When KP Samy investigated why he was barred from leaving the country, he was told that it was a miscommunication between police and immigration department. Looks like he’s filing a complaint!

Businessman K.P. Samy, who was prevented from leaving the country recently, will lodge a complaint with the Home Ministry.
Samy, who was supposed to fly to Chennai with a group of 60 on Saturday morning, was denied permission to leave the country at the Immigration counter at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport.

A furious Samy was told yesterday that it was a miscommunication by the authorities.

“I will write to the Home Ministry on the matter as it is not right for them to prevent me from travelling abroad without any valid reasons.”

Samy’s ordeal started on Saturday morning after being told he couldn’t leave the country. The group he was travelling with had to leave without him.

Samy said he met with Immigration department and police officials in Shah Alam yesterday but was told to check with the respective headquarters in Putrajaya and Bukit Aman. “Officers in Bukit Aman informed me it was a miscommunication between the police and Immigration Department,” he said.

The Star was a bit more mild in reporting this news:

Businessman K.P. Samy, who was barred by the Immigration Department at the KLIA from leaving the country on Sunday, can now travel freely.

However, the travel agency owner remains baffled over the reason for the Sunday incident at the airport.

“I was made to understand that I was prevented from travelling to India due to a miscommunication between the police and immigration department,” said an upset Samy.

Samy said he had gone to the Selangor Immigration Department headquarters in Shah Alam and was told that the order to bar him from leaving the country had come from the police.  “I then went to the Shah Alam district police headquarters and was told to go to Bukit Aman. When I went there, an officer immediately contacted the Immigration Department in Putrajaya,” said Samy.

The police officer was told that Samy could leave the country anytime he wanted to.

“So, what gives? What really happened?” asked Samy.
