For 2009, I started a section on education help from March till June. However, I continue to receive inquiries on education-related topics, and may be opening a separate blog/website on that later. Meanwhile, I decided to start the education help earlier, starting this month. I’ve also opened a Facebook Page, so readers who use FB can check out updates there.
Due to the length of the information, I’ve split the content of this page into 6 categories. Refer the categories below.
indicates information updated in the last 2 weeks.

hello sir.
sir, i need a little help on how to prepare a testimonial on the behalf of a teacher. i approached my teachers asking their favour for a testimonial but they asked me to pepare it instead and they would just approve it with their signature. so, how do i prepare one? do you have any examples? what are the info and details that i should include in it? urgently needed sir. is it possible if sir can send the details as an e-mail?
thank you sir.
hi kesavartni,
the best place is to search the internet. there’s loads of free samples. you can also refer to http://www.jobstreet.com.my, http://www.studymalaysia.com, and so on.
basically, a testimonial is a reference to a person’s character. so, it should state personal details: name, dob, mykad, address, contact info, etc. Then it should cover academic qualifications – what you got in SPM. THEN, it should cover your ko-ko activities. THEN, its should have an opinion of the student, for example: The student had exhibited exemplary attitude towards achieving her goals in terms of academic excellence. She had also displayed leadership qualities while serving in her position as captain of the school hockey team and member of the debate team. She is able to work in a group and communicate effectively with fellow students and teachers alike. blah blah blah… THIS should be about 5-10 lines of self-appreciation (angkat bakul sendiri la).
Hi sir,
Im a stpm private candidate..and im really worried about my paper 4.. I don’t have any idea about paper 4. Can u help me in this case sir??
Thanks & Regards,
-Gina-
Hi gina,
so far, i too have not received any info on the paper 4.
Dear Sir,
I am a little bit confused about the course. I have an offer from both curtin university at sarawak and also nottingham university at semenyih. Curtin offer me chemical engineering while nottingham offer me chemical and environmental engineering. Which one is better sir?? Should i choose courses or choose university? both courses i like but which one of the university is better in this course? really confused..
hi confused,
both are good courses and good universities. so, up to you. environmental engineering may give you a wider option of jobs.
@poobalan, hi sir,
but the thing is the will it be more nice to take specific courses like chemical engineering only. because i see the subjects that should be taken by both courses. The chemical and environmental engineering will deduct some subjects to replace environmental subjects. when i come out to work will this affect me? will the company think that I’m not a professional at all?
confused,
it won’t affect you much. only thing need to consider is that your degree is recognised by relevant bodies/organisations. you can check with both uni if their degree is recognised by Board of Engineers or those organisations related to environmental studies and so on.
hi sir ,
i had a problem .
i only get 2credit in stpm . do i still have a chance to get in local U?
veron,
you need minimum 3Cs. and closing date already over for IPTA application.
hai… i wnt 2 apply medic course in singapore@indonesia@ brunei…so how cn i apply it????????tell me… as soon as pssble k for this middle take.
lulu,
u have to apply directly to them. if you need help, i sugges you use the services of placement agencies. there’s a list of such companies at:
http://poobalan.com/blog/education-help/websites/
i wnt 2 apply medic course but i dnt know how 2 apply it..tell me as soon as pssble k! im 18 years old…
i would like to know when the upu results will be out??
hi thana,
expect the results to be out in end of may or early june. uni intake is first week of july.
I got 4A+,3A,1A- and 2b+ in my spm. Unfortunately, the two subject are my biology and physics papers. i didn’t expect it . Really. Because usually i did very well in my school exam for this two papers.at first, i plan to take health science course, for example pharmacy, dentistry, medicine or maybe biochemist. But, my plan can’t be a reality since my science result extremely terrible. I need your advice ,do you think i should continue form 6,i mean taking science stream and see whether i could make a difference? I”m afraid that i will dissapoint myselt and also my parents again. They just say that i had did my best and congrats me but i know they are very dissapointed.Actually,i like maths too, i think maybe i can futher my studies in this field but my dears parents say what can i do after i finish my studies. Is it true that there are no any secure job in this field? What about accounting? is it good? since i like maths and i took this additional subject too in my spm.what is your opinion if i futher my studies in accounting? Plese help and thank you very very much.
hi charmane,
i don’t think its a terrible result! in fact since you got b+ for biology and your chemistry is most likely an A, then you can still continue to your health science field. BUT you have to study in IPTS or foreign uni. so, if this option is acceptable, then just proceed.
or as you said can do STPM and give it a try. but remember that you’ll need 4As to even think about medicine and even then its not guaranteed as need to compete with matric and other STPM top scorers.
maths based careers are obviously not as much as healthcare or accounting industry. you can work in education line, research, financial companies, etc.
as for accounting, if you took it in SPM, AND if you LIKE the subject, yeah you can consider that option. accountants have good career prospects and always in demand. and similar like doctors, accountants can open their own business.
@poobalan,
Thank you for your advice and for spending time answering my question. However,i have a few more question to ask you. If i plan to take accounting,i must take art stream in stpm? OR is there other way? what are the subjects and how many As i must achieve in order for me to be qualified as a scholarship recipient? To be honest to you,i have a twin sister. My parents expect maybe one of us receive scholarship to lighten my family financial burden.IF both, then is much better but i think unlikely because my sister result is almost same as me. She score 5A+,3A- and 2B+.Her B+ subjects are biology and physics too. I have apply for many scholarship ,for example JPA,yayasan tenaga nasional and UEM,however i was not shortlisted,so so sad. Recently,i receive offer from tung shin for an interview in diploma sponsorship pharmacy programme, but i’m not sure whether to attend or not.Dear Sir,does tung shin have a strong pharmacy program? is it good? what about KPJ? Actually applicants are bonded for 6 years in tung shin, but the problem is it only offer till diploma. Can i continue my studies in degree while working with them? But HOW? i also apply for IPTA and Bank negara, when can i check my status? Really sori for asking so many question.Hope doesn’t bother you. Thank you.
hi charmane,
1. yes, you have to takes arts stream in F6 because you need accounts subject. no point taking mix of science and arts because there’s only maximum 4 subjects (minus PA) and the mixed combination won’t be useful for further studies.
2. other way – take any subject in F6. but after that, if you still want to study accounting, you have to start from scratch (and thus consider wasted 2 years in F6) if didn’t take accounts in STPM.
2. another way – go to IPTS and take diploma accounting or LCCI certificate. you can try for segi or utar which are quite ok. after diploma, continue degree and/or ACCA. OR, you can straight enrol in foundation studies and then enter degree program after 1 year.
3. to get shortlisted for scholarship you’ll need at least 8As at SPM or 3As at STPM. and be active in activities, and preferably from average income or low income family.
4. i’m not sure if tung shin have a strong program, but they have their own hospital so should be ok. but only problem is 6 year bond. i think others offer 5 years or less. KPJ also ok.
5. i’m not sure if the provider will allow you to further study. most likely it will be up to their discretion after you finished diploma. if they need a degree level staff, then may be will sponsor you. if they just need diploma level staff, then you will be working for them. i don’t remember any part-time pharmacy course, so your option is to pay off the bond or serve the time.
i think Bank negara is out this weekend, while IPTA expected end of may.
hello sir,
im sharmila.i had jas finished my spm.i obtained 3 A’s in spm and the unsatisfied thing is i got E in maths and i fail in my add maths.now i dont know which course to enter.i dont have a right person to guide me sir.until now i had applied for politeknik and IPTA.my parents cannot afford to send me to private colleges because father had retired and mum is not working.if i get private college also how to apply for scholarships.i need scholarships to cover my accomandations also ,maybe parents can give me money for food.please advise me ,where shall i go and which course to enter sir.please email it to my email address.i realy need your help sir.thank you.
hi sharmila,
firstly, resit the maths paper and aim for credit at least. make sure your bm, english and one science subject is having credit at least.
since you applied for poli and IPTA, wait for the results. poli result out on 8 may, while IPTA is end of may.
as for scholarship, you know its hard for even students with 10As to get one.
the best option (if can’t get ipta/poli) is to enrol in diploma in IPTS and take PTPTN loan. many students work and study at same time, doing simple part-time jobs like teaching, waitering, sales, etc.
Sir, does Management and Science University MSU University have MQA approval ??
hi uwareshwara,
why not you confirm it yourself to be sure? 🙂 go to:
http://www.mqa.gov.my/p_pelajar.cfm (check both e-semakan and the Daftar Kelayakan)
remember, that approval is for each course, not a whole IPTS.
hi,
sir can you explain me the way how to calculate the CGPA for foundation course ?
hi suresh
i guess it would be the same as any other system. by right, the program counselor, admin, dean, lecturer or some other staff should have explained this clearly. i’ll take it you are not yet enrolled in any program, and just curious to find. otherwise, if you are a student, i would be disappointed.
each subject will have a grade (A to E usually). for each grade, there will be points and credits. points range from 4 (for A) to 0 (for E or F). the more points means better results. Credit means how “heavy” or “important” the subject is, and usually related to the teaching hours per week for that subject. credit can be 1,2,3,4,5,6 or even more.
CGPA is total of (credit x points of each subject) divide by the total credits.
example:
subject1 (3 credit and A -4.0)
subject2 (2 credit and B 3.0)
subject3 (2 credit and A- 3.7)
CGPA is [(3×4 + 2×3 + 2×3.7)/ (3+2+2)] = 3.63 (rounded to 2 decimal points).
maximum CGPA is 4.0 (meaning got A for all subjects). for degree or diploma programs, a CGPA of 3.7 above is usually considered first class.
sir,
thanks for you explanation for how to calculate the CGPA.
sir i`m not uni/college students.
i`m get study pre -medical in segi UC but not now july intake before i`m start my studies i try to collect the extra details.
thanks sir.
ok, all the best.
sir,i gt 4A in stpm.is it difficult to get teaching course at usm
hi jaga,
it not only depends on results but also the munsyi test.
sir,,but 4 teaching course no need sit 4 munysi rite..only medsi rite
right santhana, my mistake – i got the two mixed up. medsi is for teaching course, while munsyi is for all programs.
Dear sir,
1.when can i check my status for yayasan Simedarby? What wedsite should i log in.
2.i thought Bank Negara result out last weekend. but,how come i can’t find anything when i log in to their website. Can you give me the correct website to check my status.
Thank you,sir.
hi dot,
for both the scholarships, they will contact if shortlisted. for sime darby, you can email them at scholarships@simedarby.com while for BNM, call/email them at 03-26915963 or scholar@bnm.gov.my

hi siva,
where do you want to apply in the first place?
secondly, your science subject marks are not good, so it will be a challenge. if you have at least 3 credit, then you can consider diploma program. if not, you have to take a certificate course first.
im a science stream student but for my science subjects i have obtained credits only .What do you think about my chances in getting science courses in ipta ? I have also applied for tesl and management course in ipta . so do you have any advice in choosing courses .
hi daashini,
even though you got only credits, still have a slim chance depending on the courses you applied, how many other students applied for the same course, and the number of seats available.
since the deadline is over, you can’t do anything other than wait for IPTA results to be announced.
Dear sir,
1.Do you know when can the applicants check their status for Yayasan Sime Darby?
2.I heard that form 6 class will be starting from 10 Mei,is it true?
3.I thought that Bank Negara result out already, but how come i can’t find when log in to their website? do you know the website? Can you please kindly reply to me if you know?
4.Normally,if someone had completed his or her diploma course in pharmacy and plan to further studies in degree, how many years required to be able to be a degree holder and what is the cost ?
Thank you for spending time reply me.
hi cristine,
1. not sure on this . they will contact if shortlisted. for sime darby, you can email them at scholarships@simedarby.com
2. i think in end of may or early june, but not official news yet.
3. just like sime darby, the BNM will contact the shortlisted candidates. i searched also and couldn’t find the website for checking. you can contact them by call/email them at 03-26915963 or scholar@bnm.gov.my
4. i think it will take extra 2 years, but it also depends on few factors – basically the place where you want to continue with degree will next to check you diploma results and subject syllabus before deciding which year/semester in degree program you can enter. usually its between 2-3 years extra. cost – will be 50-70% of the program course (depending also which semester you join). so if the program cost rm100k, then expect anywhere from 50-70k at least.
hai sir,is ter any mied president award for the last year top achievers.
kogi,
so far no news yet on this. mied is having some court case issue.
sir can u tel me about the short term courses in malaysia for one year
hi vidya,
what is it you want to know about? there’s many areas to study under short courses – from baking to electrical wiring. some have professional certs while others are just to pick up some knowledge.
@poobalan, can u list up all the short term courses
vidya,
i think it will take months if not years 🙂
dear sir,
i;m a spm leaver and i’ thinking about taking culinary course but they are quite a lot of universities and college that offering them, I would like to hear your suggestions on where is the best place for me to go. I check a few place like KDU, they offer that course with a Switzerland diploma cert but it’s will cost me around 46k which i clearly couldn’t afford to pay, although i can apply for ptptn it will only cover for the tuition fees up to 24k and the balance are still too much for me, INTI college also offer that course with fees around 30k and still that quite a lot of money for me and there’s Taylor college which offer a french diploma in culinary arts which again gonna cost me a fortune. So basically my concern is the fees and whether the cert is recognized internationally,I’m the third child in the family and i have two older brother and two younger sister, including me there is four of us that are still studying and the other one will start working this June,i personally not sure whether my mother alone can afford to pay for those fees since she’s a single mom so i really like to hear any suggestions from you cause i really need some help here..please sir.
hi hassan,
i’m not sure about the best place as that’s quite subjective. each college will tell that it has won this or that award and is linked to some prestigious universities overseas. kdu, taylors, berjaya, inti, etc..got many of them.
tertiary education is expensive in private sector. PTPTN can’t cover the cost of most courses. Furthermore, you are looking at the famous/popular colleges where the fees will be higher. why not look at the less popular ones?
Dear Sir,
Still rmb this school leaver??Haha
Im jus finished MUET exam as private candidate n felt easy than last year indeed…Hehe
Now im on the way hardworking for my stpm exam end of this yr…
So i would like to ask if i choose
-PA
-BM
-Pengajian Perniagaan
-Geografi
in my stpm, can i get a place in financial related course in local uni if my result is ok??
Thanks..
Sco leaver..
you should take economy and/or accounts instead of geografi if you want to focus on financial related courses.
Well, actually I had considered taking economics b4 but seems this subject is too hard for me as a private student… And I found that geografi is more easier than eco, so i take it…
But now i worried cos there is no such packages offered in school, so I scare i cant get a place in local uni later.even i put so much effort cos the package is nt recognised??.
Actually, any recommended course under this package except perniagaantani??
hi,
its not a good idea to take “easy” subjects because the combination may not provide good options in degree program. you have to be careful coz not many programs require geography as core subject. i can’t think of any degree with those combination you mentioned. you have to check the programs at UPU website one by one.
hai sir,i gt 4A in stpm.i wan to continue my studies in teaching field..is ter any scolarship for tat..
hi kogi,
have you applied for IPTA? to do teaching you have to get a place in local IPTA or study in unisel or unitar.
Hai Sir,i have a few questions to ask you.
1. If i take science stream A-level and want to be a pharmacist in future, what subjects should i take? Can i just take chemistry and biology?I think a pharmacist don’t need physics, right?
2.After i finish my A-level,can i straight away go for my degree. what is the total course duration? because i heard that if take diploma then go for degree in pharmacy is a waste of time,is it true?
3.Can you recommend me some college or any bank which offer scholarship for students who want to continue degree in pharmacy? What merit i have to achieve?
4.if i want to be a pharmacy lecturer, what should i do after i get my degree?
5.Do every student eligible to appiy for PTPTN loan? My friend received 6 credit in her spm,can she apply?
6.If i choose other way which is to study stpm and take degree in pharmacy, what subjects should i take in stpm for science stream?
7.what is the minimum requirement for someone who want to study for stpm? Cannot more than 18 aggregate, that is what i heard from my friend. But,what consider not more than 18?
Please reply and thank you very much.
1. different uni have different requirement. some say you need chemistry, maths, and/or physics/bio. so, its hard to say that you need just chemistry and bio. you must take at least 3 subjects for a-levels.
2. degree program is 4 years. if you take diploma and then continue with degree, it will be extra 1.5 to 2 years, depending on the uni.
3. you can refer this blog for scholarships, but most scholarships have closed. bank list also in this blog. you can always apply for ptptn.
4. you should continue doing a master degree after finishing bachelor degree, if you want to be a lecturer.
5. yes, as long as the student is enrolled in a MQA-registered program, have 3 credits in SPM, pass BM in SPM, and have a valid guarantor (parent).
6. stpm is similar to a-levels requirements. you take chemistry, bio, maths and/or physics, and PA.
sir im thila here
im stpm leaver on 2005 n i wanna apply for IPTA maybe by nextyear
so do you think that they will offer me any courses that i applied
hi thila,
the chance to get a place is there, but very slim as you have to compete with students from 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2009.
@poobalan, that means stpm leaver of 2006,2007 and 2008 will gt the places first ??
i think you get equal chance, but just to highlight that there’s a big group of people who will be applying just like you.
@thila,
sir i gt one cousin wic retake back her stpm only one paper
so how can she apply
hi thila, i think she need to go to PPD – pejabat pendidikan daerah to get more on how to register. but she has to study on own.
hello sir,i’m maha here…
recently my fren applied for degree in biotec(utar),she got B for pa,C for bio n chemi in stpm…but she recieve offr lttr frm utar stating tat she hv to do foundation 1st coz bio nt strong…i also got de same result in stpm as ma fren…nw i’m considering othr collg to do ma degree in biotech,i aldy checked AIMST but lots of comments were being tld, both +ve n -ve…is’t safe to pursue ma stdys thr or do u recomm any othr collgs which meet de entry requirement for ma result?
hi maha,
i can’t really recommend colleges unless really clearly good. most colleges are in the “lebih kurang” category, because in the end, they are businesses running for profit. there are other colleges than utar or aimst that offer biotech, so i suggest you visit at least 5 colleges before deciding.
hi sir, I’m a SPM leaver i would like to ask
1) is there anymore scholarships available or will colleges reopen their scholarship for later intakes?(eg.july, aug, sept) as I’ve missed most of the march datelines.
2) i’ve registered for form6 in case i didnt get any scholarships and previously i was a science stream student and due to the fact that in form 6 all non-science related topics are in malay, i will be continuing in form 6 science stream and yet i dont feel like pursuing science-related topics when i’m in Uni. is it okayy?
hi ming,
1) most scholarships are offered in view of IPTA and IPTS intakes, so the number of scholarship offered after may will be very much less. if you missed it, then can’t do much. as for IPTS, they will offer discounts, fee waivers, internal scholarships based on your results. so, you may have a chance with IPTS.
2) form 6 have started and i suppose you have attended class. if you take science stream in STPM, there are not many options in IPTA if you plan to study non-science course. so, my advice is to think carefully on what’s your interest/ambition is.
hai mr poobalan..
im glad to c ur blog coz it help students like us alot
btw, i just finished my stpm last year.. was in science stream., but my results were too bad.. my cgpa is 1.33 only.. i realy interested to pursue my degree in dietetics.. but my pointer is far behind as local uni need cgpa 3.0 above..
therefore i plan to do other pre-u course.. most probably SAM..starting from june..
so do u have any advice/guidance for me..???
hi mryo,
glad to hear that you find it helpful 🙂
you CGPA is indeed a problem because IPTA intake is quite high standards especially for courses which are in demand.
since you have your ambition fixed, and the IPTA route is not available, then only options are either take IPTS route or resit SPTM. if you take IPTS route (a-levels, foundation, SAM, CPU, ADTP, IB etc.), then i guess you have to survey around for relevant colleges. since you specifically mentioned SAM, i guess you want to continue to do a degree affiliated with an australian uni. regardless of whether you choose SAM, CPU, or A-Levels, the important thing is to study well and get excellent results.
sir….could u pls help me…im really confused right now..im a 18 year old guy whom finished my spm last year and this is my result

the problem is i dont know where to move right now..ive applied for various of courses but there is no any favourable reply so far..what im suppose to do now..im really into aviation..and i would like to seek your advice on which course should i take based on that specify line(aviation)…and could you pls suggest where could i take up those courses…or is there any other courses that you reckon me to take up based on my results…thx sir
hi veyvein,
your results are quite ok with 5As. to do aviation, you can focus on aircraft maintenance, aeronautical engineering, avionics or aerospace studies. there are a number of colleges that offer aircraft maintenance, but i don’t remember any IPTS offering the other programs. Only IPTA like USM, UITM and UTM offers those programs.
for aircraft maintenance, you can try searching at afterschool.my or studymalaysia.com.my websites to identify which IPTS offer such programs.
i think since you are focused on aviation, just stick with it. your results are quite general, so you can go into IT, engineering, and science programs as well.
Hi sir,
My one of the upu choice is sejarah offer in UMS. May I know what are the jobs will get if i take that course?
hi loges,
why did you apply without knowing the job opportunity?
potential jobs: writer, editor, historian, tutor, lecturer (after doing postgraduate), politician, social scientist, …and maybe few other careers.
Dear sir,
1.if want to study medicine, beside become a doctor, can i become a lecturer?
2.what path i have to go through? can i take a foundation in science then continue my degree then take bachelor or MBA? just this three stage right?
please kindly reply and thank you.
charmance,
1. yes you can, but most, if not all, universities would prefer lecturers who actually have experience of being a doctor for some time. in order to be a lecturer, you will need to do your postgraduate studies (which may take about 2-3 years after the degree). no point being a lecturer when you yourself never worked as a doctor, right?
2. foundation/a-levels/SAM/STPM/other pre-u -> degree (MBBS/MD) -> work -> postgraduate. there’s not MBA involved, unless you want to teach management subjects.
thx sir and i would like to ask you another thing…do u think that taking piloting course is good sir?….thx sir..really appreciate it..
yup, its a good field as plenty of pilots needed all around the world.
i want to do nursing in diploma i have 5 credits.where can i apply for government nursing college.
hi vilaasini,
you can refer to Kementerian Kesihatan or http://www.spa.gov.my but at the moment, i haven’t seen any info on the application dates.
i have only one credit in my spm. what course can i do and where? Please help me ….
hi rathi,
you most likely should resit SPM or study mlvk programs. there are plenty of colleges that offer mlvk programs. find one near your home.
hi,
i already replied saying the possible jobs are :writer, editor, historian, tutor, lecturer (after doing postgraduate), politician, social scientist, …and maybe few other careers.
sry sir, i jus saw ur reply. thanks a lot sir.
hi.
1.is SEGI an ideal college to take up accountancy course? i discover that after finishing the bachelor in accounting and finance, the student can do the ACCA? is that necessary ? what are the benefits if continue study that or it will be enough to study until bachelor ?is it better to take accounting and finance than just take accountancy?
2. could you please kindly tell me what are the job oppurtunities someone who graduate from accountancy and finance and how much can he or she earn? i heard that one can set up own business
but what kind of business?
3.my sister has a very huge interest in biology ,chemistry and mathematics. She likes mathematics very much. However, i rarely see college or university which offer only mathematics.Do you know one ?But,she is okay to further her studies in courses which are related to the subject she likes. She wants to do probably biomedical, biotechnology or maybe science and mathematics. In your opinion, which course should she pursue or maybe you have a better idea ? Can you please share with me.
4.If she wants to do biomedical, what are the job oppurtunities? How much can she earn(what i maen is the basic)? which college or university have a very strong biomedical course? If there is,please recommend . thanks a million.
5.are biomedical same with biochemistry? Can she consider it too ?
AND what are the job lines and salary after graduate as a degree holder?
6.my friend will migrate to Japan after finishing her stpm. Can she continue her study or work there with that cert? because she told me that stpm can only use in local. i want to help her to find out .
thank you so much. very very appreciate.
hi dot,
1. segi is quite well known for accounting program, so yeah, its a good choice. ACCA and bachelor degree are two separate streams. one is academic (degree) and the other is professional. academic means offered by university, while professional means offered by an reputable and authoritative institution. Both can get you a job in accounting. ACCA is globally recognised while a degree is dependent on the giving university. some colleges/uni offer students who do degree to to top up a few subjects and earn ACCA as well. the choice is your, but i feel having ACCA is flexible in terms of global employment. same goes with accounting+finance compared to accounting. learning accounting+finance gives you a wider choice of jobs since you can enter finance related work.
2. well, jobs would cover finance aspects such as finance executive, tax management, risk management, loan/credit management, asset management, financial analyst, sales, consultant, and also accounting work like accounts executive. salary wise, if you get a good result in degree, accounts/finance grad can earn up to rm2500 or more as fresh graduate. set up own business? well if your are fresh grad a bit difficult to handle consultant jobs. more grads work a few year to gain experience and contacts. once stable, they open their own financial consultant firms or accounting firm.
3. i can’t remember such IPTS offering maths major. from my search, i found OUM, UNISEL and UTAR (utar is maths with applied computing). you can also consider statistics or business maths courses. some IPTS/IPTA offer degree in science and majoring in maths. to be frank, career opportunity for maths are not so much but will be a good job since focused area. problem is getting a job. she may need to focus on research or teaching in IPTS or IPTA as career. as for biomedic or biotech, both are evolving and have good prospect.
4. to read about biomedical, just goggle in wikipedia or read about the careers in afterschool.my or studymalaysia.com . i can’t say about which college is good or strong in this fields coz not much of info.
5. both are different. read up in wikipedia and you notice that one is focused on health while the other is on cellular research.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biomedicine
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biochemistry
generally, a good degree graduate (2nd upper or 1st class) can get more than rm2200 salary. good engineering degree earns about rm2500. fresh grad pharmacist, dentists, and doctors earn 3.5 to 4.2k due to govt salary rate increase recently.
6. i’m not sure if STPM is recognised to get a job because its basically a pre-u qualification. can continue to study of of course. best if she checks with japanese embassy personally to avoid any problems and worries later. as you know, some people do end up as illegals in japan due to agents or wrong planning or without proper qualifications.

hi priya,
IPTA results already out two weeks ago. didn’t you check?
i think you can do well in form 6 due to your results which are excellent. just maintain the hard work, stay focused, and be confident.
thank you for your help.i just have two more question to ask you.
1.is SEGI recognised by government? How then considered recognised?
2.the KPLSPM call me for interview. Should i attempt the interview? So so confused because my friend say earn very little .But, they offer me mathematics programmed which i like. However, only teach primary school.
3. I scored 8A and 2B for my spm. The 2B are my science subjects. Actually,i did registered form 6,and plan to take science stream. However, i changed my mind yesterday, because my teacher said that art stream can earn more than science stream ,unless you aim very good course .For example ,medicine ,dental and pharmacy. But, i also heard that to be able to get a place in public U, you must scored very good WHICH IS 4AS,and that also not guarantee that you will have a place in public U. So, am i making a right decision which is to take art stream? please advise. PLEASE REPLY. thank you for replying.
dot,
1. recognised in the sense that its a registered education provider under Jabatan Pendidikan Swasta of Ministry of higher Education. If you are talking about accreditation, remember that its for a course, not for the whole college/uni. to check accreditation, visit http://www.mqa.gov.my and see if the program is certified or not.
2. KPLSPM is memang for primary school teacher. you should have known before applying. its much sought after because many ppl want to be teachers. in fact, i think more or less 100,000 people apply, but only 4000 or so places available for teachers yearly. what is your definition of “earn very little”? school teachers are now degree holders, so would earn about rm2400 at least depending on where they are posted. teaching is an honorable job and not many people can do it well. if you are not interested or passionate about teaching, i strongly suggest you think carefully about this career path.
3. i think something is wrong with your teacher’s explanation. studying and a career is not about earning money only. and its definitely incorrect to say arts student earn more or earn less than science stream students. the path you take is just a step to earn degree and get a job. what you do after you graduate, how you plan your career will determine the earning you make. so, i strongly disagree with what your teacher said. maybe he/she simplified the idea that “doing business has the highest capability to earn money” into “arts stream students earn more”. doing business can be done by anybody. bill gates was university drop out. lim goh tong was illiterate. many millionaires and billionaires started business from scratch, working hard, and taking risks. imagine, hundreds of thousands of people graduate from US, India, China, Russia etc yearly. do all of them become millionaires or rich? there are also similarly hundreds of thousands of school dropouts. do all of them end up poor, become criminals or work in low paying jobs?
i agree that to enter IPTA for the critical courses, nothing less than 4A is needed. its same for arts stream! you want to study law, accounting, need at least 3As to enter the top IPTA like UM.
i strongly suggest not to make your choice based on “how much i can earn” because you can be a doctor and still live in relative poverty due to bad money management, unhealthy lifestyle, etc.
Hi sir ,i got 5 credits in spm bm ,bi ,maths ,accounts, and science. but i am interested to study nursing in govnment hospital…can u help me sir… THANK YOU SIR
hi, as i have said earlier, apply at http://www.spa.gov.my for kursus separa perubatan (latihan jururawat).
Hi sir,i want to ask you something about education. Do you know that there are how many periods of Bahasa Malaysia in a week for both chinese and SK school primary school. And, do you know there are how many periods of mathematics in SK primary school? Thanks for the information.
hi beng,
i’m not sure about this. give me some time and i’ll ask around. also, can you specify for which year (1,2,3,4,5 or 6).
hi,
Sir i`m interest to do mbbs in masterskill in sep intake but their get redy the approval from Malaysian Medical Council and Ministry of Health but their say their still waiting for the approval from the MQA for the entry requirement and fees chargable also.
Sir MQA and LAN approval Is same or difference ?
Why their still wait for MQA approval?
thanks.
LAN’s new name is MQA. MQA approval is needed to ensure the quality of the course is recognised. if not MQA, can’t get PTPTN loan. if no MMC, can’t work. if not JPA, can’t work in govt.
hi sir,
first, my hearty congrats for doing such a great, fantastic job in helping students.
i just finished my spm. results are ok, with 5 As. physics- C, chem – B, bio – C+. Im interested in pharmacy. rejected for the matriculation program. what other pathway to do a degree in Pharmacy? not keen on doing stpm. kindly help.
ash,
i doubt 5As can get a place in matriculation, unless you are from poor family and very active in school activities (or you parents got some contact somewhere).
anyway, next step is to enrol in a foundation program in colleges that offer degree in pharmacy (got about 7 or so IPTS). alternatively, you can do a pre-u (like a-levels) or diploma in pharmacy. these options are if you are not really sure on taking up pharmacy. if you already fixed your mind, the continue with foundation program.
hai, mr poobalan
i’m a spm leaver and i’m intrested to become a aeronautical engineer.I had obtain 3A-,3B,4C,1D in spm.i want to know about the demand of aeronutical field in future, and the institution that provided an aeronautical course in local & overseas.
hi tamil,
aeronautical is a good field and will be in demand in future. you should get strong results in physics, maths, english, add maths, chemistry.
locally, there’s utm and usm among iptas. if overseas, i think not possible to list because there 220 countries in the world, and i doubt can cover them before i get grey hairs.
Dear sir.
i just would like to know that, is it true that there are some art streams students are studying Medicine in Overseas and come back Malaysia and work for MMC?
Regards
Anesh
hi anesh,
i also heard of such stories, but don’t have real proof. anyway, i think that if the students can study science subjects and meet the requirements set by the uni, then shouldn’t be a problem. some arts streams students, may take science subjects in a-levels or foundation in science before proceeding to science degree.
anyway, one don’t work for MMC. MMC is in charge of validating the degree of the doctor so that the doctor can obtain license to work in malaysia.
hello sir,i’m a STPM leaver i just obtain a CGPA of 2.67.I obtain A- in PENGAJIAN AM,B- in PHYSICS,C+ in CHEMISTRY and C in MATHEMATICS.I would like to further my studies on electrical and electronic engineering. i just have this question regarding cambridge a level examination.

released?
because the university that i’m intending to go has february intake so it is required to have the results before that.
thank you.
hi anusha,
i think it takes two months, but pls check with the college as well. if you planning to further study in february, it will be tight indeed.
sir…
cn u help me to gv some instruction in how to do resume???plz…
hi aishu,
its quite easy. if you are using Microsoft Word, there’s few templates in it as well. you can also just search in google. there are hundreds of examples.
basically it should have your personal details, academic achievement, co-curricular achievements, hobbies/interests, work experience (if related), professional memberships (if related), your career plan/ambition statement, reference/contact person etc.
