Wow…RM300 million per year from 2008 till 2020? That’s 17 years, meaning RM5.1 billion! Wonder if MIC is dreaming or high! Surely they request will be rejected. Want to buy rice also problem. Petrol increasing beyond USD126/barrel. I’ll be surprised if PM approves even half the amount even once. let alone yearly.

Perhaps MIC want to use this money to regain its trust among the community. Maybe by managing a big amount, it could distribute the funds and gain support from the community.

By the way, I don’t remember reading government telling Samy not to interfere in helping to release Hindraf 5. Certainly no statement from government to that effect. Unless of course if this happened behind the scenes?

By the way, 300 million is a bit low.  At least a billion a year will be reasonable. 🙂

Waytha says British authorities told him its been “revoked”, but now Minister says it has “expired” and that Waytha is still in possession of his passport.  Which is which? Brits made mistake?

I’m curious, can Waytha be arrested if he goes to the High Commission to renew his passport?

MALACCA: The best teachers are often ones who endure great trials and tribulations simply to impart their knowledge to the next generation.  In that respect, the four recipients of Tokoh Guru 2008, which was awarded at the Teachers Day 2008 celebrations at Seri Negeri here yesterday, do not disappoint.

K. Krishnasamy’s father died when he was only 3, leaving his mother, a labourer with the Works Department and part-time milk vendor, to raise him.

Despite tremendous social and financial barriers, Krishnasamy’s perseverance and determination earned him not only career satisfaction but the national-level Tokoh Guru 2008 award.

“Teaching is a commitment. We are the candles that sacrifice ourselves to shine knowledge in the lives of younger generations,” said the 68-year-old from Selangor.
According to his wife, S. Indrani, Krishnasamy had never wanted to be anything other than a teacher.

Hmm….every year also same drama. One just have to search the Internet to see many cases of students from all races complaining about the rejection.

Why is there no solution for this problem? MIC’s Dr S.Subra suggesting automatic scholarship offer for those who get 10As and above. MCA and Gerakan still quiet as with opposition.

Transparency is the key here. People deserve to know why things happen as such. Then, they should be able to give feedback and rectify the errors or shortcomings. Unfortunately, information flow is not so free as it is worried that the public is not smart enough to understand things.

MIC’s Saravanan have come out against the revocation of Waytha’s passport. I guess other MIC people will respond likewise soon.

So far, some people from Suhakam, Suaram, Aliran, and Hindraf lawyer have disagreed with the move to cancel Waytha’s passport. All are asking for reasons. In fact the move to revoke his passport most likely will backfire since Waytha applies for asylum, clearly indication political persecution. We can expect a few more drops in popularity status and international standings. The community prays that Waytha succeeds in getting his asylum.

Hmm…maybe next step is to revoke his citizenship. Well, anything can in Bolehland!
