DBKL fighters

I was have early dinner at a restaurant at Jalan Hang Lekiu, KL (the road that leads to the church near Menara Maybank and Telekom Museum). At about 5.45pm, there were shouts of “gaduh, gaduh” (fight, fight) and some patrons went out to catch the action.

When I went out, there were 8 DBKL staff, 2 policemen, a patrol car, and a plump Chinese guy with torn t-shirt. One of the policemen was writing down something, while about 40 onlookers were crowding the area.

From what I gathered from eye witnesses,  3 DBKL officers came and were writing summons for those shops that left their garbage outside their premises along the road. The Chinese guy (from one of the shops) argued why they only summoned his shop while ignoring others. It seems the DBKL guys called him to go to back alley, and then can hear people fighting, chairs smashed. Many people witnessed this. Not sure when the other 5 DBKL people came into the picture.
The chinese guy then called the police and dared the DBKL staff to stay there till the police came. When the police arrived, he was seen to make a report against the BKL staff.  He then left the scene, while the crowd also started to dispersed.

The letter Hindraf submitted to UN is below.

It is mentioned that 100,000 people attended November 25 rally, which I think is incorrect. Other points can be debated fiercely, but I think it highlights the grouses of the community, even though it may use extreme examples at times.

Samy and the medical degree drama

I didn’t bother much about this news until the names of Samy Vellu, MIED, and Chitrakala appeared. Looks like Indian community issue since 70% of the affected people are Indians.

I have to wonder, if these graduates are from WHO’s recognised programmes, why don’t they find a job anywhere but Malaysia? The country doesn’t want your services (yet?), so why not work elsewhere first? Perhaps the country where they obtained their degrees will be the best option. So, the decision by some of them to sit for overseas qualifying exams sounds like a better move. » Read more: Samy and the medical degree drama

Motion to abolish ISA by MPs

Penang Deputy Chief Minister Prof P Ramasamy told Makkal Sakti supporters at the forum that the DAP would exhaust all means and ways to secure the release of the Hindraf five soon. “The DAP will surely raise the issue in the Parliament at first instance,” he said.

The best Pakatan MPs can hope for is to raise enough publicity and dissatisfaction among the public to pressure PM to “relook into the necessity and implementation” of ISA. I doubt any of the BN MPs will support the motion less they want to end up like Sothinathan or Devamany. » Read more: Motion to abolish ISA by MPs
