When is SV stepping down? I guess within a year.

Who will replace him? Only one with cabinet minister post is Dr S.Subramaniam. Unless Dato Subra can be nominated as Senator and given a “special advisor” tag, he will have tough time convincing the MIC assembly. Palanivel – time to close shop, I guess.

Any dark horses? Devamany and Saravanan to push for higher positions like Deputy/Vice President. Where does that leave Sothinathan? » Read more: MIC is there for taking, but who will?

Reason why Deputy MB should be Muslim

Prof Shad points out that the Deputy in Selangor may have to represent the Menteri Besar when the MB is not around, to attend the Council of Rulers meetings.

The menteri besar is also an ex-officio member of the Dewan Di-Raja (Council of Rulers). This means, when the MB is not around, the deputy has to sit on the council and has to be a Muslim to be able to perform duties in this council.

Well, Teresa Kok’s dream is shattered! Unless become Teresa Abdullah 😆

It’s heartening to know that the Prof has great plans. He have already started a blog, even tough it is still in its infancy. As the article below mentions, being an Indian in a very high position, the community expects him to help out. Everything that happens in MIC/temples/schools/education etc., the dailies and the community will be waiting with interest for his comments.  Unlike Mydin who called bloggers housewives etc., the new guy on the block is wise enough to start things on a fresh footing:

Q: The new media has exploded. Are you going to engage the bloggers at all?

A: Well, I wish I could see them. But I don’t know how many there are. Bloggers can be local and global. They can be everywhere and they emerge every day. They are important. In this explosion of information technology, everywhere is the centre of information. And people are free to express what they think. There is the good and bad about that. I wish we can sit down and talk to them and think openly what’s best for the country. That’s the bottom line.
