  3. YOGES says:

    HI SIR,
I HAVE TO APPRECIATE YOU FOR THIS BENEFICIAL WEBSITE.
    SIR, I GOT 10 A+ AND1 A- IN SPM 2009
I’M NOT SURE OF MY FUTURE PLAN
I’M INTERSETED IN EITHER AEROSPACE ENG. OR MEDICINE.
IF IT IS AEROSPACE ENG, WAT WIL B THE BEST PATH TO FURTHER MY STUDIES,SIR?
SIR THERE IS ALSO STAR EDUCATION FUND SCHOLARSHIP AND HONDA DREAMS FUND , HOPE YOU MAY ADD IT TOO!
    THANK YOU VERY MUCH SIR!!!!!!!!!!

    • poobalan says:

      hi yoges,

if aerospace, its offered in local IPTA and IPTS. for IPTA, you will need STPM qualification. Did you check if JPA offering this option under their PILN.

my suggestion, go for A-levels or foundation in IPTS. since you got 11As, surely the IPTS can offer a good scholarship. You can check in http://www.afterschool.my or http://www.studymalaysia.com where you can search by course, do find which IPTS offers aerospace.

i have added Star Edu fund and Honda Dreams. i think its on page 3.

  4. Jiun says:

Hello, may i know what is the pros and cons of studying F6 compared with SAM?

    • poobalan says:

      Hi Jiun,

you can check out recom.org (search their forum) for really in=depth discussion on such comparison. my take:

F6: two year (from start of program until results are out). tough. exam only end of two years. entry to IPTA not guaranteed. 4 to 5 subjects. cheapest option. it really prepares a students. most lecturers would agree that STPM students are better than the foundation/matric students because of the hardship they go through. may end up getting premature grey har 🙂

SAM: results based on exam and coursework, so easier to pass. based on precentile ranking (i think) meaning your results is like 95%, meaning you are in the top 5% of the whole students ( Students are provided with a university aggregate score (out of 90 marks) and a tertiary entrance rank (TER), a percentile ranking that is recognised without modification by all tertiary selection agencies in Australia, and used by universities around the world to select students for degree courses). 5 subjects. 1 year program. more expensive compared to F6. refer: http://www.sam.sa.edu.au

  5. PURVEENA says:

sir,i’m a spm leaver. can i know wat r de scholarsips offered 4 medicine?????????????? tq.

  6. nisha says:

sir why not u have a look at it?

  7. bawani says:

I am interested in neuroscience research. where I start from. 2009 SPM 6As & 2Bs thank you

    • poobalan says:

      hi bawani,

if i’m not mistaken neuroscience is offered at master level. you have to do degree in medicine or biomedicine. i’m not sure if there’s such a program at bachelor degree level in malaysia.

in any case, you have to do a foundation or pre-uni program first.

  8. muruga says:

hye sir. currently, i’m in final semester in diploma. but my cgpa not very excellent like all the above scholarship requirement needed. but my current cgpa still above 3pointer. can u suggest me any scholar that require cgpa above 3? if i’m not mistaken, bank rakyat scholarship require atleast 3pointer. can u suggest me any scholarship that require 3pointer above?
    thanks sir.

    • poobalan says:

      hi muruga,

even though scholarships may put requirement at least 3.0 CGPA, do you think its easy to get? i think the lower the requirement, the more applicants…so tougher competition. i’m not sure about bank rakyat, but i can’t remember any scholarships putting 3.0 as minimum requirement. usually they’ll mention excellent results only.

  9. Ravina says:

    tq very much sir…… 🙂

  10. Kavien Raaj says:

  12. rvna devi says:

i have called the petronas hotline and it is confirmed tat they are NOT offering medic dis year.
    how unfotunate>??

  13. aravinthan says:

    sir,
i was wondering which is better A-levels or Sam programme.
i am a straight A’s student (8 A+ and 2 A’s). and what are the odds of me getting jpa scholarship ? (i have applied for engineering course).

    • poobalan says:

      Hi aravinthan,

i replied to another similar question as well:

you can check out recom.org (search their forum) for really in=depth discussion on such comparison. my take:

F6: two year (from start of program until results are out). tough. exam only end of two years. entry to IPTA not guaranteed. 4 to 5 subjects. cheapest option. it really prepares a students. most lecturers would agree that STPM students are better than the foundation/matric students because of the hardship they go through. may end up getting premature grey har

5 subjects. 1 year program. more expensive compared to F6. refer: http://www.sam.sa.edu.au

the odds are quite high, but remember, there’s potentially few thousand applicants. all the best.

  14. unfortunate says:

    helo sir,in my spm ’07, i got 6A 4B, in my stpm ’09 i got(p.a-B+,bio-B,math-B-,chem-C-) ….
i already register my foundation in science and by september i’ll start my first year medical degree program at kursk state medical uni…. my problem is, im afford to pay for my foundation but for my degree, i don know how to get loan…. can u suggest wad loan should i apply…

    • poobalan says:

      hi unfortunate,

its a bit risky to further study without proper plan. there are students who face problem once in 4th year due to lack of funds. why not talk to your agent/college that got you a place in foundation and the uni?

jpa offers loan, but need to check if your uni is in the list or not. their loan is from second semester of degree program only.

  15. Weyan says:

    Dear sir,

I checked from the PTPTN website,at the Syarat-Syarat Pembiayaan corner they listed :* Mulai 18 Mei 2009, syarat simpanan SSPN bagi tujuan permohonan pembiayaan PTPTN telah tidak dikuatkuasakan.

    BUT,

At the FAQ Permohonan Pembiayaan Pinjaman PTPTN Secara Online they listed: j.

    I’m confused , if syarat(Mulai 18 Mei 2009….) is true, why they still remain syarat( j ) ?

One more question, normally, when is the time to apply pembiayaan ptptn for IPTA?And I cannot find the date to apply at the website.

    • poobalan says:

      hi weyan,

if i’m not mistaken, the rules have been abolished. i attended the star education fair, and the speaker from PTPTN mentioned something like that.

you apply PTPTN via your college schedule. PTPTN will have a timetable on when to apply, which you can check with the college.. you can only apply after you have secured a place in IPTa/IPTS.

  16. pravita says:

hi,sir..wat should i muz get 4 my spm tis year,if i wan to do matri in private o goverment?

    • poobalan says:

      hi pravita,

matriculation application starts BEFORE your SPM exam, and they focus mainly on family background. for IPTS, you can enter foundation/matriculation as long as 5 credits or more.

  17. sara says:

i received only 5a’s for my spm . will i be able to apply for any scholarships?

you can only apply for diploma level if IPTA (assuming you are non-bumi). your options to do degree is either Form 6 or go private.

  22. tplus1 says:

Hi Sir, your website is really helpful…

i have some questions to ask u.. the Yayasan TM scholarship, the Biasiswa Persediaan ke Luar Negara which they offered, how does it works? they only sent to a foundation? Not promised to sent u to oversea to study? or it is judge by the exam result in the foundation?

    • poobalan says:

      hi tplus1,

i would expect that it depends on your results at the end of the foundation program. why send a students overseas if he/she can’t do well in the foundation itself, right?

  23. Vimalathevi Perumal says:

    Hi Mr. Poobalan,

It is indeed a beneficial website for students and I am proud that information gathered is given out so very unselfishly for the benefit of all. Keep up the good work and God Bless.

  26. Viji says:

    Dear Sir
My friends son did not do well in SPM. He has got Eon main subjects and C for Science. He has got an extra subject called Manseris Rado & TV abd he got 5C for it.
What course will be the best for him

    • poobalan says:

      Hi Viji,

what about his interest? maybe should ask him about skills based course instead of the studying type of course? there’s courses for skills training via ILP or Kolej Komuniti.

i’m not sure of about manseris rado and tv? what is that actually?

  27. fish says:

is there any scholarship available for me?
and i still dun know wat is my interest in
    can u help me?

    • poobalan says:

      hi jeevetha,

well, you can consider doing diploma in nursing. plenty of scholarships offered for that course.

your interest – have to see what you like and don’t like. what subjects you got A?

  29. Suba says:

    Dear sir,
    I obtained 5a’s(a+,bm,bi),(a,maths),(a-,moral,sejarah),2b’s(b+,bio), (b,addmaths) and 2c’s(c,chemistry and physics).

Im really confused on what to do after this which is either a-levels, stpm of foundation. All i wanna ask is if i can get any scholarship after doing well in my a-levels or foundation.

Another point is im interested in actuarial science, can i do it considering that im a science student. Pls help me sir.

    Thanks in advance.

    • poobalan says:

      suba,

you can get scholarship after a-levels or foundation, but not a lot of options, as most scholarships are offered for SPM and STPM leavers. foundation means you will be likely forced to continue degree in same uni/college as the foundation.

yes, you can do actuarial science as its meant for science/maths students.

  30. shana says:

sir, i have obtained 10 As & 2 Bs for my spm.i would like to do actuarial science…since i have obtained b+ for my addmaths would it be tough for me to do actuarial science..sir wat do u think abt tis actuarial science…is it tough..i m confused..pls do reply immediately..

    • poobalan says:

      Hi shana,

actuarial science is considered tough, but having B in add maths is still OK. if you are really interested, then a bit more focus and hard work will surely help.

  31. shana says:

    hi sir,
tis is my spm results….10As(1a+,5a,4a-) n 2 b+…the b+ is for moral n add maths…is there any chances for me to obtain a scholarships..n is there a bright future for the actuarial science in malaysia……thank you sir..

    • poobalan says:

      shana,

chances for scholarship is there. actuarial science, just like many other fields, are in demand, but not so many job offers because its limited to selected industries only.

    • poobalan says:

      Hi arunahdevi,

check the list in Scholarships (pg 3 or 4) where’s there’s link to other scholarship websites. Soem like IDP australia, emacc etc do offer post grad scholarships. i don’t post about postgrad here since my main focus is school leavers. you can join facebook or the yahoo forums for more info on postgrad opportunities.

  33. chan says:

    hi sir,
this is my spm results….8As(2a+,add maths,moral,3a,eng maths,sej,3a-,phy,chem,bm) n 2b for bio and est n the b+ is for ict…is there any chances for me to obtain a scholarships..n is there a bright future for the aircraft maintenece eng in malaysia and are the demand is there in the future….i also had apply in unikl(miat) but i doubt is that the best institute for aircraft maintenece eng??pls help me to choose the best place to study and any scholarship the availble…

    • poobalan says:

      Hi Chan,

8As is a bit hard to get scholarship, but not impossible. your co-curricular activities also play a role. aircraft maintenance engineering is a good field as the aviation and travel industry picks up. UNIKL has good facilities, so you won’t want to underestimate them.

there’s few other colleges which you can search from http://www.afterschool.my or http://www.studymalaysia.com

  36. sriethar says:

    sir,i got 2a’s in spm,in phy n maths.but i scored (d) in eng,cn i do marine eng with tat result?will i get a loan for tat?

    • poobalan says:

      hi sriethar,

you should improve your english results by retaking that subject. you will need at least 3 credits for a diploma and 5 credits for a foundation program. you can get loan if the course is recognised by MQA. PTPTN requires credit in BM if i’m not mistaken. and PTPTN loans does not cover foundation/pre-u level course.

  37. shana says:

    vanakkam sir,
thanks a lot 4 ur kind info sir…sir can u pls mentioned wat r the industries/companies that offer tis actuarial science…since my parents have no idea wat is tis actuarial science n worried abt the job scope in malaysia….since many graduates have no job in m’sia..my parents r 2 worried abt it…thanx sir.. 🙂

    • poobalan says:

      hi shana,

the industries are in the finance, economy, banking, investment firms, insurance, govt sectors. your job will be in banks, insurance companies, share market companies, financial companies, consultant firms, govt dept, etc.

why would you want to study this course if you don’t have much info on what is it all about? i strongly suggest you search in Google or Yahoo and read up a bit.

  38. selvi says:

hi sir… i got 10As and 4Bs in my spm…. unfortunately, i got B’s in my science subjects and est..(physics and biology:B+ chemistry and est: B) I wish to study medicine or scientist… i got offer letter from AIMST university to study foundation in science….and some universities offer me to study cambridge A-level…. but, im waiting for matriculation offer… now, i need information to become a scientist especially space scientist…. can u please give me the relavant website… is there any malaysian universities offers degree studies to become scientist….? or i need to do degree in medicine first then only can become scientist after finishing master course? please help me….

    • poobalan says:

      hi selvi,

i’m not sure about “space scientist” term. you may want to look up astronomy or aerospace engineering which are two areas related to space. USM offers course on aerospace engineering while i don’t know of any IPTA/IPTS offering course on astronomy. there are people who study physics in relation to space studies.

nope, you need not do a degree in medicine in order to be a scientist. a scientist is one who does research based on his/her area of study. so, you can do any science related degree like Bachelor in Chemistry, Bachelor in Applied Physics, Bachelor in nutrition (food studies) and so on. a doctor can be a scientist as well, especially when the doctors does more research work than actually working in a clinic to help patients.

so, you may want to specify what scientist you want to be, as basically any science-based graduate can be one.

HI SIR… THANK YOU FOR YOUR REPLY FOR MY LAST QUESTION…. Now i want to know about the forensic science course… Is it one of science-based graduate? As my ambition is to become a scientist, can i be a forensic scientist after graduate? After graduate, is there bright future will wait for me? I got 10As and 4Bs in my spm….

    • poobalan says:

      hi selvi,

not sure if there’s a specific course for forensic course recently. i have a friend who works in chemistry department and does forensic analysis. basically, you’ll need a degree in chemistry or health science. there’s a course in USM, UKM, UITM. And also in Help Institute, MSU, UCSI.

  41. selvi says:

HI SIR, I JUST WANT TO KNOW AFTER STUDYING DEGREE IN MEDICINE, THE SERVICE UNDER GOVERNMENT FOR 3 YEARS IS COMPULSORY RIGHT? IS IT INCLUDES HOUSEMANSHIP? OR HOUSEMAN(2 YEARS) + SERVICE UNDER GOVERNMENT(3YEARS)= 5 YEARS?

  42. Reva says:

    • poobalan says:

      reva,

my best suggestion is to get place in IPTA.

if not, you have to look for scholarships that says matriculation/stpm/foundation/pre-u students can apply.

at the moment, there’s none for medical coz deadlines are all over.

  43. selvi says:

HI SIR…… IS THERE ANY UNIVERSITIES IN MALAYSIA OFFERS COSMOLOGY COURSE? IF NOT, HOW ABOUT OVERSEAS? CAN YOU PLEASE GIVE THE RELAVANT WEBSITES? PLZ HELPPPPPPP MEEEEEEEEEE………….

  44. emenda says:

    dear sir,

I have got a place to do my master’s in uk. Can you please assist me which scholarship i can go for?

    • poobalan says:

      hi emenda,

you should refer to the UK uni for some advice, also check out the institutions/organisations related to your area of study. secondly, some companies like Khazanah, Astro, Maxis do offer scholarship for masters. Third, refer to British Council.

  45. r.vinondran says:

sir, i got 9A and 1B in spm 2009 and i applied for jpa scholarships and i was not offered the scholarship. can you suggest me any other scholarships that are available for my result and can u explain to me on the pathway to further my studies in a physics related field without going to form 6. i am interested to further my studies in a physics related field. i am hoping to get some advice from you sir..

    • poobalan says:

      hi vinondran,

you can check in this blog, there’s not many scholarships left. see which fits your requirements.

to continue without taking form 6, you can either do foundation in science or pre-u (a-levels, ausmat, sam, cpu, adtp). after that take a degree in science, physics, applied physics or other fields like aerospace, engineering, manufacturing.

  46. kumar says:

hello sir, is there any loans or scholarship for foundation studies.I’m doing my first sem in utar in foundation.

    • poobalan says:

      hi kumar,

did you check at utar itself? the student affairs will have a list of scholarship providers. also, if you have good spm results, most likely can get discount or scholarship.

  47. Pavitra says:

  48. sathana says:

sir,is it difficult to get geograpy teaching course at upsi 4 me.me get 4A in stpm.al say tat very difficult to get

  49. Prathiv says:

    Hi sir,
im prathiv supparmaniam. i obtain 12A’s in Spm(2008) currently i’m doing my Foundation in Science in USCI university. i jst plan to continue my degree is petroleum engineering. Does this career have job opportunity in another 5 years in malaysia? Coz, pple saying that petroleum is going to deplete in malaysia. please tell your opinion regarding to this matter. Is it safe to me to choose chemical engineering rather than petroleum engineering? guide me sir.

    • poobalan says:

      hi prathiv,

next five years is still ok, and i think even beyond that, the oil fields around the world is still available. if you just limit to working in malaysia, a bit of a problem in 10-20 years time. unless of course, new oil reserves are found. however remember that its a lifelong education process, and you may end up in another career from petroleum engineering – may b research, environmental, education, and so on. the degree is just the first step.

  50. sathana says:

    SIR,I GET 4A’S IN STPM.WHERE I CAN GET NOT BONDING SCHOLORSHIP…?

    • poobalan says:

      hi sathana,

bond depends on the provider and not results. most organisations require bonding to show the seriousness of the scholarship. some may be general, like asking you to serve the in the country or in govt or in certain industry.

      • sathana says:

sir i rongly used pen to wrote name and ic num at ujian medsi omr paper..it wil cause any problem ah?

        • poobalan says:

          hi sathana,

how can you do that la? OMR form seldom use pen right? exam stress is it?

hmm…i hope it won’t be rejected. in some cases, if the form is rejected by the reader system, the staff will manually key in. but i’m not sure about MPM procedure. i think you should call them and ask.
