hi sir,
i finish my diploma in polytechnic wit the cgpa of 3.70.i applied for public uni twice bt nvr get. Now im doing my degree in mechatronics in UTAR,this year is my first year. i hv been given jpa scholarship when i was doing my diploma. Can i apply for this scholarship again for my degree nw and what other scholarships options i hv,which i have higher chance of getting it??
thank u for your time sir
Hi Harvin,
JPA scholarship is for spm leavers only. if you are doing your degree now, i don’t think you can apply for the scholarship. you have to try for others. scholarship info will appear from time to time, so you have to keep an eye on websites and newspapers.
Hello sir.
I’m currently in my first year, first semester at Universiti Teknologi Petronas. I’m planning to apply for Petronas scholarship as 80% of the students here are Petronas scholars.
Beginning of this year, they have postponed our application for Petronas scholarship to June as they would like to consider our first semester result.
I’m quite worried of paying my tuition fees on my own as it is too expensive for this particular semester.I hope you can suggest me any foundation or any organization that could sponsor my fees for the first semester.
Thank you.
Hi Vilashini,
Have you approached your state government or yayasan? each state has its own Yayasan and state govt do offer loans/scholarships as well. it will be best to surf the website of your state govt.
other than that, you can try MCEF. Some big temples, koperasi (NESA etc) and clan associations (vanniyar sangam, for example) also offer help, but you need to contact them directly. There’s also AMMA foundation which offered scholarship last time. All this names can be googled.
sir….r u bc…y nvr reply
Hi again Harvin,
I have replied. Usually i reply within a day, sometimes it takes longer coz i do have other things to do. 🙂
yes….v al do…thanks anyway 4 ur reply….tc
Hi Sir,
I completed my diploma in technology park malaysia college with total CGPA 3.22. Im seriously looking at the Brunei Government scholar. What is the academic requirement to apply.Am i eligible to apply? Any scholarship that i can apply 4 my degree. Because as far as i am concern im in the border line.
Hi Vasanth,
The info is available in the links. the requirement says you should have A-levels qualifications. pls read the links given under the Brunei scholarship topic.
3.22 is still ok, provided you also have some strong extra curricular activities/achievements.
as for other scholarships, you have to keep looking from time to time.
@poobalan, Thank you for your reply sir.
hye sir,
im currently doing my diploma in gmi. im already in the 5th semester but till now i din get any loan 2 pay off my fees. this is my final year actually.. could you pls tell me where should i apply 4 my fees loan??
Hi Ambigai,
If its your final year, you can’t apply PTPTN. How about trying for MIED (6% interest) or MCEF? You can also approach your state government or Yayasan Negeri. Other than that, another option is Bank Loan.
hye sir,
thx 4 the reply…MCEF??how should i apply this loan??will they give full loan??i cant apply yayasan negeri cause my kolej is not listed in their kolej list..
Hi Ambigai,
Contact for MCEF is on the Scholarships page.
Hi Sir, I am Reena here. My brother is waiting for his SPM 2009. He is very interested in pursuing his studies in piloting or engineering. Can you please advice us on how to go about the enrolment and scholarship application.
Hi Reena,
For pilot course, bear in mind its not an academic program, but actually studying for a license (just like car license, but far more expensive). so, scholarship is very hard to come by, and mostly offered by airline companies only. other than that, parents take up loan. there are few recruitment companies in malaysia, but you should visit http://www.dca.gov.my which is the govt dept which can provide advice and guideline. they also have list of registered companies/flying academies etc.
as for engineering, your brother have to take a foundation or pre-u program before entering year 1 of degree for engineering. most colleges provide both pre-u (a-levels, CPU, SAM, etc) and foundation programs so that you can continue in the same college/degree. there are minimum requirements for studying engineering – usually foundation is at least 5 credits, while diploma is 3 credits.
Scholarship would depend on SPM results. some scholarships application do allow for using forecast result, but only during application. another route for engineering is via STPM. there are some scholarships listed in this page like Star Education Fund and so on. Others will be posted when available. you can also refer to other website with scholarship details as listed in “websites” page.
Hi Sir, I am Rina here and waiting for my SPM 2009 result. I’m very interested in pursuing my studies in Medicine or Nutrition Dietician, for your information also I already apply online for Matrikulasi and IPTA . I really hope to get seat in Matrikulasi but changes are slim because I’m Indian Muslim and not bumiputra. Can your please advice me any other optional or scholarship to apply.
Hi Rina,
Since you have applied for matrik and IPTA, next would be JPA scholarship – wait till SPM results are out. Other scholarships will be announced from time to time, so you have to keep an eye on the papers and internet.
other options – study in private for the courses you mentioned. you can apply for Star Education Fund, or if results are good, even the colleges/IPTS cam give good discounts for fees.
@poobalan, Thank you for your reply Sir… Appreciated all your good work.
Sir, i m a student who have just completed SPM. I have confirm my ambition which is becoming a pilot but i m blur its direction. May sir tell me what scholarship i can apply regarding to tis ambition? What qualification of being a pilot ? And lastly which college or U have such course ?
@jackie,
thx for u response for Reena. i think i gt some info from u response posted there….but any info u wana add on in order for me to understand more ? thx a lot if any. Sir i haven gt my SPM results yet..but may sir advise me anything u know by refering my trial results ?
BM-3B
BI-2A

MORAL-1A
Modern MATH-1A
Add MATH-1A
Phy-2A
Che-1A
Bio-2A
Chinese-6C
Thx sir for willing taking out u time to read my comment.
Hi Jackie,
You results are quite good since you have 8As. you can try for scholarships if the actual results are equal or better than this. if you get 10As then most colleges give scholarships or huge discount for the fees. JPA scholarship is a bit hard, but not impossible – can give a try as well.
@poobalan,
MAS AisAsia SIA do offer scholarship ? i got excited about this … cuz i heard some seniors said airlines ptptn din offer loan cuz study abroad … and less gov or college are offering such scholarship. And my family can’t afford for the fees(RM80,000 a year)after that, i only can change my ambition of being a pilot… Erm..then may i know wat is the qualification to apply scholarship/loan from such airline companies ? thx a lot sir…
Hi Jackie,
Yes, airlines like MAS, AA, SIA do offer scholarships but I haven’t heard the advertisement so far this year. It depends on their need and finance as well.
Qualification is similar to any other scholarships – good results in certain subjects, good health, pass some aptitude tests etc. Some may ask for STPM/A-Levels qualifications.
@poobalan,
thx a lot sir,…
may i know the locations about where the aptitude tests are taken ? more info about tis scholarship and the steps to apply it….thx
Jackie: the tests depends on the companies. May be in their training center or at their office or some neutral place like hotels etc.
Scholarships detail differ between airlines, and sometimes even change year after year. so, we can’t really say much until it is advertised. steps to apply is usually to download form, fill up and send back to company. not sure if there’s any online application this year.
and do note that not necessarily airlines will offer scholarship this year. it depends on them.
@poobalan,
thx sir for sharing a lot of info with me…u have solved my problem as well as my parents’ problem … ^.^
Hi Jackie,
Pilot study is not a degree program. its a process to acquire a license, just like car driving license. Its called CPL (commercial pilot license). So, you go to a flying academy or flying club to get the license. DCA (www.dca.gov.my) has the details on procedures etc., so you can refer there.
Scholarships are mostly via the airline companies since you will most likely end up working there. so, try the usual companies – MAS, AirAsia, SIA etc.
heloo sir,
im intending to pursue medicine an would lie to kow f te stardu fd is offerin s/ship or medic?when sw the list of d institutions it apeared 2 me da ey don’t..do they?

hi rvna,
Star Edu Fund doesn’t have any medicine degree providing colleges in its list, so i think the answer is no.
Petronas Scholarship http://www.petronas.com.my/education/petronas_sponsorship.aspx or you can try searching recom.org forum for loads on info.
for resume/cv, there’s many options:
try jobstreet, recom.org, malaysia-scholarship.com, yahoo.com, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Curriculum_vitae, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/R%C3%A9sum%C3%A9
for the last two, refer the external links.
sorry..text isint clear.
i meant’star edu fund’,, if they r offering s/ship 4 medic?
is there any scholarships for doctor studies…
Kuhan,
JPA, Petronas, MARA among others. keep an eye on the scholarship page for upcoming scholarships.
i did my stpm and got the result my cgpa is less than 2.0 , would i be able to get local university. I have no idea what to do , would you be able to help me out.
Hi Mary,
i think the answer is not possible to get IPTA. the minimum requirement is 2.00 cgpa. i think, based on your results, you have to continue in IPTS either in foundation or diploma level.
Hi,just 1 2 know bout d sunrise s/ship.
regarding d eligibility, there r 2 criteria stated..so is it 2 seperate criteria?..can we fall in just either one?
thnx.
rvna,
i think must fulfill both criteria. they didn’t write it clearly, so maybe its a bit confusing.
Hi, i need your help and advise..
i just got my stpm result, i done it badly, only got 2.9 out of 4. i was told it is very hard for me to get any good courses in local public uni and it’s better for me to apply private uni. i couldn’t really afford my study in private for critical subjects like health science subjects. my result is bad and my parent’s income almost rm4000, so automatically i won’t be eligible to apply scholarships. So i am stuck in nowhere, do not know where to go and how to do. please help me.
Hi Anne,
2.9 is still OK. but remember, you need to have minimum 3 Cs as well – 1 PA and 2 from other subjects. If you fulfill the requirements, then you can refer to stpmindians.blogspot.com or quansheng.org (this site is temporarily down for the moment) to check the cut-off marks guideline.
the “good” courses are of course harder to get, but try to apply for the lesser known IPTAs.
also, some scholarships put financial status as secondary. as long as results are excellent, students will stand a chance. besides, studying in IPTS can consider applying for PTPTN.
my advice – you mentioned health sciences courses. so, go to UPU site, see which IPTAs offer these courses, and check the cut-off marks from the two websites i gave above. from there, make your choice and apply. if you don’t get IPTA later, then can consider IPTS.
@poobalan,
thanks a lot for the website!
i got PA:A-, Math T:C+, Chem: B, Bio: B-
i am interested in dietetics, ‘oleokimia’, marine but my teacher told me it’s impossible for me to get it because they will choose students with about cgpa3.5 or above. So her advise is choose courses with low requirement and less popular uni. But in this case, the minimum requirement for dietetics in UPM is 3.00 for chemistry and A for bio in spm (i met both requirement) but for UDM (less popular uni) need total cgpa of 3.00 and at least B for both chem and bio (which i am not eligible).
So i am confused. i do not know how to apply! i choose less popular uni but their requirements are higher while if i choose those requirements that i’m able to meet those are normally UPM, UM. weird!
(my teacher replied: “don’t choose any health science courses, ‘oleokimia’ or marine – those are critical courses, for my result won’t be able to make myself a seat there” but i am interested in those. My teacher said this can’t apply, that can’t apply, i really have no idea what to apply then. pls help me!)
hi Anne,
its a difficult situation alright, and life’s about making tough decisions.
let’s refer to the source available which is the cut-off marks guideline at stpmindians.blogspot.com which is a GUIDELINE only. then, cross check with the courses available (use UPU website) that your marks (2.92). you need to practically go through hundreds of courses to short list those you can safely apply, having fulfilled all requirements, and within the cut-off range. it will take probably 2 full days of hard work to do that.
i admit that in some cases (like yours), can’t get the course you like due to competition in popular uni and higher syarat khas in other newer uni. so, what to do? be realistic:
1. look at private education – IPTS where you can choose your IPTS and you course to a certain extent.
2. change your interests to something that fits the various IPTA syarats.
or, be daring and just apply to IPTA based on nearest best-fit and keeping your fingers crossed.
are you referring to marine engineering? or marine studies?
in the end, your teacher, myself and others only can provide advice and opinion, the choice is still yours.
hi sir…may i knw hw to apply singapore uni ?
Is there any scolarship offer to study in sg? wat is the requirement?
if i borrow loan to study in sg, do i need to spend a lot for the tuition fees, accomodation……?
Hi XiNer,
you have to apply to each uni separately i think. i don’t know if they have a centralised system like UPU. you can refer to scholarship page, where there’s one from singapore govt itself. there may be other scholarships from time to time, that offers study course both locally or overseas.
obviously the cost of living is higher and coupled with exchange rate, it will be more expensive to live and study in singapore compared to malaysia.
Hi, i am a pure science student, currently waiting for my SPM result. Now i am still not sure of what career to be. I am quite interested in psychology but i scare if i study that it is not easy to get a job. I had visited the job street web, jobs for psychology are so rare. I found that accounting and finance had the most job vacancies.( I studied account as an extra subject in SPM). On the other hand, i like science and researches on it. So… I am really confused what career to be. =.= Hope you can give some suggestion. Thx.
Hi Jiun,
often given advice is that follow a career that interests you, as it is something you will be doing for a long part of your life (well, usually). but that also need to be checked against your skills and results. Psychology is having less vacancies because its a specialised field with few places where you can work. Finance/Accounts on the other hand is needed by every organisation, so naturally there’s more vacancies (but of course, more competition!)
most of the time, for specialised courses, students will learn about their industry and where they can work in future, after they have studied for some time. The college/uni may hire them, or they may join NGOs, government sector, schools, medical centres etc.
i can’t really decide for you on this. if you feel that you will be interested in psychology and don’t mind working anywhere, then go for it. if you are worried about getting jobs and prefer something stable, then go for the normal stuff like finance/accounts.
sir,
what course meant by Pengajian Kuantitatif?
Hi Kirt,
i’m not very sure, but i’ll say its related to maths/finance/accounting stuff – like statistics and calculations.
is there any scolarships for piloting?
Phillip,
Not at the moment. usually offered by airlines companies, so you can check their websites.
hai….anna…i just get my stpm result….im science stream(bio) student…my cgpa is 3.6….i wanna do medicine but sure cannot do locally…so have 2 try i private universities…just wanna knw am i eligible 2 get jpa scholarship…loan also can la….can u tell me bout loan or scholarship 2 do medicine….
Hi Siva,
JPA scholarship is for SPM leavers. Other scholarships depends on when its available. Petronas, MARA etc offer scholarship, you have to wait for the advertisement. As for loan, PTPTN offers certain amount only. There’s MCEF which offers after you have studied for certain years. JPA has a loan scheme but for overseas study.
I would like to know if I got 12 A+ will they consider 10 A+ only or 12 A+ for jpa or any other scholarship? i’m not taking any tamil subjects in additional.
i do not understand hw to fill in the application form (section B) of Kuok Foundation Berhad… i am a STPM leaver, waiting to enter local Uni….
Hi XiNer,
Section B – you need to enter details of the course you applied for (put in the first choice course you made in UPU application). expected start date: 4 july 2010, and expected end date is four years later. for fees, you need to check the uni website. other costs like accommodation, food etc : just estimate it. finally, put the value of how much you expect from kuok foundation. remember this:
For students in Malaysian Public Universities
The value of each award will be:
a.
RM10,000/- p.a. for Medicine / Dentistry / Veterinary Medicine
b. RM9,000/- p.a. for Science based courses
c. RM8,000/- p.a. for Arts based courses
Hi sir. I just wanted to thank you for taking time to post the scholarships available on this site. you’ve been a great help. thanks.
hi sir..
firstly.. i would like to applaud you for taking the effort to post all these up. it is so kind and helpful of you.thank you so much.
secondly, i would like to ask if there is any type of loan that i can take to study overseas besides JPA and BNM scholarship. is PTPTN loan applicable for overseas studies?
Im looking forward for your positive reply. Thanks. Cheers.
Vaduz
hi Vaduz,
loan for overseas studies are not many. PTPTN offers loan for MQA recognised programs, so it does not include overseas courses.
hye sir. this is my stpm result :
pengajian am : A-
bahasa melayu : A
economics : A
geography : B+
pengajian perniagaan : B
do you think im qualified to apply for the Singapore Scholarship ?
hemah,
i guess so. you can give a try.
Hi Mr. Poobalan
I am a concerned mum. My daughter is waiting for her SPM 2009 results and has not decided on her career choice. She doesn’t want to do Form Six. I am lost as to what she can do for her pre-u studies. How to choose between A-Levels, AUSMAT, SAM, foundation, etc. We are an average income family. Your advise is appreciated.
Mrs. Lim
Mrs Lim,
You are not the only one concerned! 🙂 I dare say some parents may be even more concerned than their children themselves. it shows how much we care for our kids future, so nothing wrong in that.
Well, your daughter had made some choices, so that’s a good beginning. NO to STPM is already one choice. To decide on what to or not to do, i’ll suggest the following:
1. decide on career (let’s say 3 or 5 choices). to decide on career, look at her results and see what subjects she did well. some times results can be deceiving. maybe she did well in biology, but that’s because she forced herself to memorise all the stuff in the books 🙂 secondly, as parents, try help her to identify her traits – friendliness, independence, creative, systematic, cool, plans ahead, calculative, outdoor person, high stamina, likes to draw, enjoys music, debater, combative, helpful, indoors person, loner, etc. from there, can try to identify which career MAY suit her personality.
2. by deciding on career above, we can then proceed to narrow the pre-u options to take. this also depends on whether you can finance her studies overseas or want to complete locally. if locally, then there’s not much of a difference. aussie programs offered in local college/uni means you can take SAM, Ausmat. If UK based programs – students usually take a-levels. if american based programs, take ADTP. or if not interested to change colleges, then just take foundation and complete degree in that college itself. now, most colleges/uni accept multiple entry paths, so there’s not much difference between the pre-u program you mentioned. there differences that exist:
SAM/AUSMAT – 50% exam, 50% coursework. uses ranking system instead of grading (A,B, C etc). suitable if not taking critical degrees like medicine, dentistry etc. considered as slightly easier to pass.
A-Levels – more study oriented. if really not sure what degree to do, take this. but still need to decide on subjects to take which in a way will limit your career options. accepted worlwide.
CPU – more coursework oriented than SAM/AUSMAT.
IB-more all-rounder qualifications. some say its tougher, some say its enjoyable. also accepted in many places.
Hi Mr.Poobalan.
I’m currently waiting for my SPM2009 result.I wish to pursue pharmacy course.Sir , is foundation in science a basic requirement for pharmacy course n can u explain further about pharmacy course. And is it okay if I don’t want to do form 6? And is psychology a good course as in does it guarantee a bright future??
Thank you.
Hi Thunita,
to pursue ANY degree course, you will need a pre-uni qualification. this can come in 3 forms – foundation, pre-u or diploma. foundation is like foundation in science offered by colleges. pre-u is like A-Levels, CPU, SAM, Ausmat, STPM. diploma would be diploma in pharmacy.
so, yes, its ok if you don’t do form 6, as long as you do one of the above – foundation, pre-u or diploma. foundation is about one year, and usually easiest method, but require higher qualification (5 credits at least, and usually min B in few subjects).
pharmacy is a good course, and you will work as a pharmacist. read about it at afterschool.my or just search in wikipedia. in fact, if you just search “career pharmacy” in internet, you can learn alot. try it 🙂
psychology is also a good course. both have good prospect, but in terms of jobs available, pharmacy is more. remember, if you take pharmacy, you have to work in government (compulsory service) for 3 years.
hi sir, i need your help and advice.
currently im doing A level(Accounting) and will be sitting for my final exams this coming may. I already got an university offer thru UCAS with my forecast result. How do i use it to apply for scholarships? Firstly, what are the scholarships that are available for me? And when should I apply for it?
-sorry for troubling you..
Hi Irwan,
well, usually you can use the uni offer letter, AND your forecast results first to apply scholarships. some scholarships that ask for SPM result also can, provided you clearly mention that you are about to finish a-levels and secured a place in uni. sometimes, the provider will consider few exception cases, so you should give a try to everything possible.
as for which scholarships, there’s more than 20 in this blog itself, so give a try to those that requirements you meet! 🙂 When to apply, of course before deadline 🙂
sir
izit actuarial science have a nice future in malaysia?
Kirt,
Yes it does, but not to say a lot of job opportunities like engineering or accounts or business studies. its a specialised field, so mainly those companies involved in banking, finance, insurance, investment, economic research etc will employ actuarists.
WHAT IS ACTURIAL SCIENCE.izit science stream o arts wan? if lidat which uni provide this course?and the qualifications are??
Jess,
Actuarial Science is about calculations. so, you have to love numbers and theories :-). read about it at:
http://www.afterschool.my/courses/info.php?field=Accounting,+Business+%26+Finance&course=Actuarial+Science&cid=4&spid=47
or wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Actuarial_science
UTAR: http://www.utar.edu.my/fes/file/9.AS.pdf
there’s few uni like UM, UITM, UKM, USIM, UTAR, Help, Inti, Taylors.
qualifications: you’ll need good results, meaning better than average results in pre-uni like a-levels or stpm or foundation program.
how?
how what?
hi sir..
i finished my spm in 2007 n i excelled wif 10A’s..i applied for matriculation n jpa but din get thru.. fyi, i applied medicine for jpa.. den i turned out some offers n i went for stpm knowing the risk..i din do the best out n i nie got 2b’s n 2c’s, i was expecting for sumthing else but it turned out lyke this..
fyi, i was under jpa scholarship when i was in form 6, we(students) who continued form 6 got a sum of money..but now since my pointer is lower than 3, i no longer gonna get my scholarship continued..
N i always wanted to become a doctor but now since my parents have to ‘sponsor’ me, i feel reluctant to continue n thinking of doin pharmacy.
n i have been thinking of doin it in AIMST
university..my questions are:
1. can i apply for any scholarship(jpa) later in my first year of studies if i have been excelling throughout my exams in uni?
2. im bornt in perak n so were my parents.. i have heard of biasiswa perak.. can u give further details about it?
3. pharmacy&abroad..can i go abroad after i finish doin my degree(for the purpose of working)?
~im kinda depressed thinking bout all these~
looking forward for ur kind reply sir..
thanks alot sir:D
1. JPA scholarship is for SPM leavers only. so, answer is no. unless you study overseas and apply for its loan.
2. there’s two biasiswa perak and yayasan perak. and both are loans. refer http://www.yayasanperak.com.my and biasiswa.perak.gov.my
3. yes you can. PROVIDED, the degree you do is recognised in that country. so, if you want to work in australia, then you check with the australian higher education dept or pharmacy board if the uni you plan to enrol in is accepted.
no need depressed, take it easy, there’s always options and choices. sometimes we just need to adjust a bit. 🙂
hi sir…
i am waiting for my spm results.
i am interested to persue my study to dietician.
i am sure that i am not taking stpm.
so can sir help me to figure out where should i go?
like taking foundation or a levels? why cant i find diploma for this course?>.<
hi pohyee,
diploma for dietitian is quiet rare. in fact i have heard of it so far. you should go for foundation if you got at least 5 credits in SPM and good results in biology, chemistry. else, you can continue a-levels.
you can check both studymalaysia.com and afterschool.my that have list of courses offered in malaysia. also, can visit Facon education fair this weekend at klcc.
Hi there.
Well, i just got my spm results and i’m totally shocked. I was expecting straight A’s as I am one of my school’s top achievers but it was not meant to be. My results are as follows:
BM- A+
BI- A+
MT- A-
SEJ- A+
ADD MT- A+
BIO- B+
PHY- B
CHEM- B
MORAL- B
I was expecting so much! What should i do now? Would the JPA scholarship still be eligible? Or should i continue A-levels or STPM?
@savina, Sorry, there was a typo. Add maths was actually C. Boohoo… T_T
Savina, no problem. the earlier advice still stands.
Hi Savina,
sometimes its like that. well, you can do an appeal, but most likely no changes.
you can try JPA scholarship, but read the RULES page first at JPA website. some of the scholarships allow for applicants with at least 5 As, but its not for medical or engineering programs.
while waiting for JPA results, you can enrol in pre-u or even take foundation course (if you know your ambition). if finance is a problem, then STPM is the option. if parents can support, better do a-levels or foundation which is much easier than STPM. STPM is a risk because have to study hard, and place in uni is not guaranteed.
Dear sir,
What scholarship or loan can i apply for? if my stpm result only got:
general paper b+
mt b-
chemistry c
biology b-
purata cgpa is 2.67
I interested in engineering at UNIMAP.
hi Weyan,
I can’t really say which because there’s two pages of info in this blog itself and there’s links to few other scholarship related websites. just go thru the requirements and apply where it fits. when i was at your age, i applied for nearly everything that came out in paper 🙂 at worse, just spend some money on photostating, envelopes and stamps.
HI SIR,
do u noe wat r d requiements 4 d national schlarship?
i recently scored 9a+’s and 2a’s in SPM.
wuld i be eligble for it?
and is our anandha krishnan offering any sship..i have heard bout it..bt not sure.
txnx 4 ur time.
Hi rvna,
firstly, congrats on your results! 🙂
well, i strongly suggest apply for ALL and ANY relevant scholarship. that’s what i used to do. same goes for national scholarship.
AK’s NGO is MCEF, not much is known about it. you can call them up (no website). numbers is on Scholarship page 2. Another of his company is Tanjong and MAxis which may offer scholarship. i’m waiting for the ad to be released.
@poobalan, first of all, thanks for the reply sir..
>i heard bout the usm medicine programme(twinning programme).. wat is it all about? izit open for 1992 bornt students only?
>n how bout the anandha krishnan scholarship?
>one more thing, since i have finished my spm kinda two years back,ll i still be considered to receive any kind of scholarship or the current students who have finished their spm ll be given priority?
HI Nisha,
1. i’m not sure if the twinning program has age limit or anything. didn’t notice it anywhere. where did you see the year of birth info?
2. there’s no ananda krishna scholarship which i’m aware of. he provides help via his companies like Maxis, Tanjong, and also NGO like MCEF.
3. Two years back is a bit hard. highest preference is for 2009 spm students, followed by 2008 spm students.
Hello sir. I would like to clarify about one thing. I have applied for this scholarship entitled ‘Program Ijazah Luar Negara’ and in my application forms i chose (Pemohonan utk Universiti Penyelidikan dalam negara). So now wat i doubt is that, is this application to study locally or overseas?
Hi Inaar,
THE PILN is mainly for overseas study. however, students can choose to apply for local study as well, since the option for local research IPTA. so, its two in one i guess. refer this:
Pelajar-pelajar cemerlang yang tidak terpilih disebabkan persaingan sengit di bawah program PILN akan ditawarkan tajaan untuk mengikuti program PIDN sama ada di empat buah universiti penyelidikan di Malaysia iaitu Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) dan Universiti Malaya (UM) ataupun di beberapa institusi pengajian tinggi (IPT) tempatan yang lain.
Bagi IPT tempatan, calon ditawarkan ke kampus-kampus cawangan University of Nottingham, Monash University, Swinburne University of Technology dan Curtin University of Technology ataupun Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP), Universiti Multimedia Malaysia (MMU), Universiti Tenaga Nasional (Uniten), AIMST University, Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL)-Royal College of Medical Sciences (RCMS), Cyberjaya University College of Medical Sciences (CUCMS), Alliance College of Medical Sciences (ACMS)-UKM dan University College Sedaya International (UCSI).

Hi sir,
Good day to u.
Currently my brother is doing his DIPLOMA IN CHEMICAL ENGINEERING in Segi College. Previously he had borrowed PTPTN loan for studying the same course in MICET. But now due to some reason we have changed him to Segi and he is not able to get any other loan for his studies. Is there any other chance of him getting Loan(not scholarship) from any organization to help his education? I’m looking forward for a good reply from you sir..
Regards,
Anu
Hi Anu,
There’s few listed in the Scholarships page here. Try State Yayasan or SUK funds as well (State is based on parents place of birth).
You can pay off the PTPTN loan (is it much since he did not complete the studies?). Then try apply again.
hi sir,
i found out dat d national s/ship cannot b applied cuz studens r selcted y ministry of edu.(30 top scorers)
btw, i aso tried 2 apply 4 petronas sship 4 medc under overseas prgrm bt d borang permohoan oni includes kemasukan ke utp..which hs engneering but no medic.
so how o i g about getting d form 4 petronas s/ship fr oversea program 2 do medic?
thnx 4 ur time
Hi Rvna,
Sorry, i thought you were talking about the Singapore Scholarship. So, you are referring to Biasiswa Nasional announced by PM Najib last year. Yeah its for top 30 students as announced by KPM.
i don’t think petronas is offering for medic this time. didn’t see it in the list.
Dear Poobalan,
My friend is about to complete her foundation in nursing at International University College of Nursing (IUCN). She has secured PTPTN loan for the degree course. However, for the foundation, she & her colleagues were promised a study loan from Agro bank but at the last min, they were told their applications were denied. My question, is there any available loans she could apply to pay up the foundation fees? Appreciate your advice. Thank you
Hi Navin,
I’m not sure of loans for foundation. Best if can talk to the college. if there’s any black and white agreement between IUCN or Agrobank, then you can consider highlighting this issue with MOHE. you can also try other banks.
Hi, may i know which scholarship for degree can be applied by SPM leaver? I know JPA can offer scholarship for degree. and the others when i go their website they offer only foundation or pre-U scholarships with SPM result. Normally they want pre-U results for degree scholarships.
Jiun,
There’s no way for SPM leaver can study degree because must take a foundation or pre-u program. SO, some scholarships cover both foundation/pre-u AND degree, while others ask for pre-u qualification.
There’s very few like JPA at the moment, i don’t think got others.
@poobalan, thx for the info. i would like to ask u for the pros and cons of studying F6 compared with SAM. hope u can help. xD
Hi Jiun,
you can check out recom.org (search their forum) for really in=depth discussion on such comparison. my take:
F6: two year (from start of program until results are out). tough. exam only end of two years. entry to IPTA not guaranteed. 4 to 5 subjects. cheapest option. it really prepares a students. most lecturers would agree that STPM students are better than the foundation/matric students because of the hardship they go through. may end up getting premature grey har 🙂
SAM: results based on exam and coursework, so easier to pass. based on precentile ranking (i think) meaning your results is like 95%, meaning you are in the top 5% of the whole students ( Students are provided with a university aggregate score (out of 90 marks) and a tertiary entrance rank (TER), a percentile ranking that is recognised without modification by all tertiary selection agencies in Australia, and used by universities around the world to select students for degree courses). 5 subjects. 1 year program. more expensive compared to F6. refer: http://www.sam.sa.edu.au
hai sir,
in this recent spm, i obtain 4a+, 4a, 1a-(chemist), 1b+(physic), 1b(bio).. i’m interested in taking medicine course but due to my science result…. am i still eligible to apply for medicine course?.. 🙁
Hi Mugunthan,
you can do medicine since lowest result B is still acceptable. However, JPA scholarship is difficult to say the least.
hai sir….i need ur advise on my frens spm result…he took return test tis year and he got 9g for bm n D for BI and Moral…
can he apply for PTPTN LOAN since he did not get credits in any subject..Previously in 2008 SPM he got only 1 credit..he is currently doind certificate and wishing to continue in Diploma
he is from middle class family
so is there any other suggestion and please inform if he can apply for PTPTN loan
pls sir pls…its important pls
Hi Neelu,
if fail BM, then life will be difficult. I strongly suggest that he apply july paper and improve his BM to C. He also needs to have 3 credits. HOWEVER, if he finishes his certificate (gets good results 3.00 above) and can get a place to do diploma (MQA recognised), then he only needs to pass SPM which is pass BM.
this is the syarat from PTPTN website:
Lulus Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia(SPM) dengan sekurang-kurangnya 3 kepujian dalam mana-mana mata pelajaran;
Lulus SPM bagi pelajar lepasan Sijil Kolej Komuniti dan Diploma Politeknik dengan syarat memperolehi CGPA 3.0 dan ke atas;
Bagi pelajar-pelajar IPTA/IPTS/Politeknik, mereka hendaklah telah mendaftar untuk mengikuti kursus yang telah diluluskan oleh Jabatan Pengurusan IPT(IPTA/IPTS)/Jabatan Pengurusan Politeknik dan Kolej Komuniti,Kementerian Pengajian Tinggi;
Bagi pelajar-pelajar IPTS, kursus yang diikuti mestilah telah mendapat Sijil Perakuan Akreditasi daripada Agensi Kelayakan Malaysia(MQA) dan belum tamat tempoh sah laku semasa permohonan dikemukakan;
Hi sir,

BM- A+
chinese- B+
do i stand a gud chance for the jpa scholarship?
Hi Michelle,
congrats on your results! Hey, its still an excellent achievement, so i’ll say thank the Gods and the stars and parents and teachers 🙂
you can apply for JPA, but refer to their rules. don’t apply for something that you don’t qualify in the first place.
hi,
i really cant get the applcatin form for petronas OVERSEAS UNIVERSITY SPONSORSHIP.
so,where do i get??its not in their websites 2.
Rvna,
this is the link right? http://spmonline.petronas.com.my/index.php
use internet explorer. don’t user firefox, opera, chrome browsers.
Good Morning Sir.
When I was applying for Yayasan Tm’s scholarship,I came across with these things:
program:Alpha MMU
DIPLOMA MMU
IJAZAH PERTAMA MMU
IJAZAH PERTAMA IPTA
PERSEDIAAN KE LUAR NEGARA
I am a Spm lever and and confused whether to choose Alpha MMU or persediaan ke luar negara.I would be glad if you explain alpha mmu program in detail.
Thanks in advance.
Hi whimsical,
alpha MMU means foundation program. you choose this IF intend to continue degree in MMU.
persediaan luar negara means, well, as the name says – to further study in overseas.
Sir
IJM Scholarships are only available for those who had finished their STPM/Matriculation.I think you need to add this in the eligibility’s section.Thank you.
thanks whimsical. i have updated the info.
Thank you for the reply sir. I have another question. If I would like to pursue my studies in the medical field, are the SHELL scholarship and the ASEAN scholarship suitable?
If not, what are the other suitable scholarships that i can apply for this medical line? I obtained straight 10As for my SPM examination. Thank you.
helo sir…
i juz got my spm resultz n m totally shocked.. i was expecting for strait a’s as my trial was preety gud. my spm results are :
BM – A
BI – A
MORAL – A-
SEJ – A
MATHS – A
ADD MATHS – B+
PYSICS – B+
BIO – A-
CHM – A-
TAMIL – A+
TMIL LITRT – B+
I was expecting sooo much!!! now i really dont noe wat to do.. I need ur advice sir..
i dont noe weder i shuld take stpm o a-levels o foundation courses… is there any chances 4 me to get jpa scholarshp?? o any oder scholarshp??
n m kinda confuse boud wic field n line to take up… I need ur kind advice..
thankz alot 4 ur time…
Hi Roobi,
well, sometimes things happen out of over expectation. its ok, we have to adjust and move on. you did quite well, just missed 3 subjects, so its still an excellent result.
JPA scholarship requires min 8 or 9 A-.
other scholarships may ask for 7 to 10 As, so check their requirements.
as for what to do (STPM vs pre-u vs foundation), depends on your ambition/interest/plan. if you can afford IPTS, then can go for that or if not, then its STPM.
which field – as i said, depends on your initial plan/ambition/interest. your results are OK and allows you to go for nearly all science and engineering field (and teaching for Tamil).
Hi sir
I need your advise, I just got my result and got 7A+, 1A(bio), 1A-(physics), 1B. i spoiled the result because i got B in english. I’m so frustrating because i want to apply scholarship but mostly they need at least A- . I want to be a doctor someday but i don’t know which the route should i take. I really need yours.
Hi Halis,
its an excellent result even if you got B in english. the JPA scholarship needs A- minimum, but can give a try for others.
your option now is IPTS. i just prepared a list of IPTS offering medic and also list of placement agents. so, talk to them and maybe can get good discount for fees or even scholarship.
