For 2009, I started a section on education help from March till June. However, I continue to receive inquiries on education-related topics, and may be opening a separate blog/website on that later. Meanwhile, I decided to start the education help earlier, starting this month. I’ve also opened a Facebook Page, so readers who use FB can check out updates there.

Hello sir I got straight As in my SPM (7A+,1A.2A-)
I am really interested in radiography hence i want to study diploma in medical imaging at INTI or MAHSA.But i’m not sure which one of the institute z the best in teaching the course.
is there any scholarship available that cover everything like tuition fees,accomodation fees and living allowance?
I’ve looked up into jpa scholarship information but unfortunately they don’t provide it for medical imaging or radiography courses.

there’s one (uni darul iman) under IPTA.
if IPTS, then you can ask for their scholarship since you got excellent results. why not do a foundation and later do a degree in medical/bio field. both mahsa and inti would offer scholarships so try them. i can’t say which is better since i’m not familiar with either.
refer to Scholarship page of this blog and see which can cover your course. you can try sime darby or those related to hospitals.

i assume you took bio and got either a or b. overall, you sciences subjects are weak results, so engineering is probably a bad option. you can go for some bio based programs. or look at IT, management, law, language, arts, and so on.
you can consider politeknik, IPTA (diploma for non-bumi and foundation/diploma for bumiputra) or IPTS.

the matrix application results are not out yet,most probably it would be in the end of march or beginning of april. i have finally opted to do diploma in medical lab tech via ptptn loan in any ipts if i dont get any place in ipta, polytechnic or matrix. so sir, which ipts is the best? would you please recommend some?

that’s a tough question – which is best ipts. all will claim they are best. i can only suggest that you visit the ipts and check out the facilities. if can talk to the students or ask around who is studying where. some options: nilai, mahsa, segi, msu, ptpl, inti, klmu, unikl.

teaching and lecturing is two different field. which is it you want to be? teaching is in school, while lecturers work in uni/colleges. for teaching in school, you will need a degree in education OR postgrad diploma in education+degree in relevant field. to work in uni/college, you’ll need a masters degree in maths (if you want to be maths lecturer) at the very minimum. some colleges do hire people with bachelor degree but to teach a-levels, foundation programs students.
SO, if you want to work in schools, then STPM->UPSI is one way. 2nd way, you can try for maktab perguruan for degree to teach in PRIMARY School. this program still open, check my Application page.
if you want to be IPTS uni/college lecturer, you can enrol in IPTS and do foundation, and then degree.
if you want to be IPTA lecturer, then STPM, followed by degree in IPTA recognised uni.

3As is most likely unable to secure scholarships. people with 7 or 8 As themselves also find it difficult, so i think you have to be realistic.

your science subjects are all C, but do you have the interest in dentistry or dietetics? if yes, then you have to consider taking foundation in sciences or a-levels.
many courses are in demand in malaysia, because every job is important. police, doctor, teacher, engineer, IT, accountant, marketing, entrepreneur, and so on.

congrats on your results. you should try all the possible scholarships and hope for the best. both doctor and mechanical engineering have good prospect, while actuarial science is a specialised field for jobs in certain industry only.

well if you are interested in catering and culinary, then go ahead! its a rewarding job as well since you can later operate your own restaurant with the knowledge and experience.

your biology got B4, which is the limiting factor. you can try looking at IPTS options. There’s a list of IPTS offering medicine and also list of agents providing placement services:

other than that, since you maths, language, and accts got good results, why not consider something related to those subjects (meaning arts/social/business/mgmt related field?) this depends on your interest too. are you really interested to be a doctor?

since you mentioned you like networking and programming, then i guess IT is the way forward for you. there’s dozens of colleges offering IT programs. if you want to try IPTA, go for diploma in politeknik.
if you want to try IPTS, then go for either foundation in science/it or diploma IT. there’s many colleges: mmu, utar, tarc, klmu, nilai, inti, kdu, segi, msu, ptpl, kliuc, etc.
sir wat is the prospect of IT in the next few years??? Is it demanding? As all my relatives and friends, thy are telling thr is no work 4 an IT student.. Is it true sir? Confused..

IT prospect has always been good. most of the time, the problem is that IT grads don’t have the skill that the companies look for. so, my suggestion is to check out the syllabus of the course you want to enrol and ask the college how relevant it is with the industry requirements. AND don’t just believe what the college staff says 🙂

both way also can. some scholarships ask you to apply first and later only submit your uni name and course. others ask you to list which uni your applied to, while some can only apply after you have secured place in uni/college.

radiography is generally a diploma level program 9but also got degree) while pharmacy is both diploma and degree level. however, with future demand in medical services in the country, you can expect both radiography and pharmacy to offer good job prospects.

scholarships for medicine is very few, i think only sime darby is left for the moment. there’s least scholarships for medicine because the doctor have to do compulsory service in govt, so sponsors may feel they not getting back their investments directly/immediately.
if you are up for it, then go for STPM (and if finance is a problem).
if not, then go to IPTS either locally or foreign. some uni in foreign are in fact cheaper than studying in malaysia.

if you really like genetic engineering, then retake biology for spm. else, you have to foundation in science in IPTS and proceed from there into biochemistry or similar field.
form6 can, but as you know, it requires hard, hard work.

i have ventured a number of ipts and the minimum requirement for a diploma in mlt is 3 credits. my parents suggested that i should apply for some other eligible course as i have 7 distinction where 5 of it are my science subjects. could sir please suggest some courses that are better than mlt? im planning to do my degree where its foundation is included as well.

actually i was wondering why you want to do MLT when your results are quite good. maybe its your interest? if it is, then just proceed with diploma and later do a degree in health sciences courses.
or if you want to go for degree, then have to do foundation in science/engineering. there’s no such thing as “better” courses than MLT, but just that its a different level of qualification. if you are interested in health/medical programs, there’s pharmacy, physiotherapy, biomedicine, nursing, and so on. check the IPTS offering such programs and you can see more choices.

i can’t help you to “choose”. you have to do the work yourself! you can’t really expect everything to fall on your plate can you? there’s plenty of scholarship info in this blog, and also in other website. you just have to read their requirements and apply for those that you qualify for. is that very hard to do?

if you want to go to accounts line, then just continue in IPTS. it won’t be easy in STPM since you don’t have background in accounts. just go for diploma in accounting or foundation or even LCCI and then can proceed to degree or professional certification like ACCA.
I heard that form 6 Sejarah is hard.Many student had put many effort in it yet when result come out,they cant get an A or even A-.Isnt really so difficult?even hardworking also seems no help?

not true. we practise open certification, meaning you can take SPM repeatedly to IMPROVE your results. BUT, you can take BM and Math in July, while ALL subjects will be offered in year end SPM exams.

must take july paper. BM, English and Math must have credit for future use. these are critical subject. i suggest you SERIOUSLY focus on getting credit for maths.
you can still apply nursing. for govt training, there’s no notice yet from kementerian kesihatan. you can check at http://www.kkm.gov.my for info.
i’ll post in the blog when the nursing application opens. in the mean time, you can also apply in private and get sponsorship from private hospitals.

as far as i know, pilot course is NOT offered in universities, so i’m surprised when you said many universities. hope you can share with me so that i can learn more about this.
pilot study is like car license. anyone can take it with minimum requirements. just like driving license got different category, flying license also got many category. flying the passenger/commercial planes license is most expensive.
some companies may hire trainees for pilot training, like air asia, mas, singapore airlines etc. but at the moment, no such info on scholarship. for scholarship, usually ask for fit and healthy, and good results in spm/stpm.

is there a particular reason to study maths in india? can you check with your college on which uni/college will accept the foundation results. that will be the fastest and easiest way to find a suitable college/uni.

there will be jobs, but in terms of demand, you can’t expect thousands of jobs. probably few hundreds to 1000++ only in 5 years time.

I am a 2008 STPM( sciene) candidate.At that year I only obtain 3 principle passes.I lack one principle in Maths.So I didn’t get placing in local UNI.So I resat for maths in 2009 and obtain C+ for that paper.cgpa 2.5.
So I have I doubt that am I fall on Diploma/setaraf candidate or STPM/setaraf ? quite confusing.

yes can get form 6, but i’m not sure about the stream.
Note that your stream doesn’t determine the exact job as its just a pre-u qualification. i will say doctor for science stream and accountant for arts stream, but can/would everyone study doctor or accountant? no right? every student will have own ambition or interest. remember that high demand job is not necessary satisfying job or high paying job.
we need lots of drivers, so its a high demand job, and need not a degree too! 🙂

Everywhere I look, people are offering so many scholarships for courses like Economics, Business Administration, Accounting, Actuarial Science…but none for English degrees! =(

then you check with the colleges you mention if foundation from aimst is recognised or not. if not, then you can only proceed in aimst or other college/uni that can accept the aimst foundation.

its foundation is actually built into the ADTP, that’s why you don’t see a separate foundation program. Inti would have some scholarships and also links to their partner uni who also offer scholarship for excellent students.

i’m quite interested in the pharmacy field, and yes, of course i wish to pursue my study on it, but i do understand that pharmacy is one of the competitive course, which require a high requirement.. my financial cant support me to study at IPTS, and if i get into form six, i MUST get 4 flat then only can secure a place in IPTA or even i get 4 flat, it can guarantee that i will get into IPTA pharmacy..so, what should i do?
And i’m also quite interested in the biotechnology and biochemistry field.. but many people tell me that these two fields are so hard to find a job after graduated.. How about ur opinion?

yes, pharmacy is competitive course. you can pursue at IPTS by using PTPTN loan (but since u got 10As, i suggest you apply for the IPTS’s internal scholarship first. can get some discounts on fees or even free for foundation studies). ptptn loan should be able to cover the degree fees.
as you said, its harder to enter ipta. and there’s NO guarantee of getting place even if u score 4.00.
both the bio- fields u mentioned are upcoming areas, so demand is there, but not as high as pharmacy.
for your excellent results, all kinds of course is suitable, but better to focus on your interest.

if my name is taken by the matric or IPTA, will my name still be in STPM intake??????

Yes, because STPM name comes out first. So, most students will go to Form 6 while waiting for IPTA results.
