modal insan)
mt and sn in english
Good luck!
hi,
thank you for sharing your experience. i’m as surprised as you are. how can top scorers be so naive and answer that they won’t come back to work?
dressing is also important. guys don’t wear jewellery, no long hair or messy look. wear tie, socks, shirt tucked in. really, i can’t believe so-called cream of the crop are taking this chance of a lifetime so easily!
HI SIR.I’M YOGES FROM N.S N I GOT 3A1 IN SEJ,ADD.MATHS,MATHS 2A2 IN PHY N CHEM 5B3 IN THE OTHER SUBJECTS.I APPLIED 4 UTM 4 MECHANICAL COURSE.SO ON UR POINT OF VIEW DO I STAND A CHANCE TO ENTER UTM.IF NOT WAT THE BEST TAT I CAN DO?I ALSO OFFERED BY UNITEN,IS UNITEN GOOD OR NOT N COULD I SECURE MY FUTURE BY STUDYING IN UNITEN?REPLY……….

Juz wana ask point of view frm sir………..?
10q sir…
well, check the MQA approval for the program. visit KLMU (what is that? ) and see the facilities (lab, library, etc). go another day and talk to the students and lecturers. check out the syllabus. see if the subjects are relevant to industry. since you have your cousin, refer to him.
did you apply to other colleges as well?
sir, may i know the purpose of sending my jpa app to MIC HQ.
Do you think they’ll help to secure a place?
TQ.
they can help in the appeal process if you didn’t get the scholarship.
SMKGHAFAR BABA
hello sir…i gt 6a’s in bm,maths, moral, add math, chemistry,bt and B’s in bio, physic, sejarah,bi,est.i wanted to do pharmcy…i hd applied 4 matriculation and some local universities…if i dun gt any of that which is possible 4 me to do ???stpm or A level…which is a better choice, sir???thanks
try foundation/diploma in pharmacy in private college and continue degree. since you already interested in pharmacy, then doing STPM means taking a risk in applying for uni 2 years later. you must get 3A at least in STPM. same case with a-levels, since you already aim for pharmacy, why not do the foundation/diploma.
Hi sir!
I want to ask about the application form for Shell Scholarship 2009/2010. Unfortunately, I cannot apply because it is mentioned that only students who are currently pursuing undergradate studies can apply for the scholarship. Is this true? I have just finished my SPM 2008 and achieved 11A1’s and 1A2.
Please reply.Thank you.
i think you can apply with proof that already applied for uni. when uni result comes out, you submit it.
hello again sir!! ive a question here sir…indians wit straight As ( not straight A1s)…do they hve a brighter chance to get matriculation? This is becoz ive a fren who got 10A1 and 1A2 who did not get matriculation…Why does this happen sir???
-confused again- 🙁
well, it depends on the matriculation type one chooses. maybe she applied for JPA scholarship but didn’t pass the interview. or sometimes, its the quota thing.
Dear Sir..
Kolej universiti metropolitan(klmu) …yupz sir the program was approval by MQA..then they provides good facilities as well such as hostel , library.and so on…i all edy walk in to their branches of klmu and talk to their counselor as well..
i gt tawaran frm a few ipts which carry out variety of program such as pharmacy, electronic eng on etc…bt im more interested on this field…
i would to choose this ipts because they hv their own program in deg level(ccsp). this progarm ensure guarantess employment in pro fields as well fnsh the ccsp (deg) program……..and their focus on both way as we get hands on what we sdyng on the software factory….n etc…
if sir feel free pls visit this website and give me some usefull infomation .
http://www.klmu.edu.my…
thx alot sir..
klmu was cosmopoint before. not sure how well they have improved. i’ll be careful on the “guarantees employment” thing. usually there’s some hidden terms and conditions. perhaps readers of the blog can give some input as well. or try asking around for ex-students’ opinion.
hi sir
i got 12 As in spm …11A1 n 1A2 in moral n A1 for gceo. i applied the jpa n hv gone through the prg pendedahan kerjaya n the interview. i did quite well in interview i guess. i too applied matric and upu. besides i applied yayasan sime darby scholarship. i was shocked when i received mail from sime darby that i am not shortlisted. actuall i too hv good koko records. i hv taken part in national day performance n zone level competitions. in school i am quite active in the clubs. so i just cant understand why is it so. i just thought to share this with the ppl out there. anyway this website is great n i wish all th best to our indian students….nothing is impossible.
hi,
thanks for sharing. i can only guess the reasons for not being shortlisted:
– there are better students that you for the field you applied for or in general
– they know you applied for other scholarship and shortlisted
– quota
sir,
i’ve got 4a1(english,sejarah,maths,bio) 2a2(physics,bm) 3b3(admaths,moral,chemistry).. i’m realy interested in doing medcine… i cant afford 2 do private+my dad is a disabled… wat should i do???
hi harvind,
1. go seek the politicians. this is where they come in handy. try mic, gerakan, ppp, etc.
2. if your father had SOCSO, then apply for their loan. in this way, you can study in private uni.
3. you can give a try for STPM.
those interested to help will require proof – income status, number of dependents etc.
dear sir,
i scored 7A1s, 1A2 in my biology ,2b3s(est and addmaths) and an A1 in GCE-O in my SPM 2008. i applied for jpa scholarship but was not even called fr the interview( i applied fr engineering)
is it because i scored a b3 in my addmaths?
and i applied for UNITEN and UTAR and USCI.
is UTAR a good university?
also applied fr petronas university but wasnt shortlisted fr the EDUCAMP.
y do i feel like my options are closing up? is there really a place fr indians like us to study?
hi,
you fall in the category of students that are not so lucky- the ones that get 6-10 As. this group of students, especially the indians and chinese have practically nil chance of getting scholarships. you have to get straight A1s or more than 10As for most cases.
UTAR and UNITEN is ok. I’m not sure with UCSI.
well, there’s nearly half a million school leavers, but only about 100k plus places to study is available. if you are lucky, you get local uni. if not, the option is private colleges or STPM.
do finance have good future prospect? ussually fresh grads works as financal analyst, but what will they be doing after they obtain experiences ? they can’t just be financal analyst forever. what else could they do with their degree in finance?
i asked this question because i would like to know more about finance and help me make my mind if i get uem scholarship which was one of the options they gave tochoose . Even thou i would like to pursue ‘green technology’ AKA chemical engineering.
but i also like to now more on stock investment through finance
Please give me more info on finance
yes it does. well not all grads work as analysts. degree in finance means later can work in areas like taxation, corporate finance, financial compliance, banking, investment, marketing, islamic banking, mergers, audit, risk management etc. you can venture into professional qualification like those unit trust agents – CFP (certified financial planners) also. of course there’s work in research, lecturing too.
you can find job in MNCs, banks, and basically can try for jobs all around the world.
what is MNC? can i be a ceo with degree in finance?
MNC – multinational companies. companies that operate globally with branches in many country. example – hsbc, sony, intel, shell, phillips, bmw, stanchart, citibank, etc.
well to be CEO, your basic degree doesn’t matter. in fact, academic qualification is not the critical factor to be a CEO. CEO means head of the company. i can go to suruhanjaya syarikat malaysia, register a company and call myself CEO! you can be one too as long as fulfill the age limit (above 21) to open a company.
CEO means having lots of experience in addition to the qualification (academic and professional). Lim Goh Tong can’t even read and write, yet he was head of Genting Berhad! Bill Gates did not complete his studies before opening Microsoft. Our PM is degree holder in industrial economy, yet is CEO of Malaysia.
try searching for CEO of big companies and see their qualifications. at times, its not even related to the business they are heading now.
what is the differents between finance, and actuarial science?
what is the diferents between financea and economy?
what does economy degree holder do?
well, i’m not the expert on those areas. but i think actuarial science is more towards maths, statistical modelling and so on. finance is more to monetary issues. economy studies related to economy theories, trading, macro-economics, micro-economics etc. all three will have inter-relationship. and of course, for finance and economics, there’s majoring too.
economist. some of the economist i know work with data related to national trade – they do analysis and reporting, try relate with international data. do trade projection etc.
hie,
well first of all congratulations on da wonderful work u r doing for the indians…i did my spm year 2006 had straght a’s 7A1 and 2A2 but din get any offer from da local uni or matriculation its really frustrating u knoe….so currently im doing my medical sci degree in MSU… about to complete my degree prog soon wif current cgpa 3.73…… my coll is offering twinning prog in medicine either in india or indonesia for 3 n a ahalf years for 350 k….so i would like to know if there is any scholarship provided for post graduate students as the tuition fees is way beyond my capability. i went to for a seminar in UM and i was told that i can skip masters and straight away cont phd if my cgpa above 3.70…do u think it is a better idea….than u for ur time very much appreciated
hi mohana, great to hear your results. well done. even though didn’t get place in IPTA, you managed to continue studies.
well, need to check if doing medicine is considered as post-graduate studies, coz i don’t think so. if it can be considered as post-grad, then you look for scholarship from khazanah nasional, maxis, etc. for that, i won’t post in the blog but in UMIC/MIClub forums as well as in MindBB.
the idea of directly doing PhD is dependent on the uni. they will ask you to enrol in Masters first, and after one/two sem (depending on performance) may “convert” the study to PhD. again, depends on case to case basis.
hello sir,
i wants to apply for airasia airline pilot but before that can i know what is blog posting?? what should i write??
blog posting means you have to write an article and put into their blog. there’s few example of the winners in the airasia blog itself. refer there.
hello sir… i got 8 A1 2 A2 n 1 B4 in SPM.. i didn’t applied for metriculation and IPTA(i lost the pin number n didn’t know can buy again).. i have applied for JPA scolarship but didn’t get… I am currently doing FOUNDATION IN SCIENCE(JAN 2009 – JULY 2009)…. Planning to do DEGREE IN MEDICINE.. I was not aware of the other scolarship like PETRONAS til today… So, I am just curious whether is there any chances for me to apply any scolarship because it seems like all scolarship are already closed for application….
hi soba, we were afraid to hear cases like yours. we try to avoid such situations, but looks like failed. well, no point crying over spilt milk. scholarships have deadlines and no point applying after the closing date. you just have to wait for future scholarship advertisements.
since you are targetting medicine, then pls proceed with the foundaition. where are you doing it?
Since you got 10As, most colleges will offer scholarship in terms of fee waiver, so can also consider that.
Yes,sir.. I do agree with you…. Well, i am doing the foundation in SEGi COLLEGE… they are offering some rebates… But, I am actualy needing financial aids for my degree program… I am planning to do my degree in INDONESIA… I was thinking of applying for JPA loan… But then i will have to work for gov for 10 years…. where I think I wont have the chance to further my studies during that period… And is it possible for me to apply for JPA scolarship dalam negara??
i think even while under bond, you can further studies.
as for JPA scholarship for dlm negara, you can apply if got a place in selected uni, like AIMST. definitely can’t if you are planning to study in indonesia. then, can only apply for the loan.
sir.. sorry for troubling you… but can i know whether the jpa scholar is 4 private uni or gov uni…?? actualy i planned to go to indon.. but if i get any scholar, i wil switch it then.. 10q very much…
jpa overseas scholar is for private uni. for the local one is for IPTA plus 3 private uni – mmu, uniten, and UTP.
oops.. i think i got the answer already from your reply to sweetpee below here… i have only 1 question… since i didn’t apply for ipta… does that means i cant apply for jpa scholar dlm negara?? 10q very much sir for lending your time to reply my msg…
hmmm. i don’t think so. unless you applied for MMU, UNITEN or UTP.
and I just took SPM in 2008… born in 1991….
omg!!! are we d nt so lucky ones????? 6-10As scorers i mean….i gt 10As too…
n applied JPA(medic), matrik n UPU….so cant i gt any of d things ive applied ???
-very worried-
hahaha…relax. the competition is tough, so chances a bit low for those in the 6-10 As bracket. but low doesn’t mean won’t get. it depends on combination of results, course applied, number of applicants, student profile, etc. if you don’t get one, possible that you get another – maybe UPU.
hello sir…
*Regarding the JPA scholarship 4 dalam negara, can we apply it after completing our a-levels? Does it actually require good a-levels results? Are they giving full scholarship (JPA) 4 us to pursue our studies locally in a private uni? Isnt d local JPA scholarship offered 4 SPM leavers?
*wat is the total amount of loan are offered by PTPN for medical studies locally (private) and oversea roughly?
*Thxx a lot for your contribution towards the success of of our Indian community education wise. We really appreciate it a lot. Nothing is impossible for us. 🙂
from my understanding, the JPA scholarship for dalam negara is for those who get place in the IPTA plus UNITEN, MMU, and UTP. That means, must be first year student only. That means, if you are entering MMU/UTP/UNITEN after A-levels, then you can give a try. Its open to first year students doing diploma or degree, regardless of entry qualification, so open to SPM/STPM/diploma/foundation/matriculation leavers. But it didn’t specify A-levels. Using the given guidelines, one need to get 3.30 CGPA or 4Bs in STPM. Refer:
http://www.jpa.gov.my/perkhidmatan-teras/latihantajaan/program-ijazah-diploma-dalam-negara/
For PTPTN loan, amount is about 30K per year. Refer to :
http://www.ptptn.gov.my/c/portal/layout?p_l_id=PUB.1.22 (PDF file)
And i think the maximum limit is RM65k throughout the studies.
hello sir
i applied for yayasan tm scholarship and i was called for the interview.
It would be on this Wednesday, 15th April 2009 in the evening.
I wonder what would the interview be like because as far as I know last year, it was a camp-interview. But for this year, yayasan does not say anything about camping.
What would they ask during the interview and how do they elect the future-scholars?
I am really interested to know about it and I hope that you know the answers.
Thank You Sir.
Hi,
I couldn’t find any info on the interview style this time. Better you clarify with TM. Last year was 4 days camp i think.
As for the selection criteria, the common things in interview applies here as well:
– your background (talk about family, education, achievement, hobbies n interests)
– what career and plans you have. why the particular course/program
– why you should be chosen
– confidence and attitude
– language and communication skill
– knowledge on current topics and ability to form opinion.
All the best!
yesterday i check adi for the medsi test,a test tat sat by students who choosing the courses tat ned to be interview.last time i choose UPSI in course of education in maths.i failed to sit for his test.Sir,if i want to make ‘rayuan’ for sitting the medsi test, wat website should i enter??????
hmm…i’m not sure about this “rayuan” process. are you saying that you forgot to go for the test?
MEDSI website is:
http://www.mpm.edu.my
No.i’m saying i do not have any chance sitting for this test.is tat maybe my cgpa is 3.42, not high enough???
you mean, you were not selected for the test? if your choice was for education degree and not shortlisted for MEDSI, that means not successful. i’m not sure about the rayuan process. have to go thru UPU or maybe UPSI itself. HOWEVER, since you have many choices in the UPU form, i think you have to wait until final result come out. if didn’t get any course at all, then you can do the rayuan.
dear sir,
i got 8a1 and 2a2 in my spm..im currently doing a engineering course in local college, but my dream is to be a pilot.do you anywhere i can get scolarship or loan to pursue my dream?
air asia is offering place for pilot study. refer to the “applications” page. also, visit http://www.dca.gov.my for list of pilot schools/flying clubs. i’m not sure of any scholarship for pilot course, unless offered by those airline companies.
Hello Sir Poobalan..
i watched vizhuthukal n i managed 2 get some infos despite d fact dat i dun understand tamil very well. I’m SPM 2007 leaver with 10As( 8A1, 2A2 ).. i’ve always wanted 2 become a doctor ever since my school days so my parents had surveyed alot about Medical courses in local n private.. so after i’ve cmpleted my spm, i ddnt wait any longer and stepped into AIMST University for foundation in Science with the hope i will score well n sit 4 the entrance test 2 Indonesia’s top uni Universitas Gadjahmada ( d fact dat my parents r looking 4 a med college dat affordable).. My parents r gov servant with monthly income 4 both altogether is below Rm4000. I was very worried wen my parents asked me 2 take foundation course. i scared they wont b able 2 afford 2 send me 2 Indon (about RM200k).. family’s support, i went in January2008 b4 spm result was out..on April, i apllied 2 JPA PILN n went 4 d prog pendedahan kerjaya then, interview..i aslo tried MOE’s Teaching course sclorship 4 Chemisrty subj in UK..i ddnt get it.. i applied 2 matriculation..ddnt get it.. nex i did rayuan 4 matric..still ddnt get it..so i cntinued in aimst.. somewher on August, my luck i got JPA Sclorship ( Calon Tambahan) 4 AIMST univ.it wasnt that bad tho coz we received 8mths Scholarship for our 1st Sem n 2nd sem..i completed foundation on Dec2008 n receive my result on Feb ( Thank God, i qualified 4 medical course wit cgpa 3.5)
Now the problem is, JPA told me that not all student will get sclorship 4 degree.. they will only choose the best.. since im nt assured wit a sclrship, my parents told me 2 sit 4 d entrance exam 2 Indon Uni on coming June.. I actualy wud wnt 2 go 2 AIMST 4 my MBBS course but PTPTN loan onli giv 150k.. JPA however will onli tell me about d sholarshp continuation on July 2009..
Im confused now on wheter i should follow my parents’ plan n go 2 Indon or wheter i shud go 2 AIMST nwith PTPTN loan.. My father is goin 2 retire in 2 years time n im nt sure whetr he could bare d cost 4 sending me 2 either place! Is ther any sclrship besides JPA dat i can apply 2 continue my studies in AIMST University? Please help me..
at the same time, Im hoping 4 a good news from JPA (July) 2 continue d sclorship. But i still hav 2 think of an alternative way if in case i dont get JPA
Much appreciated, Thank You very much
-Daarshini Nair, Johor-
Hi Daarshini,
You have good results, so congrats to you.
Looking at the choices, I also think that you should go for the entrance exam in June. Take it first, later decide if get a place in Gajahmada. This is considered as backup plan.
JPA scholarship for AIMST is of course limited, not everyone will get it. Try to talk to people in AIMST for more scholarship/loan providers – MIED for example. Pls note that MCEF will give loan for final year students, so there’s a chance in final year.
Secondly, JPA offers loan for students in second year in overseas universities, so you can apply for it if you are in indonesia. Again, no guarantees that you will get.
In the end, there’s no guarantee that you will get scholarships, regardless studying in local or overseas. Other options is to take bank loan to cover some part of the fees. Perhaps by you studying in indonesia, your parents can find it more affordable/manageable than in AIMST.
sir, i want to know whether those who got matriculation have a chance to get jpa also or does the matrix shows that they are not chosen 4 jpa…
i think JPA scholarship results will be out in third week of May. but its not related to matriculation intake.
hello…sir may knw more bout malaysian community and education( MCEF)
i don’t know much about them. they offer financial assistance for education. you have to call them or visit them to get more details on that. They also support community projects. MCEF is funded by Tan Sri Ananda Krishnan (Maxis).
i am a student who is doing I.T at vaal University of technology looking for a bursary sponsorship. I’m willing to have what ever you offer as i just am studying I.T to end up working at your company.
Sorry, I’m not hiring people.
Dear sir, i am going to pursue foundation in science course in aimst university. Later, i decide to do degree in pharmacy but they said i need a min req. of B4 in bio coz i got c6 so, they are tellin’ me to resit da paper.Meanwhile, i was thinking of doing dip in pharmacy so dat i dun hav to resit da paper.I juz 1 2 ask ur opinion on whether i shud do foundation or diploma. Can’t i use my foundation results to do degree later??If my foundation results are eligible for the degree programme, dun tell me they still want to c ma spm results??Then watz da benefit of doing foundation wen they are still going to c ma spm results??
The requirement for B4 is considered a rule by many colleges. Basically, if you got C6 in Bio, then need to think carefully if you are able to handle the subjects in pharmacy course.
usually in private colleges, teh foundation results are accepted to continue with degree, unless for certain courses the requirements ask to check with SPM results as well. from what i see in their website, if you get minimum 3 B (including Chemistry) with CGPA 3.00 above for foundation, you can do pharmacy. Best way is to clarify with AIMST. you can also compare with other colleges that offer pharmacy course.
the choice of doing diploma or foundation depends on the qualification, fees, and duration. Firstly, qualification – foundation will have higher requirement that diploma. if have minimum 5 credits, one can do diploma. second is fees – sometimes the cost for (foundation + degree) is more expensive than (diploma+degree). so, you have to calculate that as well. thirdly, duration – diploma is 2.5 years and usually get entry in two second year of degree program, so total will be (2.5 +3 = 5.5 years). foundation is one year and degree is four years, so total is 5 years.
Hello sir,
It’s great that i’ve found ur website. I was browsing through MINDBlog…and now, kinda blur of how i ended up here but feeling ‘thank God!’.
I’m a STPM leaver with a 2.83 cgpa. I applied for B.A in English as my first choice in UM as i thought that was the wisest decision based on my result. I got band 5 in MUET and i also took Literature in English in my SPM,also my GCEO in SPM was A1. So, bearing all this in my mind, i applied for the courses that i figured would favour me the most. My second choice was tesl in UPM, which I believe i failed to get because i was not called for the MEDSI test required.
In the meantime, I applied for The Star’s scholarship to do Masscom in INTI-UC and to my surprise i got it! The interviewer told me that i was selected because of my heavy co-curiculum activities and the way i carried myself in the interview.
The dilemma now is that i’m confused whether i should take up this offer or turn it down and wait for the University results to come out which is somewhere late in june. The enrolment in INTI-UC has started and i’m suppose to register by now, in which i havent done so because i’m terribly confused.
I’ve always dreamt of entering UM and if i do get to enter UM and later turn it down,i’d feel guilty because the sit would not go to a fellow indian! I hail from a huge SMC family and thus,i do wish to contribute back to my community
I’ve always wanted to do masscom and here i am given a free ride on education to do so in INTI-UC but i’m confused. I even choose B.A in Eng (UM) because i believed i could pursue my dreams of becoming a Journalist or an educator. Pls sir, i badly need your take on this! Thanks.
The
Hi,
that’s a tough decision to make, but its far better than what many other students will get 🙂 UM or INTI. English or MassCom. Before we go into seats for Indians and all, let’s look at basic things first:
2. Your interest is either journalism or education. So, both BA Eng will be giving wider option. If you plan to teach in government school, you will need KPLI which is extra one year program (and need to apply). So, you may need to rethink on where you plan to work – govt or private. school or commercial/business environment.
3. I think INTI program will finish faster than UM’s degree course. So, shorter time period.
4. Does the scholarship cover full course fees until degree completion? How about living expenses/allowances?
5. Waiting for something that may or may not materialise is not a good idea. You know about the bird, hand and bush story, right? 🙂 What if you don’t get the first choice for IPTA?
6. If you reject the INTI offer, do you think it will go to an Indian as well?
7. I’m not sure if UM still maintains its high standards nowadays. The rankings every year points otherwise. So, you may want to reconsider.
8. You can still contribute to SMC even if out of UM, but it will be long shot as you will be busy with classes.
My replies about seem to slant towards the scholarship offer. You may think it as being more selfish, but its being practical. No point crying over spilt milk if you don’t get the course you want in IPTA. Best is to take up the scholarship. If indeed you get BA Eng in UM and still interested, talk to your scholarship providers and maybe there is a way out later.
hi sir..
i got 7A’s n 4B’s in my recent SPM result..
but the sad part is i didnt get matrix, maktab perguruan n even IPTA..
my freinds who got bad results than me get mtrx n maktab perguruan..
im hoping tat i will get JPA.
wat should i do if i dont get?
i might not go 2 private..
do help me…
well, if you don’t get JPA as well, then the options left if you don’t plan for private is:
1. stpm
2. work
3. apply for IPTA/poli next year
SIR ,I DIDN’T GET ANY THING.NOT EVEN JPA SCHOLARSHIP OR MATRICULATION. I ‘M A SCIENCE STUDENT.I GOT 7A1,3A2(BIOLOGY,BAHASA MELAYU,EST
) AND 1B4(TAMIL).I REALLY WANTED TO DO MEDICINE.SO CAN YOU HELP ME SIR?
hi,
sorry to hear about your situation. as you know, competition is tough for JPA and matric. what you can do now is send an appeal for the JPA scholar (copy to MIC headquarters) and try for STPM. or go to private to do medicine.
so,do i have 2 send only the appeal letter to the mic headquarters?do i need to include my personal details also?once, i have send a letter to datuk devamani’s office.but theres no reply.
nope. appeal to JPA, but send a COPY to MIC HQ. the contact address is at my “scholarships” page. they will collect the statistics of rejected applicants and hopefully some of the rejected ones will get a place after some appeals from MIC.
when we will know the jpa’s appeal result?tanx u
not sure, but deadline to appeal is 18/5. maybe within a week or so.
Hi!
I got 12 A’s for SPM 2008 ( 9A1’s and 3 A2’s)
I applied for JPA scholarship for Actuarial Science major.
However, I did not receive the scholarship and I am very very disappointed with the government.
I was very active in school and even went till national level for Scrabble championship and also many other activities.
What more could the government ask for???
Is it not good enough?
Hi, 12As and no JPA scholarship? I thought this year all those with 12As and above will get it? Please send appeal and copy it to MIC.
As you know competition is tough for the scholarship. Until the selection process is made transparent, we will never know why student A is selected and student B is not. That means we claim its discrimination, bad luck, not good enough etc.
Thx !
I will definitely try to work things out with MIC and see how it goes.
did you go for jpa inteview at putrajaya?? Are you the boy that applying for acturial science but you was wrongly given engineering at the inteview??
dear sir
i got 10as (8a1 and 2a2) in my spm 2008 and i applied for medicine under JPA sadly i was turned down.
i was the single indian from my boarding school and i even was a diplomat for malaysia and thailand.
i did get offer from petronas to do business admin singapore but however they require me to do a-levels in KDu for arts stream before being flown to spore.
i am a science based student and i have no idea how to get trough accounting and those alevel subjects
matriks turned me down and i have appealed for JPA…
STPM and Private U is not an option..
pls help.
well, there’s no option for you. you not considering stpm and private uni, so left with nothing unless JPA appeal is successful. most of scholarship deadline are over.
sir, like many other indian applicants, i too did well for my spm. 10A1’S and one A2 for physics. I am also very active in kokurikulum. I applied for the JPA scholarship to do accounting overseas (i took accounts as an extra subject for spm) but i did not get the schoalrhsip. The fact that only an extremely small number of indian students landed the scholarship is indeed very saddening. So far the ones i have heard of scored 13a1’s. I really hope MIC looks into this matter and helps us get the schoalrship.
my question is, we werent asked to print out our application form in the process of applying for the psd scholarship and we cant print it out now either. What exactly should i submit to MIC to appeal for the schoalrship? pls help.
so far, i haven’t get any news from MIC or JPA regarding the successful applicants who are indians.
i listed the contact info for MIC in the “scholarship” page. call them and can get clearer picture. if i’m not mistaken, you can print the appeal page and submit together with an appeal letter stating the reasons why you qualify for scholarship.
last year, i think 60+ students got JPA but after begging for seats, ended up with nearly double the number.
okay thank you. the link im posting below also has relevant info about appealing for the psd scholarship through MCA. I dont knw if us indian students will be given consideration thru MCA, but its worth trying.

also, my plan if i dont get the scholarhsip if to pursue A levels and try fr a scholarship again later on with my results. But the only thing im worried about is that if i go for the july intake, i can only finish my A levels at the end of next year. Are A level scholarships available all year round? Or do i have to wait fr the middle of the following year to apply for scholarships?
scholarships are generally available during the announcement of results and also before or on start of semester. there are some scholarships that open for application in nov/dec, others in feb, april, may, june, sept.
My initial plan was to do a foundation course and then continue on to do my degree in Monash. But just a few weeks back, i decided to do a levels instead. This will give me a wider range of options later on and i may even get to go overseas. I would really like to pursue my studies overseas but can only do so if i get a scholarship. What are my chances of getting a full scholarship to pursue my degree overseas / local IPTS if i do well (3a’s/ 4a’s) in my a levels?
While my plan is to pursue a-levels, my dad is more keen on me doing a foundation course in UTAR and consequently a degree there. While i am sure of the field i want to study, I dont want to tie myself down and limit myself to UTAR only. I want to do a lvls so i’ll have a wider range of options. My dad is worried that i’m making the wrong decision. He is also worried that i may waste alot of time after my a levels waiting for scholarships.
I really hope i can have ur view on this matter. What shd i do?
scholarship for study in IPTS exists but then you have to wait till the next time its offered. another options is through the college itself which may links with scholarship providers. also, there’s Star EduFund which gets scholarship from various colleges in one place. chances are there, but of course need to have good results.
scholarship is a gift and not a right. so, not necessarily the top student will get it unless the rules say so. if you plan to do a-levels so that can get a scholarship, its bit risky. what if you don’t get it? a levels does give flexibility, so in that way, you will have time to change your plans.
reevaluate your “needs” and “wants”. you want to study overseas with scholarship given. that’s pretty much what many students also hope for. are you willing to spend some time waiting for funds or just want to finish studies as soon as possible? how long can parents support your studies if no scholarship is given?
i just want one more chance. i want to try for a scholarship again. if i dont get one, i wouldnt mind going to unitar. thanks alot fr ur help. appreciate it alot.
its good to have perseverance. i wish you all the best!
Hi,Sir.I have adi visit the Dermasiswa Pendidikan Negeri Perak website.there stated need to send a copy of Surat Tawaran Kemasukan TERKINI, salinan K/P dan Sijil lahir pelajar, ibu dan bapa, dan salinan Slip Gaji Bapa / Ibu / Penjaga and certified by Ketua Kampung /Penghulu Mukim / Pegawai Kerajaan Kelas A / Wakil Rakyat.since my living area there do not have ‘Ketua Kampung’ or ‘Penghulu mukim’.so i have to give all those documents to ‘Pegawai Kerajaan Kelas A’ to certify.Sir,can u tell me wat is the meaning of ‘Pegawai Kerajaan Kelas A’…which types of people can categorized as ‘Pegawai Kerajaan Kelas A’???Cn i take all the documents to school PRINCIPAL to certify???Sir,sorry for asking too much questions…in the websites didn’t stated need to send a copy of academic results(SPM ,STPM) and other extra-curricular activities achievements certificates,is tat a problem if i send oso these cert 2gether wif the documents tat needed???
Pegawai Kerajaan kumpulan A means those that are degree holders. usually, secondary school teachers are degree holders, including the HM – but you have to confirm with them first. other option is to go to pejabat daerah or majlis perbandaran etc to get officer to sign. officer means pegawai, not the support staff (kakitangan sokongan). Remember, kump A means bachelor degree holder.
i think you can send together even if they don’t ask. better to be safe than sorry.
Thanks for your info,sir.

Hi there!
I am just wondering with my result of Matriculation by 3.89 overall, what scholarships would be available for me? I am interested into civil engineering and architecture, i applied local Unis for the 2 mentioned courses.
I have applied gamuda and IGD. I know i have missed out Simedarby and HongLeong foundation. Any else to suggest?
Much much appreciated. and good job for the maintaining of this site. =)

hi,
at the moment, scholarships news is less. i’ll post anything that comes by in the blog. in the mean time, pls refer to newspapers and do search the net often.
since you applied for local uni, wait for the results as well – and of course one you enrol in IPTA, there will be notice on scholarships posted on the HEP offices.
applying for scholarships is neverending process, so have to keep an eye on media.
Hello Poobalan,
I have just completed matriculation program with a CGPA of 3.51. Recently, I have gained admissions to Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar in information systems major which is equivalent to IT. The university is considered to be one of the best since it is ranked number 21 in the world and it is considered as one of the new Ivy league by newsweek. With the high reputation that Carnegie Mellon has, you must know that the tuition fees is also very expensive. For 4 years of studying, it will cost for about RM600000 not including cost of living in Qatar.
Are there any scholarships out there that is suitable for me? I must say that a lot of the dead lines set by the organization that offers scholarship is really ridiculous. I just received my offer letter in mid April but a lot of the scholarships dead lines is in March. Plus, I noticed that a lot of the scholarships offered put SPM candidates as their priority. What about matriculation/A-level/STPM students? Do please tell me what scholarship is suitable for me and my situation that I have described in the first paragraph.
I have applied for Maxis scholarship last month but just to be on the save side, I wanted to know about other scholarships that are currently offering sponsorships for students like me.
Thank you Poobalan. Thanks in advance for your help.
Hi,
You are refering to govt matriculation or private college/uni matriculation?
anyway, getting in CMU is an achievement, so congrats to you.
The scholarship deadlines date appropriateness are subjective. there are so many intakes throughout the world, so its not possible to have never-ending deadlines. Generally, the scholarship providers in malaysia follow the SPM/STPM results announcement date rather than university intake dates.
as you mentioned, the focus for govt-based scholarships are for SPM leavers. and as you may have read in papers, there are calls to change this. in private sector, there are some that focus on STPM leavers, but most deadline are over. I’ll suggest that you look at CMU website for their list of financial aid advice.
