5As and 7As

I still remember the feeling of getting 5As for UPSR. It was like being on top of the world! The words of congratulation and the “ang pows”. Got my first and only bicycle – red color BMX which lasted for 7 odd years. Being the first person to get excellent UPSR result among family members of both side does have its benefits 🙂

And now cousin Darshini (SK) and niece Lingges (SJKT) have done their parents proud by getting 5As and 7As respectively. Well done! Hope you girls will go on to achieve better things in life.

PS: bunyi macam angkat bakul sendiri!

As we wait to start the day (its 2.26am now) with renewed vigor and joy, let us not forget those who celebrate Deepavali amidst much suffering and shortcomings.

To all Malaysian Hindus, Happy Deepavali. Deepavali Valthukal!

In times of economic uncertainties and sign of social solidarity, let us celebrate Deepavali in its true sense. Moderate expenses and quiet appreciation of God’s blessings, hopefully will be your choice.

Let us pray for those who suffer for us, and for those who stand for us. Let us unite with one voice, one action.

Oh ya, SAY NO TO ALCOHOL. Make this Deepavali alcohol free.

PS: The 10 concerned Indians arrested while accompanying a 6-year old kid to invite Prime Minister to Deepavali open house were release on Deepavali eve at 1.30pm.

My First Earning from Blogging

Thank you guys and gals! Drop by more often and don’t forget to click on those ads! 🙂

My total earning from Nuffnang ads from mid 2007 till July 2008 just came in the mail:

Nuffnang First Cheque

Apologies for blocking out certain information on the document. Just to increase a bit of privacy. As for the amount, I leave to you to guess 🙂

To tell the truth, I did not expect to get any money from blogging. Just added some Google, Nuffnang, and Advertlet ads after I started blogging since last year. Two events received high number of visitors, resulting in advertisements that pay more per click. The two events were Hindraf rally in November 2007 and the General Elections in March 2008. Other than that, I have regular stream of visitors on weekdays and about half of the average on weekends.

I’ve not checked on Google Adsense since I doubt it will be more than few US dollars, while I gave up on Advertlets after Nuffnang offered Gliterati status or something. Anyway, not that my life depended on earnings from advertisements or blogging.

Blogging for me is to fulfill my own needs – talk about community and socio-politics. Obviously if you blog about sensational stuff or products, you tend to get higher number of visitors. Or you can be a well known personality like TDM who hit 1,000,000 visitors in a very short period (I’m still in the thousands- duh!).

In the very near future, I’ll be restructuring this blog, and perhaps start a new one. Having movies, travels, and personal evetns together with socio-politics, education, and community topics doesn’t really gel. I’ve been neglecting the movie reviews for quite some time now.

Once again, Thank you! Nandri! Terimaaaaaaa Kaaaasih!

At last!!! Free from paying rent and can sleep under own roof (well, if we leave out the house loan). Finally moved in to new house on 1st September morning.
It was an hectic week since last Monday, so no blogging for me for nearly 7 days.
Since TM is not obliging enough to provide telephone line, looks like blogging will be sporadic for a while.

While we are at it, can “pendatangs” (immigrants) celebrate Merdeka?
