Finally took noodles at a Chinese restaurant at Brinchang. Our first stop was the Big Red Strawberry Farm located at Brinchang town itself. Its near the Cactus Valley and across the road from the pasar malam site. This place was set up about 3 years ago, and it primarily exports salad to overseas markets. The also sell many kinds of flower plants. While were there, there were construction work to expand the area. According to one of the workers, lots of tourists visit this place. They plan to built a car park and more plantation area. The souvenirs are a bit expensive compared to other place, but the area is big and cooling.

MIC had to go begging as usual. PSD head gave an interview regarding the selection criteria on NST recently. Full interview is found below. Let’s look at some pertinent points:

The overseas programme is very competitive. The criteria is 70 points for academic excellence, 10 points for interview, 10 points for family economic background and 10 points for co-curricular activities.
The criteria for foreign studies scholarship is revealed, but the director also revealed that 15000 applications were received, out of which 7500 qualified. and out of 7500, only 2000 got it. A 12-year resettlement dispute between property developer and plantation giant, Sime Darby Bhd, and workers of Bukit Raja Estate in Klang, finally came to an end when both parties reached a settlement following the intervention of MIC.
MIC President Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu said the workers had accepted the land offered by Sime Darby to build their homes.“I met the representatives of the workers and Sime Darby yesterday and they agreed that the workers will be provided with their agreed choice of house on the land,” he said in a statement today. Samy Vellu said Sime Darby would soon issue offer letters to the workers.
Before the last general election, Samy Vellu said he and Putera Umno chief Datuk Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim visited the estate following complaints that the Bukit Raja Tamil School was without a playground. I requested Sime Darby to allocate a two-acre (0.8ha) land to build the playground and a two-storey building for the school,” he said. “I also asked the company to hand over the land where the school is currently located to the Education Ministry for the school to be converted into a fully-aided school.
“All the requests were agreed to by Sime Darby but the housing problem was not solved as the estate workers did not want to accept the land offered by the company. “But now the housing issue has been resolved and I urge the workers to cooperate with Sime Darby,” he added.

Thanenthiran said. He said the concept, which recognised a citizen not by his colour, religion or his cultural background, could help promote greater unity.
“We should give the Bangsa Malaysia concept a chance. Political parties should no longer be race-based. “Politicians should also stop using racial and religious sentiments that could disunite the people,” he said yesterday.
On Sunday, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said it was important for Malaysians to identify themselves as Bangsa Malaysia and not by their race.
Thanenthiran also called on Indian youths to continue using tolerance, patience, love and peace in their approach to resolve problems.
“Similarly, we wish the Government will accept our requests to sit down and talk amicably about Hindraf’s concerns,” he said.
