The Penang police took the unusual step of issuing warning that ISA may be used against those who are involved in rally tomorrow. It is widely known that there will be a rally tomorrow during the celebration of Prophet Muhammad’s birthday. This rally will be hijacked to protest against the new government. No prizes for guessing who’s behind it. The impact of such rally can be felt by one of Penang’s icons – the Nasi Kandar. One boy does part-time electrical wiring job after school, while another (13-years old) distributes phamplets to earn part – time. They come from low-income families but:

The dreams and determination of these teenagers certainly do not match the size of the house they live in.

This article is really touching. A family (Ramu) earns nearly RM1000 (He earns 500, his mom 300, and welfare department gives 160) yet still living in longhouse. Penang Hindu Endowments Board should be apolitical

The previous state government dished out the positions to politicians. The current government should not repeat the same mistake. They must set up a committee to short list and select suitable candidates to be in the board. There should be competent people well versed in religion and community issues. Politicians who lead will be seen as making skewed decisions or under influence of their political parties. I don’t think the assemblymen should be in the board.
