If temple already existed before indepedence, can application be made after building constructed? How many application has been made and rejected so far? What happened to the committee to monitor temple issues under DBKL and Perak govt?
On allegations of mistreatment of estate workers, Samy Vellu said the number of Indian estate workers had dwindled drastically, with only about 20 per cent still engaged in the plantation sector, while the rest have migrated to urban areas. “The MIC has been helping these people to get jobs and houses in towns,” he said, adding that in Kuala Lumpur alone, out of 5,000 squatters, the MIC, with the help of the Kuala Lumpur City Hall, has secured 2,000 units of houses.

MIC president Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu is willing to meet the Hindu Rights Action Force (Hindraf), a non-governmental organisation, to iron out Indian community issues and unresolved matters.
He said he was ever ready to meet any individual or organisations who were unhappy with the alleged shoddy treatment accorded to the Indians or wanted to resolve the community’s problems.
“I am always ready to listen to their views and explain to them the efforts taken by the government in resolving the woes of the Indian community,” the Works Minister said when asked by reporters if he was willing to meet Hindraf officials.
Hindraf, said to be aligned to an opposition party, submitted an 18-page memorandum to the Prime Minister’s office last Sunday on what it alleged as the marginalisation of the Indians by the government.
It also called for an end to the special privileges given to the Malay community.
While stressing that Hindraf had not approached him for a meeting, Samy Vellu said he was willing to meet them to discuss only matters concerning the Indian community.
Samy Vellu also rebutted some of the allegations made by Hindraf that the government had neglected Tamil schools and demolished hundereds of Hindu temples.
“There is no truth to such thing and I have the figures to substantiate them. Please do not make wild allegations,” he said.

Di Langkawi, Menteri Penerangan, Datuk Seri Zainuddin Maidin sependapat dengan Mohamed Nazri kerana pertubuhan itu tidak diiktiraf oleh sesiapapun.
“Bukan taraf seorang Perdana Menteri untuk bertemu dengan sebuah pertubuhan yang hina dan mempunyai taraf yang rendah kerana bertindak seperti samseng jalanan dengan melanggar undang-undang negara,†katanya kepada pemberita selepas melawat pusat media di Pameran Antarabangsa Maritim dan Udara Langkawi (LIMA) di sini, hari ini.
Zainuddin berkata, bukanlah taraf bagi seorang Perdana Menteri untuk bertemu dengan golongan yang telah menimbulkan huru-hara dan menggunakan cara kekerasan untuk mengugut kerajaan.

A great madness and shame. In the first place Hindraf asking for compensation from the British. Now they begging the British to condemn the Malaysian Government in the UN.
Hindraf ni sebenarnya mengada-ngada. Mabuk Todi ka apa. Kaum dia bukan takda yang top-top. Billionaire pun ada, menteri pun ada. Boleh katakan semuanya ada. Population hanya 8%. Dalam kabinet menteri ada 15%. Tapi dalam jail ada 60%. Cuba you all tanya diri sendiri. Siapa yang problem kalau bukan diri sendiri.
Yes just like the Malays begged the Indians & Chinese to have SOCIAL CONTRACT. Coz only then will they get independence from British.And now the Malays beg for 30% equity for FREE in NON- BUMI companies so that they can show that they too can be great bussiness magnets. They also the beg the government to bail them out with PETRONAS money when their bussiness falls…They beg for negotiated contracts becoz thay cannot directly compete for the projects. They beg for exclusive rights for bussiness licences… So please from the above examples you’ll know who are the real BEGGARS
My god. You guys seriously do not get the bigger picture here. What rights exactly do you guys want ? I`m an indian too and i`ve worked my ass off to be fortunate enough to do well and live a good and healthy life. Do you have any idea of the concequences our country will face after what Hindraf has done ? The Chinese also came to our country with the same rights as us. We were in Rubber tappin and they were doing mining. They ended up developing this areas into towns while we could only mix with the natans and be happy with estates. Are you telling me we should just sit down and wait for our so called rights to come knocking on our door ? WAKE UP INDIANS !!
I`m an indian too, mind you. Who studied hard coming from a low income family, worked part time and got PTPTN to help me out in UNI. The government doesnt stop us from developing ourselves. Only we stop ourselves from developing. Simple as that !
As for the temples, Yea la.. we are the only religion in the whole world who needs 1000 temples. Every corner in KL now has a diety and we expect the Govermnment to smile at us and say ..yea yea god is important please build more. Please la.. it`s a joke. I also pray to god but you must remember you can reach god in many different ways too. The biggest joke was that day when i say this wedding being held in front of a Tree near Brickfields – After the Police Station turning towards Midvalley. There is a huge land on our left. Someone has made that tree a place to worship too. That`s our mentality, the indian mentality.

Tambi, Samy Vellu has no say as to which contractor gets which road, bridge etc project. He just gets the project valuation and monitors. The goernment put him there yes but he has no say on most things.
You should call the Contractors as tiga suku, im not going to be a racist and say all this contractors are from this particular race but i think everyone who knows our sad state of affairs would know.
Uncle Sam has nothin to do with project allocation to contractors.

actually i wanted a better education but since i was not a particular race and nor from a rich family that was a bit hard to do… i knew a guy whom i taught the basics of my trade and due to the fact that he was of a certain race… education in that trade was a heck of alot cheaper for him…
and now he’s doing quite well…
he’s still one of my best friends and i do not envy him… i just wonder how much ppl ( i mean all ppl ) could contribute to the country if education was offered to all at that price…

to deewa i understand about staying and fighting for yr rights but look at it this way… i am not a law student but don’t u find it weird that the AG of Malaysia can consider taking attempted murder charges to 31 ppl coz he couldn’t determind which one did it… WOW…!

Who said 31 people were charged for attempted murder ? only a handful remain to assist them further. 31 were detained and some could have been charged for attempted murder.Now all are cleared because they dont have evidence. So don`t jump da GuN too soon. Why do you people always love to blow it out of proportion ?
This is another indian problem. Our mouths and ears dont work hand in hand.
Education is there for everyone. Study hard and i assure you your life will be better off. I know so many indians back in UNI who use to get tons of cash from PTPTN only to throw it away on phones, girlfriends and bikes/cars. Not realising we need to be paying it back in 20-30 years.
So ok now let`s blame the government for this and that and everything that we possibly can.
Indians need to be educated by parents first then schools.

To me, Life has a purpose. I was made for something. I won`t wait for someone to give me “special treatment” in order to achieve my dreams. I`ll get it myself and i`ll do it the right way.

that i did without a uni. education.. dont get me wrong i don’t think that so great either…
2nd – reg 31 ppl – the Ag wanted to charge them but to me its all our malaysian wayang kulit.. i am not jumping the gun so to speak.. there u have samy thank the AG when there was no reason too… The Ag had no proof… that was wat i was trying to say… but i think it the indian in u thats the problem… one day u r going to find that being an indian in this country is all not that rosy coz i have met ppl like u.. head in the sand…!
i have also met ppl who got in to trouble just because they skin color is different…
on the day of the hindraf protest, indian in the kommuter trains were ask where were they going and why… ?? that like so racist… but its ok my friend… i wish u a good life here… after all with ppl like u who don’t stand up for your rights don’t wake up one day and find yr children being treated like crap coz u were too ignorant…!

Sometimes I don’t understand the Indians at all. When those 31 Indian goondas were charges their mothers/wives/aunties/uncles were creating a scene by turning the court into a Tamil movie set by crying and making melodramatic dialogues.
Then Samy make an appeal to the PM to drop the charges and AAB agrees and ask the AG to do likewise.
But instead of showing gratitude to Samy and the PM, here you accuse them of lying and framing up these 31 Indians thugs.
Remember this is unprecedented in Malaysian history and the AG has to save his face by saying he is dropping it due to lack of evidence.
I am not sure if you just blind to these facts or you are just plain stupid.
If you ask me, I will ask the RMP to charge them as these people knew what they were doing. You think the RMP does have the evidence ? The whole demo was photographed and videotaped for you info. I did catch some of theVCDs produced by HINDRAF and it was clear that these thugs were out to hurt the police.
BTW you are saying you are having a relatively succesful biz. Wouldn’t that show that Indians do have the opportunity in the country, even for a non-grad ? Think again brother…
